NYCC 2010: ‘The Walking Dead’ TV Series To Air In 120 Countries Posted: 10 Oct 2010 04:10 PM PDT Great news for fans of The Walking Dead living outside the United States! Fox International has picked up The Walking Dead and will air the series in 120 countries, producer Gale Anne Hurd announced today at the 2010 New York Comic-Con. Hurd, speaking at The Walking Dead's panel at the Con's packed IGN Theater, said that the series will premiere internationally within a week of its U.S. premiere on AMC, which is set for October 31, 2010, at 10pm. The television series is based on the popular comic book series by Robert Kirkman and was greenlit by AMC for 6 episodes, which includes the 90-minute pilot (all subsequent episodes are 60 minutes each), and encompasses Season 1 of the show [...] |
‘Doctor Who’ Filming In America For Season 6 Posted: 10 Oct 2010 03:17 PM PDT After setting record-breaking ratings on BBC America, the Doctor Who cast and crew will film a two-part story on American soil for the first time in the show's history, announced BBC. Those trying to deduce what the story could be about might start by looking for anything significant that might have happened in a Utah desert during the 1960s. The Doctor, Amy, and Rory start their adventure in Utah and end up in The Oval Office itself, which means one of four different U.S. presidents could make an appearance: Dwight Eisenhower, John Kennedy, Lyndon Johnson, or Richard Nixon. "The Doctor has visited every weird and wonderful planet you can imagine, so he was bound get round to America eventually! And of course every Doctor Who fan will be jumping up and down and saying he's been in America before. But not for real, not on location -- and not with a story like this one! Oh, you wait!" said showrunner Steven Moffat, who will write the two-parter [...] |
NYCC 2010: ‘Green Lantern: The Animated Series’ First Impressions + Concept Art Posted: 10 Oct 2010 11:15 AM PDT We've known that Green Lantern: The Animated Series was coming to Cartoon Network for a little while, and attendees at the 2010 New York Comic-COn got their first look at the series this weekend. Sadly, there wasn't any actual footage shown, but there was plenty of concept art shown (which you can view here below), as well as a a 20-second test clip of animation. The show will be completely animated by CG (think The Clone Wars series) and Hal Jordan and Kilowog will be the main stars of the show. The good news is that Bruce Timm will be one of the showrunners, and he's always produced consistently good shows, so there's no reason to think this will be any different. Details that emerged from the panel include that the show will run for at least 26 episodes, with the first 13 episodes already planned out. The main villains of the show will be the Red Lanterns, and it sounds like the other colored Lanterns will show up at some point. Everyone may assume that Sinestro would be the ideal villain for the series, but he actually won't be showing up, at least for the first 13 episodes, although he will be getting built up over the course of the series for his eventual reveal, and they do have plans to reveal him at some point [...] |
NYCC 2010: ‘The Thing’ Panel Reveals First Footage Posted: 10 Oct 2010 07:43 AM PDT The cast and filmmakers of Universal's The Thing made an appearance at the 2010 New York Comic-Con on Saturday to promote their upcoming prequel to John Carpenter's 1982 film, and revealed the first footage from the new film (see footage description here below). Director Matthijis van Heijningen said that in the film we will get to see The Thing creature in its "pure form" -- the form in which it's been trapped in the ice in for all these years, but he also hinted that since the very nature of The Thing is stealing the biological identity of other lifeforms and it being from another planet, how could we know what this entity's pure form really is. Heijningen talked about a bit the effects used in the film, stating that they used as many practical effects (as opposed to CGI) as possible. He said he feels that playing against a man in a suit is much better for the actors than looking at a tennis ball on a string against a green screen. "We had as many real monsters on the set as possible," the director said [...] |
NYCC 2010: ‘Captain America: White’ Still On The Way Posted: 10 Oct 2010 06:18 AM PDT Fans of Jeph Loeb and Tim Sale's series of "color" stories (Spider-Man: Blue, Daredevil: Yellow, Hulk: Gray) have been waiting for their next installment in the series for a long time, Captain America: White, ever since it was first announced. We have only seen one issue, the #0 issue which saw print in July of 2008, but we haven't seen anything since. However, at Marvel's Cup O Joe panel Saturday at the 2010 New York Comic Con, Loeb said that work is still going ahead on the series, and that Tim Sale is still drawing. Loeb said that they are waiting for all the issues to be completed and that Sale is basically painting every page. Loeb also said that they plan to have the series out in time for the Captain America movie [...] |
