5 Awesome Moments From Spike TV’s Scream 2010 Awards [w/ Video] Posted: 19 Oct 2010 10:36 PM PDT Each year, Spike TV's Scream Awards brings out the coolest stars of horror, scifi, and comics to premiere new footage from upcoming films and give out awards for things like "Best Worst Movie," "Most Memorable Mutilation," and "Holy Shit! Scene Of The Year." No, my friends, this is not your typical humdrum awards show, and it's certainly not a teenybopper fest. Instead, the audience is filled with horror/scifi fans dressed in costume and an elaborate, ghoulish stage show sets the tone for the ceremony. Scream 2010 did not disappoint, giving fans plenty of exclusive footage from anticipated films like Paranormal Activity 2, Scream 4, and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, as well as a clip from AMC's upcoming television series The Walking Dead. The awards show also brought out the casts of Twilight, Lost, The Vampire Diaries, Scream 4, and True Blood. Aside from the footage and stars, the awards ceremony had some really great moments, which involved seeing some fan favorites embracing the roles they are best known for, as well as a shout-out to what was voted the Most Anticipated Film Of The Year. Here are 5 awesome moments from Spike TV's Scream 2010 Awards (with video). [...] |
Darren Aronofsky To Direct ‘Wolverine 2′; Hugh Jackman Talks Sequel Posted: 19 Oct 2010 07:01 PM PDT It's been a strange stretch of time for the upcoming sequel to X-Men Origins: Wolverine, currently just being called Wolverine 2. Whispers have been constant that Requiem for a Dream and The Wrestler director Darren Aronofsky was close to being signed as the director, which immediately screams "April Fools!" Given that it's currently October, however, this little prank wouldn't make much sense, but no one seemed ready to confirm the odd choice for both director and movie. Since then word has come around that a deal between Aronofsky and 20th Century Fox to direct was so close that shooting schedules were being worked out for the director and star Hugh Jackman so that no issues would arise. And speaking of Jackman, he recently spoke about the upcoming sequel, and spoke as if Aronofsky was locked and loaded. With that said, it seems we can safely assume that this is happening. It still feels awkward, but let's just run with where it's going! [...] |
Official Theatrical Poster For ‘Tron: Legacy’ Released Posted: 19 Oct 2010 04:51 PM PDT We've seen a pile of posters and images for Walt Disney's new science fiction mega-sequel, Tron: Legacy, not to mention the trailers that have been released thus far (Read: Watch Now! Mel Gibson Set To Make Les Grossman-Like Appearance In ‘The Hangover 2′ Posted: 19 Oct 2010 03:50 PM PDT It's been confirmed that a very interesting star will be making an appearance in Todd Phillips' comedy sequel, The Hangover 2. Sources indicate that none other than Mel Gibson will have a role in the movie, and that it will be "larger than life," much like Tom Cruise's Les Grossman role in Tropic Thunder. Cruise, much like Gibson, was under a lot of fire for various things before he played Grossman, but when everyone saw the wild and over-the-top performance, most went back to loving him. You have to imagine that this is the overall gameplan for Gibson in The Hangover sequel as well. Almost all actors from the firs movie -- including Zach Galifianakis, Bradley Cooper, Justin Bartha, Ed Helms, and Ken Jeong -- are all set to return. The only one said not to be coming back is Heather Graham. This time around the movie will see the gang heading to Bangkok, Thailand, where you know things should find a way to get that much crazier than they did i the first movie. [...] |
Mark Wahlberg Offered The Lead In ‘The Crow’ Remake Posted: 19 Oct 2010 02:42 PM PDT Bloody Disgusting has the scoop that Mark Wahlberg has been offered the lead role in The Crow remake. Yeah, let that sink in for a minute. As if remaking The Crow wasn't bad enough, it seems Relativity Media has made an offer to The Happening star, but there's no word yet whether Wahlberg has accepted the role. Earlier this summer, producer Edward Pressman said that an offer was out to a "major actor" and that writer/director Stephen Norrington had completed the script for the remake of the 1994 Alex Proyas cult classic, which starred Brandon Lee as the lead character [Read 'The Crow' Producer Shares Remake Details; Casting To Come Soon]. At the end of July, reports came that Nick Cave would be doing rewrites on the script [...] |
‘Happy Days’ TV Dad Tom Bosley Dies At 83 Posted: 19 Oct 2010 02:10 PM PDT One of the all-time great TV dads, Tom Bosley passed away today at the age of 83. Bosley had been battling lung cancer, but it's said that the actor passed away due to heart failure at a hospital in Palm Springs. The actor did many things over his career, but he is and always will be remembered as Howard Cunningham on the hit '70s TV show, Happy Days. The show ran for ten years from 1974 to 1984 and spanned 255 episodes, all of which featured Bosley. Only his TV wife Marion Ross and the Fonz, Henry Winkler, appeared in every episode. Apart from Happy Days, Bosley also had notable runs on Murder She Wrote, where he played Sheriff Amos Tupper, and in 44 episodes of Father Dowling Mysteries, his own series where he played the title character. Later in his career mainly consisted of smaller roles. He had a voice cameo as Howard Cunningham in the Church of the Fonz episode of Family Guy, and had 1-episode stints on shows like One Tree Hill and That '70s Show. [...] |
NeverRants: Destroying Comics For Fun And Profit Posted: 19 Oct 2010 12:42 PM PDT Superworld Comics is a store in Massachusetts that specializes in bronze, silver, and golden age comics and original comic art. On their YouTube channel, they have a feature called "Trash-A-Comic." The title is pretty self-explanatory. Every episode, they destroy a comic book from their back-stock in what they insist are fun and creative ways for, one can only assume, the entertainment of their customers. Because comic book fans -- especially collectors of mint and slabbed comics -- LOVE seeing those books destroyed. In their first episode, they shot an issue of Classics Illustrated: Kidnapped to pieces with a paint gun. In their second episode, they fed a near-mint issue of Dazzler to a couple of pigs before having it pecked by chickens. In their third episode, they ripped an issue of Walt Disney's Comics and Stories in half, put it in a blender, turned it into a smoothie, and drank it while toasting, "Here's to the end of another worthless comic." In their fourth episode, they rolled over a CGC slabbed issue of Shazam with a steam shovel and fed it into a wood chipper [...] |

Fox Wants ‘Glee’ Creator To Direct ‘The Rocky Horror Picture Show’ Remake Posted: 19 Oct 2010 04:21 AM PDT It looks like Fox 2000 is moving forward with their plans for a remake of the cult classic The Rocky Horror Picture Show, and they want Glee creator Ryan Murphy to helm it. Nothing has been signed yet, but apparently the studio is "courting" Murphy, and he's met with the studio regarding the project. The studio's interest in Murphy should be no surprise, as he's just completed a Halloween-theme episode of the Fox television series Glee in which the gang does a performance of Rocky Horror, the long-running horror-scifi musical celebrating its 35th anniversary this year. The episode airs on October 26, 2010 and promises to be quite good. It was announced back in July 2008 that Fox and MTV productions were planning a remake of the highly successful 1975 film, and would be using the original screenplay, written by Richard O'Brien and Jim Sharman, as a guide and possibly include music not featured in the original (Read MTV To Remake 'The Rocky Horror Picture Show'). Since then, there's been little word on the project and it was even rumored last year that MTV had shelved it [...] |
