Cop Busts Up Bumblebee On Set Of ‘Transformers 3′

Posted: 11 Oct 2010 10:37 PM PDT

On the set of Transformers 3 in Washington, DC, they ran into a little problem. That problem was a police SUV. Apparently a veteran bomb squad officer was on his way out to a call and on a different channel than the police officer's securing the film set for a chase scene for the movie. What ensues is Bumblebee, the yellow Chevy Camaro transformer, crashing into the side of the cop car.

You get a nice view of Transformer Optimus Prime and another (you are going to kill me) Autobot that I don't know its name. You can hear the police siren, eventually see the cop car, then Bumblebee come out and, WHAMMY. It's a nice little wreck. The officer was taken to the hospital, but my medically untrained eyes would guess that it was just a precaution. It's a little weird that he was on a different radio frequency than the cops on set, but that could be normal, not only am I not a doctor, but I'm also not a cop, so that could be normal.

Below is some footage taken by someone on the scene. Click on the picture to see a bigger image of the crash, or you can click the source link to see Fox DC's coverage, which is great and has a video of another angle of the crash [...]

See The Banksy Opening Of ‘The Simpsons’ That Has Everyone Talking

Posted: 11 Oct 2010 06:22 PM PDT

Twentieth Century Fox's eternally popular animated series, The Simpsons, has been on the air for years and years and years now, but never has their opening sequence caused quite the stir that this past Sunday's episode presented.

The opening, created by British graffiti artist Bansky, is traditional for the most part, side for the artist's name tagged on a wall here and there. Traditional until the end that is; when it reaches the legendary couch gag at the end of every title sequence, things took an unexpected turn for the dark.

In fact, this little surprise was so dark, it's set off a wave of controversy. And yes, while the gag is a bit depressing and bleak, it was only expected that certain people would scream and shout and complain, because that's what people with clouded logic and a insatiable need for attention do. For the rest of us easy going folks, it's easy to laugh at this knowing that it is just a cartoon, and that this quite obviously is not how things are really done on The Simpsons. [...]

Exclusive Set Photos: ‘Captain America: The First Avenger’ Filming In Manchester

Captain America

The Dale Street Journal: The Filming of Captain America: The First Avenger in Manchester

The following is an account of the filming in Manchester, UK, of the upcoming 2011 Marvel movie Captain America: The First Avenger, which includes exclusive photos from the set. The film is directed by Joe Johnston (The Rocketeer, Jurassic Park 3) with a $140 million budget and has Chris Evans (Fantastic Four, Scott Pilgrim vs. The World) in the title role. Now readers, I will keep it informative and humorous, with the anecdotes coming think and fast, and remember -- when the production needed somewhere cheap that could masquerade as 1940s New York that they could blow seven shades of shit out of... they came to Manchester, England. The Forbidden Planet store only 5 minutes walk from the set seemingly had nothing advertising the fact... strange.

'The Buildup'

I was oblivious. I was informed by a work colleague that on the one day I had off from work was the one day I missed the article in the Manchester Evening Newspaper [Thursday September 9th, 2010, page 24] in the Northern Quarter of Manchester on Dale Street -- the bohemian beatnik center of the city, iconoclastic famous and championed by the infamous 'sons' from the band 'Oasis', that filming is to begin... something I can guarantee you DOES NOT happen that regularly in the the North West of England -- granted the last two movies filmed here was the Alfie remake with Jude Law and Robert Downey Jr's Sherlock Holmes, both of which flew past without so much of a mention, not that Jude Law is worth a mention [...]

‘Spider-Man’ Reboot Finds Its Villain In Rhys Ifans … But Who Will He Play?

Posted: 11 Oct 2010 01:28 PM PDT

Yet another casting has been announced by Sony Pictures and Columbia Pictures for their much-buzzed and immediate reboot of the Spider-Man franchise. This time around, it's been revealed who will be playing the crucial villain role.

Sony announced that Rhys Ifans will be their villain in the new movie, facing off against Spider-Man (Andrew Garfield), and his love interest Gwen Stacy (Emma Stone). The only thing about the announcement is that the studio has decided to keep exactly who Ifans will be playing a big secret. This should go over well with fans who are dying to know who the big baddie in this new take on the Marvel comic book superhero would be.

Ifans is best known for his quirky supporting roles. He first stood out to most as the often oblivious slob and Hugh Grant flatmate in the romantic comedy, Notting Hill. Since then he's stood out in films like The Replacements, Little Nicky, Human Nature, and Danny Deckchair. More recently, he's appeared in Elizabeth: The Golden Age, The Informers, and The Boat That Rocked, and Greenberg. Next up, he's set to play Luna Lovegood's father, Xenophilius Lovegood, in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 1. [...]

DreamWorks Animation Moving Forward With ‘How To Train Your Dragon 2′

Posted: 11 Oct 2010 12:23 PM PDT

As we all very well know, sequels are pretty much a guarantee when a movie does well, especially when it comes to computer animated feature films.

DreamWorks Animation has always been second to the masters of animated features, Pixar Animation, but they've done a great job improving their status over the years by delivering some impressive films. Unlike Pixar, who've always been a little reluctant on the idea, DreamWorks has never shied away from a sequel opportunity. Their biggest success, Shrek, turned into a major four-film franchise and Madagascar has its second sequel set for release in 2012. They also have a sequel to Kung Fu Panda on the way and a Shrek spinoff planned.

All of that said, it should come as no surprise that DreamWorks Animation has had plans to release a sequel to their last big hit, How To Train Your Dragon, and now they've started to reveal details on the sequel. [...]

New ‘Doctor Who’ Ongoing Comic Book Announced

IDW's Doctor Who #1

A new Doctor Who ongoing comic book series featuring Matt Smith's eleventh version of the character was announced at New York Comic-Con's IDW Publishing panel this weekend.

Scheduled for a January 2011 release, the new series -- written by Tony Lee, who also wrote IDW's series following the tenth (David Tennant) version of The Doctor -- is set after the conclusion of Season 5 and possibly after this year's Christmas Special, it was revealed.

"As you buy the comic in January, it's set in the right moment. And, each story is self contained, so you can either class it as 'Season 5.5' or scatter them throughout season six," Lee said in an interview with CBR [...]

Zombies Infest IDW’s Hollywood Franchise Line Of Comics

Posted: 11 Oct 2010 07:06 AM PDT

IDW Publishing: Infestation

Oooh, I just love it when we zombies get all multi-dimensional n' shit!

In January of 2010, IDW Publishing is set to launch a multi-title crossover event named Infestation, in which several of their flagship titles will be invaded by none other than... you guessed it, Zombies!

The event kicks off in January 2011, with Infestation #1 from writers Dan Abnett and Andy Lanning, which finds us in IDW's own Zombies vs. Robots universe just prior to some insane multi-dimensional event that seeds the rest of IDW's titles with zombies and 'infected' robots. The event continues throughout two bi-weeky issues from each from their 'Blockbuster Hollywood' line, which includes Star Trek, G.I. Joe, Transformers, and Ghostbusters, and will conclude in April 2011 with Infestation #2 [...]

NYCC 2010: ‘Hanna’ Panel With Saoirse Ronan & Eric Bana

Posted: 11 Oct 2010 06:15 AM PDT

One of the panels at the New York Comic-Con 2010 that not many people knew anything about, was Atonement and Pride and Prejudice director Joe Wright's latest film, Hanna. But after learning a little about it, your interest in the assassin drama may just be piqued. On hand for the panel was Wright and stars Saoirse Ronan and Eric Bana.

The movie tells the story of a 14-year-old girl named Hanna (Ronan) who is raised in the wilds of Northern Finland by her father, Eric (Bana), to be a deadly young assassin. As any young teenager would, she begins yearning to explore the world and meet different people -- she's only really known her father and what she's read in her books, which consists of an encyclopedia and Grimm's Fairy Tales, causing her to have something of a fantastical-yet-false sense of what the real world is really like. In order to get to explore the world as she so wishes, she must first complete a dangerous mission: to find and assassinate a CIA agent named Marissa (Cate Blanchett), who her father had thought was already dead.
