New ‘Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn’ Wedding Night Photo

Posted: 13 Jan 2011 04:58 AM PST

Breaking Dawn

Big day for Twilight fans -- a new photo is now online from The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part I showing Bella and Edward being intimate on their wedding night.

The image is exclusively available in this week's print edition of Entertainment Weekly magazine, but a low-quality version has already made its way online. See the image here below.

Back in November, Breaking Dawn director Bill Condon posted the first photo from the film online, which only showed Bella's hand lying on a bed clutching some feathers. It wasn't exactly something I found all that exciting, but Twilight fans went crazy for it because of what the image implied -- the human Bella (Kirsten Stewart) and the vampire Edward (Robert Pattinson) finally consummating their love.

This new official image of the couple, well, let's just say I think Twilight fans will really have something to go crazy over this time [...]

Twitter Challenges Gag Order, ‘Fights For The User’

Posted: 12 Jan 2011 08:28 PM PST

Tron / Twitter Mashup

The US Government recently issued a series of court orders aimed at technology companies that may have information concerning individuals affiliated with Wikileaks, the web organization that publishes classified information, such as the numerous cables from US ambassadors that's caused such a stir.

Microblogging social network Twitter was among the companies that were ordered to turn over information. Previous procedure for this type of activity would mean that Twitter would issue a communication to those users prior to handing over information to authorities. However, this court order had a specific gag order preventing them from doing this.

Twitter decided to challenge the order instead of blindly opening up their database.

Via Wired's Threat Level:

Twitter and other companies, notably Google, have a policy of notifying a user before responding to a subpoena, or a similar request for records. That gives the user a fair chance to go to court and try and quash the subpoena. [...]

‘You Can’t Stop Rock And Roll’ Or ‘Rock And Roll Is Dead’: Where Do You Stand?

Posted: 12 Jan 2011 12:28 PM PST

A debate has caught fire in the UK over the current state of rock music.

This all began with an article on The Guardian claiming that because rock music has seen a significant drop in singles sales recently, and with hip hop and pop growing in popularity, that rock is effectively a dead scene.

This has caused quite a stir.

It is a claim made before by, among others, Lenny Kravitz and the Swedish garage band the Hellacopters. But today, after years of struggle, came evidence to support the fearsome claim: rock'n'roll is dead. [...]

Han Solo in Carbonite - Firefly

Amy at Geek With Curves has spotted a Han Solo in Carbonite statue in several episodes of the television series Firefly.

Apparently, the props department jokingly added the statue onto the set, as the show's star Nathan Fillion is a big Star Wars fan, and in a bunch of cases, the statue wasn't caught and removed before filming.

Visit Amy's site for more screenshots of the insistences she found. (Good eye, Amy, go geek girl!!!) [...]

Star Trek meets Scooby Doo

When Kevin David Anderson, author of Night Of The Living Trekkies wants to kickstart his creative juices, he turns to some photoshop fun. He sent over his latest 'shop job to me today called Starfleet Scooby, which shows the Scooby-Doo gang as Star Trek Starfleet officers.

Here's Anderson's caption: "…and the Romulans would have gotten away with it too, if it hadn't been for those meddling Starfleet kids…"

Should we be concerned that Velma's in red? [...]
