Avatar Kinect Coming This Spring Posted: 11 Jan 2011 08:44 PM PST The Consumer Electronics Show (CES) was last week in Las Vegas, and there was some interesting gaming news, one of which that stood out to me in particular was the Avatar Kinect coming this Spring from Microsoft. It does what the name suggests, combines the Kinect motion camera with your avatar, but does it in a way that is pretty amazing. Not only does the camera track your movements, but also your facial expressions. It really is cool; it is kind of like video chatting, but instead of seeing each other, you interact with each other's avatars. This would make me all the more likely to use the video chat piece of Kinect. I know many of my Xbox Live friends, but others I only know from gaming, so I'm not too keen on video chatting with people I really don't know. You can also put your avatars in different settings, and record your interaction if you want to. You can check out the video below of it in action. I'm looking forward to trying it out, although I'm not excited to see my giant eyebrows moving all over the place [...] |
Another Intense Trailer For ‘Battle: Los Angeles’ Released Posted: 11 Jan 2011 07:20 PM PST A new trailer for the upcoming alien invasion movie, Battle: Los Angeles, has been released, and it may be even better than the one we saw back in November. From what we've seen so far, this movie is setting itself up to be one of the most fun and intense movie-going experiences of 2011, and people are sure to flock to this type of cinematic thrill ride. Battle: Los Angeles is directed by Jonathan Liebesman, and stars Aaron Eckhart, Bridget Moynahan, Michelle Rodriguez, Michael Pena, and Adetokumboh M. Cormack. You can read the synopsis and check out the crazy new trailer by clicking on over to the other side now! SYNOPSIS: For years, there have been documented cases of UFO sightings around the world -- Buenos Aires, Seoul, France, Germany, China. But in 2011, what were once just sightings will become a terrifying reality when Earth is attacked by unknown forces. As people everywhere watch the world's great cities fall, Los Angeles becomes the last stand for mankind in a battle no one expected. [...] |
James Bond Is Saved; 23rd Movie Gets A Release Date From MGM With Daniel Craig Set To Return Posted: 11 Jan 2011 04:49 PM PST At one point in time, things were so dire with MGM that many worried if both Peter Jackson's The Hobbit and the next installment in the James Bond franchise -- two of the biggest movies on the horizon -- would ever even get made. While The Hobbit has mostly kept its head above water, back in April it was reported that the latest James Bond, currently known only as Bond 23, would be put on hold indefinitely. This also branched out to the likelihood that popular star Daniel Craig might not ever play the role again. But lately, MGM has been finding ways to figure things out, and many other studios have been coming to them to help get these anticipated movies made. Warner Brothers has stepped up big time, swallowing almost all of the Hobbit financial needs, and now MGM is confident enough to give Mr. Bond an official release date. [...] |
Posted: 11 Jan 2011 02:45 PM PST A pile of new actors have been added to the cast of Goats, the upcoming comedy from Red Crown Productions, Elliptical Films, and Sandia Media, which is set to begin filming next month. Joining the cast is David Duchovny (Californication, The X-Files), Vera Farmiga (The Departed, Up in the Air), Keri Russell (Felicity, Waitress), Minnie Driver (Good Will Hunting, Grosse Point Blank) and Will Arnett (SNL, Arrested Development). The movie is directed by Christopher Neil, the nephew of legendary filmmaker Francis Ford Coppola. The movie is based on the Mark Jude Poirier novel of the same name, which is a comical coming-of-age tale of a teen boy (played by Graham Phillips) who's on his way to prep school, leaving behind perhaps the most influential figure in his life: a free spirit type known as Goat Man (Duchovny), who was brought in by the boy's mother to do odd jobs around the house in exchange for food, shelter, and a place to keep his goats. Awesome ‘Fallout 3′ Inspired Power Armor Motorcycle Helmet Posted: 11 Jan 2011 01:37 PM PST Ever find yourself wanting to become a member of the Brotherhood of Steel while playing through your Fallout 3 campaign? Most of us would likely crumble trying to wear an entire suit of Power Armor, there's no doubt. But someone decided to make an awesome replica of one of the helmets, designed to be used on a futuristic motorcycle ride. I don't own a motorcycle, nor have I ever owned a motorcycle; but one thing is for sure: I would LOVE to have one of these bad boys. I'd wear it around my house, I don't care. You can see more images of this fantastic reproduction by clicking over to the other side, and be sure to head on over to Her Majesty's Thunder for links to more images showing off the helmet as it was being made by artist Josh Jay. Colin Farrell Confirmed For ‘Total Recall’ Remake; Will Not Be In 3D Posted: 11 Jan 2011 11:41 AM PST While speaking to Collider recently during a press day for The Green Hornet at the Sony Pictures lot, producer Neal Moritz shared a significant confirmation on another of his projects: Total Recall. Though called a remake of sorts with the 1990 Arnold Schwarzenegger movie of the same name being so popular, this new movie is more of a second adaptation of Philip K. Dick's short novel, We Can Remember It for You Wholesale. But who would play the lead role Arnie once played? Well, according to Moritz, the actor they've secured is Colin Farrell. This fits with a subtle-yet-interesting trend of casting much smaller gentlemen in roles Schwarzenegger once played. It also makes plenty of sense -- no point in getting your actor compared to the former bodybuilder when you can go in an entirely different direction. Moritz went on to answer many more questions about the movie, which will begin filming on May 15 in Toronto. You read the whole interview by heading over to the above link, but we'll try and note some of the more intriguing goodies. [...] |
