Mustache On Or Off? Tom Selleck Replaces Harrison Ford On ‘Indiana Jones’ Poster

Posted: 17 Oct 2010 07:41 PM PDT

Here's a bit of hypothetical fun, just to end off your weekend with.

For those who don't know, while director Steven Spielberg liked Harrison Ford best for the role of Indiana Jones in Raiders of the Lost Ark, writer/creator/producer George Lucas didn't want to cast him because he had already appeared in Lucas's American Graffiti and Star Wars. The next choice to play Indy was Tom Selleck, but thankfully for us, he decided not to due it due to a commitment to Magnum P.I. that ultimately didn't even start filming until after Raiders had wrapped. Ah, fate.

To have a little fun with the thought of another actor as Indy, someone decided to make a Raiders of the Lost Ark poster with Selleck front and center as the star. You can click the image to see the poster full-sized, and be sure to share your thoughts on how Tom looks as Indy below! [...]

Ever say to yourself, "My, I sure like to experience a comic book convention without having to wait in long lines and weed through dense populated crowds?" Well, dear readers, you are in luck!

Geeks of Doom is proud to present their photo coverage for this year's New York Comic-Con . Let's face it, what comics convention coverage is complete without yet another photo galley parade of the three-day event, which took place this year on October 8-10.

In this gallery, you can see some of the sights, creators from both the comics and book industry, and booths that this year's event had to offer. A special Geeky salute goes out to Jared Fowler, who was more than happy to provide us with some sweet-looking pictures. This gallery would be rather boring without some of Jared's superb pics, so thanks big guy!

Be on the lookout for our New York Comic-Con 2010 Cosplay Photos post coming real soon, where we give you a look at some of the coolest costumes at the Con.

So what are you guys waiting for? Scroll through this awesome gallery and enjoy! [...]

Waiting for Superman movie poster

Waiting For Superman
Written and Directed by Davis Guggenheim
Participant Media Release date: September 24, 2010

If director Davis Guggenheim's previous film, An Inconvenient Truth, was America's wake-up call to the global warming crisis, then his latest effort, Waiting for Superman, is a cry for help to save America's public school system.

The U.S. public school system is in trouble. Despite the signing of The No Child Left Behind Act in 2001 to improve public education as a whole, the results have been less than stellar. Overall test scores across the states are still at an all-time low, drop-out rates keeping increasing, and some schools still can't provide basic supplies for their classrooms. So how did it get so wrong? And is it too late to fix this broken institution?

Despite the film's sometimes grim and always serious tone, the information is presented to the audience in an informative and digestible format. Using cartoon animation, one on one interviews, and kitchy archival footage, the documentary is never boring even if it does feel like a product from the Michael Moore school of documentary filmmaking [...]
