| Watch Jet Li on The Expendables Posted: 11 Aug 2010 09:16 PM PDT Share with your friends Jet Li is one of the stars in the upcoming action flick The Expendables. He is one of the biggest names today in the martial arts movie genre. But before entering showbiz, he was an accomplished martial artist. He won 15 gold medals and a silver for the Beijing Wushu Team during the All China Games, a national championship game. He retired from wushu when he was 17 years old. Li then went to pursue a career in acting. In 1982, he made his debut in Shaolin Temple. It was a hit and went on to spawn two sequels, Kids from Shaolin and Martial Arts from Shaolin. He then went on to star as the Chinese folk hero Master Wong Fei Hung in the Once Upon a Time in China series. In 1994, he made a remake of Bruce Lee's Fist of Fury, entitled Fist of Legend. Li then crossed over to appear as a villain, his first time ever, in Lethal Weapon 4 in 1998. His first starring role after he moved to Hollywood was 2000's Romeo Must Die with the late R&B singer Aaliyah. It was a breakout hit and he went on to star in The One with Jason Statham, and Kiss of the Dragon with Bridget Fonda. In 2002, he starred in Zhang Yimou's Oscar-nominated epic film Hero. He next appeared in Cradle 2 the Grave, Unleashed, Fearless, The Warlords, and War which all received moderate success. For the first time, the two most famous actors in the martial arts genre today, Jet Li and Jackie Chan, appeared together on the big screen in The Forbidden Kingdom in 2008 and was well received by fans and critics alike. He also played the main villain, Emperor Han, in The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor, which starred Brendan Fraser, Maria Bello, and Michelle Yeoh. In the upcoming action flick, Jet Li plays Yin Yang, a Chinese martial arts expert. He is a member of a group of mercenaries who call themselves The Expendables. The movie will hit theaters this August 13, or you can also watch The Expendables online.
