Posted: 11 May 2010 12:54 AM PDT

The name Frank Frazetta may not immediately jump out at you, but there's a very good chance that over the duration of your years on this planet, you've probably seen something that was born from his mind. Frazetta was an artist who was responsible for countless comics, posters, music albums, and some of the most popular book cover art ever created.

On Monday, Mr. Frazetta passed away at the age of 82 in Florida. The artist died after complications arose from a stroke he had suffered.

Of the many things that he did, it was the world of fantasy and science fiction where he truly made his mark. Though he began in with comic strips like Buck Rogers and Li'l Abner, he was responsible for some of the fantastic paintings used for many different books such as Edgar Rice Burroughs' works John Carter of Mars and Tarzan. Carter, as you know, has been in the news often lately due to the movie version currently on the way. [...]

Best Movie Ever? The Beatles To Become Zombies In ‘Paul Is Undead’

Posted: 10 May 2010 09:34 PM PDT

Michael Shamberg and Stacey Sher of Double Feature Films have optioned a feature film adaptation of Paul is Undead: The British Zombie Invasion, the mash-up novel from author Alan Goldsher.

The novel tells one of the currently-popular alternate history stories where zombies and monsters and vampires and aliens are used as an added special ingredient to classic old stories or even to the lives of celebrities and historical figures. This began with Seth Grahame-Smith's Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, and has gone as far as the recent announcement of the Tim Burton and Timur Bekmambetov collaboration on Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter.

In Goldsher's tale, John Lennon is turned into a zombie while still a young child in 1940 England. As time goes on, he grows into an incredibly talented musician who kills and re-animates Paul McCartney and George Harrison before adding "Drummer/Seventh Level Ninja Lord" Ringo Starr to the group, creating and amazing and talented band of (mostly) zombie musicians called The Beatles who go set off to share their music with millions of adoring fans...some of which they eat. He eventually becomes one of the primary enemies to the Green Lantern. He's also the son of Senator Hammond (played by Tim Robbins), who has never really seen eye-to-eye with his son.

As you will see in the image, they certainly didn't hold back when it comes to the whole deformed head situation. This is, of course, just walking around on the set -- that's not what he'll be wearing in the movie and there's likely going to be a lot more effect added to the head you see there. [...]
