Harry Potter: One the Greatest Characters in Past Two Decades

Posted: 30 Aug 2010 01:43 AM PDT

In the past two decades, pop culture has been plagued by brooding vampires, vampire slayers, stupid caricatures, femme-fatales, and highly-intelligent creepy villains. But nobody has had such a huge impact in the international (and market) as J. K. Rowling's Harry Potter. Hell, the British author has one of the best rags-to-riches stories ever, from living on welfare to becoming the first and only professional writer to become a billionaire.

The wiz kid first appeared on 19997when Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone. And as each book of the fantasy book was released, so does the fanbase of the orphaned wizard. And it reached worldwide fame when in 2001, it was adapted to the big screen. The movie proved to be a huge hit, and it spawned several sequels, with the first six Harry Potter films earned more than $5.4 billion at the box office, making it the highest grossing film series of all time. It is also one of the most successful franchise of all time, with the books selling more than 400 million copies, plus other merchandise which includes toys, clothes, video games, personal products, and even Jelly Beans.

The eleven-year old British child actor, Daniel Radcliffe, also was thrust into the spotlight when he first played the orphaned wizard. He has since then become an A-list star, even demanding $15 million for each installment of the Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. He commented on the issue about the idea that the series will be redone. He said, "The books will be around for decades to come which makes me wonder if in 30 years time, we will be seeing remakes of these movies. I have a very dark suspicion that that will happen, although I particularly don't want it, too."

But is Harry Potter has beaten the Dark Lord, he proved to be no match for the Great One. He lost to stupid lazy-ass drunkard, and child abuser Homer Simpson. D'oh! I guess beer power always win over Expecto Patronum.

See Harry Potter in the last two installments of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows in theaters: Part I on November 19, 2010 and Part II on July 15, 2010. Warner Bros. recently released a brand new behind the scene featurette for the seventh installment. But you can also watch Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows online.

Latest Behind The Scenes Featurette from Harry Potter VII

Warner Bros. has released a brand new featurette which showcases some behind-the-scenes clips from Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. The film is based on the seventh and final installment of the best-selling and award-winning series of novels by J. K. Rowling. And the novel will be told on two parts; Part I will be shown later this year, while Part II is scheduled to hit theaters summer next year.

The video not only shows several takes from the movie, but they also feature interviews from the people behind the most successful film series of all time. And recently, on Vanity Fair's annual list, the Harry Potter stars broke in Hollywood's top earners. The three lead stars, Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, and Rupert Grint, commented on the upcoming adventure fantasy film. Producer David Heyman and director David Yates also shared their thoughts about the Deathly Hallows. Yates has been signed to direct the last two Harry Potter films.

The opening sequence of the latest promotional vid shows Harry Potter asking, "What do you know abut the Deathly Hallows?" The Deathly Hallows are magical objects which are symbolized by the Wand, the Stone, and the Cloak. Radcliffe then reveals that this is Harry's last chance to defeat Lord Voldemort. Harry Potter and his friends, Hermione Granger and Ron Weaseley, are on a dangerous mission to search and destroy the Horcruxes of Voldemort. But the trio will do it on their own as Professor Dumbledore has been killed and the Dark Lord and his Death Eaters have already taken control of the Ministry of Magic and Hogwarts. And the Dark Forces are after them and Voldemort wants then to capture Harry… alive.

The clip also shows the standing off of Harry Potter and Lord Voldemort. Voldemort says, "Harry Potter, the boy who lived, come to die." Unlike the earlier Harry Potter movies, it will be both darker and action packed as the stakes now are getting higher.

If you want to catch this much-awaited fantasy adventure flick, you can watch Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows online.
