MP3 Deal: Pink Floyd’s ‘Dark Side Of The Moon’ For $2! Posted: 27 Nov 2010 05:39 AM PST All this week, Amazon has been offering up five albums per day for only $1.99 each in mp3 format. If you purchase MP3s through Amazon, it downloads into your iTunes account, so it's as simple as purchasing directly through iTunes. Also, you can now gift these MP3 purchases - just click the "Give album or song as gift" button on the right on the product page. Today, Pink Floyd's classic Dark Side Of The Moon is available for only $1.99. I can't imagine that there's anyone left out there who doesn't already own this amazing Pink Floyd album, but just in case, now's the time to get it, as it's only $2. I can't stress enough how crazy insane it would be to pass up this deal. There's a reason Dark Side of the Moon is one of the best-selling albums of all time: the 1973 release has 9 songs and you'd be hard-pressed to find one even mediocre song, let alone one that's bad. If you're not familiar with the album, and you're wondering if you've ever heard any songs from it, chances are, you have: "Money," which opens with the sounds a cash register ringing and coins clanking, was its popular single and has been in frequent rotation for decades on classic rock stations. Note, the deal is supposed to be just for today, though it most likely will last maybe through the weekend. Another album that is only $1.99 this week is John Lennon's Power To The People - The Hits, which is still on sale. It has 15 of Lennon's solo hits, like "Imagine," "Instant Karma," and "Woman." Lightning Deals: Paranormal Activity, Knight Rider, The Prisoner Posted: 27 Nov 2010 05:16 AM PST Every day, Amazon offers up "Lightning Deals," limited quantities of various products for a discounted price for a 4-hour window of time. You have to be on the lookout for these deals and once the item runs out within that four hours, the sale is over. Meaning, if you see something on sale that you want, buy it immediately before it's gone. Typically you don't know what will be on sale until the minute it gets posted, but as part of this Black Friday event, Amazon has released this week's Lightning Deal schedule for Movies & TV on DVD and Blu-ray. See list of today's deals here below, along with more information on how these special deals work. There's also TONS of extremely low prices and great deals on DVDs and Blu-rays right now, so visit the BLACK FRIDAY DEALS page to see the wide selection. NOTE: Amazon has lowered the price of ALL seasons of Mad Men on DVD and Blu-ray to $9.99 each from November 25-27!!! Visit the Mad Men page to select DVDs/Blu-rays to purchase. Also, Amazon's Blu-ray box set deal of the week is the Alien Anthology Blu-ray Edition for only $70.49 (that's 50% off the list price of $139.99). This deal is valid only for this week through November 27, 2010. SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 27, 2010 8:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. PST Paranormal Activity DVD - $6.99 Capitalism: A Love Story DVD - $7.99 Knight Rider: The Complete Series DVD - $39.99 [...] |
Deal: ‘True Blood’ Season 1 For $12 Posted: 26 Nov 2010 11:53 PM PST True Blood: The Complete First Season DVD is on sale right now at Amazon for only $12 (that's 80% off the list price of $59.99). The Blu-ray has also been marked down to only $22.99 (that's 71% off the list price of $79.98) Also, Season 2 DVD is on sale for $37.99 (37% off the list price of $59.99), while the Season 2 Blu-ray has been reduced to $45.99 (42% off the list price of $79.98). I'm not sure how long these prices will last, so if you've had your eye on any of these DVDs/Blu-rays, or had planned on getting this as a gift for someone, then I suggest you grab it now. I can't imagine the prices dropping any lower than this for Season 1 (and probably not for Season 2 either). True Blood is an hour-long drama on HBO, which stars Anna Paquin as mind-reading waitress Sookie Stackhouse and Stephen Moyer as her vampire lover Bill Compton. The show is based on the Southern Vampire books by Charlaine Harris. I didn't start watching the show until after the third season began, but once I jumped on, I was immediately hooked. I think I paid about $40 for Season 1, so for $12 for 12 episodes, you really can't go wrong. Both the DVD and Blu-ray Editions for Season 1 and 2 are part of Amazon's "Buy This DVD and Watch it Instantly" program. So, with the purchase of either editions, you get to start watching the show instantly through their Video On Demand service while you wait for your physical copy to arrive (more details below). First ‘Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn’ Photo Leaves A Lot To The Imagination Posted: 26 Nov 2010 09:21 PM PST As a Thanksgiving gift to fans, Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn director Bill Condon posted the first photo from the two-part film through the official Twilight Twitter account. Condon tweeted the following, along with a link to the image on Twitpic: "Happy Thanksgiving and a crazy Black Friday to all of you and yours." - Bill Condon Check out the image here at right (click for larger, full view). Apparently, the image is from the film's eagerly anticipated sex scene between Bella and Edward, and shows Bella's arm resting on a down blanket; in her hand are feathers from the slashed up blanket, which I guess is supposed to depict hot, wild sex [...] |
Blu-ray Review: Exit Through The Gift Shop Posted: 26 Nov 2010 02:18 PM PST Exit through the Gift Shop DVD | Blu-ray Directed by Banksy Starring Banksy, Thierry Guetta Ais Release date: December 14, 2010 Don't forget to exit through the gift shop after buying that fancy painting for some thousands of dollars at an art exhibit. Once in the gift shop you will be guaranteed to see a smaller version of the painting you just bought scaled down in size so it can be presented on keychains, postcards, and birthday cards; just a few more ways in which the artist can earn an extra buck. The artist on display will undoubtedly be wearing a smile that stretches from cheek to cheek as he is being interviewed by magazines and newspapers dying to understand his motivation and inspiration. He will present himself in an admirable light, disguising his true cut-throat mentality, so he can coax individuals he does not even know into buying his adaptation of Warhol's Campbell Soup portrait which he turned into a large can of spray paint. This is what has become of the community of graffiti artwork that many enigmatic figures hold dearly to their hearts. Exit through the Gift Shop, an immensely entertaining and interesting documentary, details the particulars that played a part in getting the underground art into the commercial world. These figures involved with graffiti art were content with their graffiti portraits remaining ineffectual in the commercial realm [...] |

Coming complete with a Flying V guitar, pentagram necklace, and bullet-belt; the only thing missing from this little Black Metal dude is the complete burning church playset. The awesome little figure, pictured right (click for enlarged version), is the result of an amigurumi crochet project created by the folks over at Karabouts. The detail on this little guy is pretty stunning. The spiked gauntlets are made from tacks, the pentagram is actually an earring, and the bullet-belt is made from silver beads. The coolness of this awesome project just makes me want throw out the metal horns and growl some Satanic lyrics.
