According to EW, "The Gossip Girl series is scheduled to resume production in July, but Paramount is hoping to get Footloose into production sometime this summer, and Crawford can't do both at once."

Sources tell EW.com that the studio is now likely to cast an unknown, possibly launching a nationwide search for the role.
Last year, Zac Efron was attached to the role but he decided also to dropped out. Director Kenny Ortega also dropped off the film, saying he was "exhausted" from his work on the Michael Jackson concert film "This is It".

DWTS' Julianne Hough is still attached to this film and she will portray the lead character's love interest.

The housewives of Wisteria Lane expresses concern about their show's creator Marc Cherry, who is currently facing assault accusations from Nicollette Sheridan.

Desperate Housewives stars Marcia Cross, Eva Longoria Parker, Teri Hatcher and Felicity Huffman issued a joint statement pledging their support for show creator Marc Cherry.
"It would be irresponsible of us to let the public believe that being a part of this show from its inception has been anything but a blessing. We have no first-hand knowledge of what Nicolette may or may not have experienced, but we would never characterize our set as a hostile environment. It is, in fact, the opposite. The friendships and support that Marc Cherry, the cast, the crew and the producers have shared for the past six years have made this a wonderful job that we are grateful for every day."
Sheridan is suing Marc Cherry for $20 million due to assault and battery, gender violence and wrongful termination. Teri Hatcher gave an extra statement after Sheridan mentioned Hatcher's name in the suit.
"While my adoration and respect for the classic and dynamic chemistry of the characters of Susan and Edie is indelible, I'm honored to stand with Eva, Felicity and Marcia, as a group and clarify that our set environment is nothing less than an amazingly positive experience. I have never felt discriminated against. In fact, I have felt heard and respected by Marc and other executives in regards to both my professional and personal needs."
