Take A Look: Best Shot Of Chris Evans As Captain America Yet!

Posted: 13 Jan 2011 09:45 PM PST

We've seen a few peeks at the upcoming Marvel Studios film, Captain America: The First Avenger, including some Geeks of Doom exclusive shots from the set, but little has been seen of the Captain himself.

We've seen star Chris Evans in normal clothes and we've gotten a few teases of his World War II look, but a brand new image making its way around may be the best one yet.

Entertainment Weekly has yet another shot of Evans as Captain America, this time wearing a nice helmet, holding his shield, and standing in front of some intimidating gentlemen.

You can click on over to the other side to check out the image now, and again, don't forget this is set during WWII for the majority of the film. Don't expect to see some fancy modernized Captain America get-up...yet. [...]

Geek Tech: A Glimpse Into The Future; Are YOU Ready For Electronic Cereal Boxes?

Posted: 13 Jan 2011 07:42 PM PST

Is this the future? Some wild technology is here right now, and it could just be revving up to change the world as we know it.

At the recent Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, Nevada, many demonstrations were shown off. One of them involved a new wireless technology that would deliver a whole new type of power source to our homes and beyond.

For the demonstration, Fulton Innovation -- the technology's creator -- brought along some shelving and surfaces that look pretty much like any other shelving or surface you might look at. What's not seen, however, is power surging through these surfaces, which makes some very interesting things possible. The most entertaining of these, for those who aren't interested in the scientific stuff, are cereal boxes; they look just like regular cereal boxes, naturally, but when placed on these special surfaces, the cereal boxes illuminate playfully. Something sure to catch the eye of any passing child. But that, my friends, is just the beginning.

You can see a much more in-depth video of these crazy-cool cereal boxes and the even crazier technology behind them, as well as read about some more useful possibilities by heading on over to the other side now. [...]

Check It Out: ‘Star Wars’ Parody ‘Galactic Empire State of Mind’

Galactic Empire State of Mind

The brilliant minds over at College Humor have done it again, this time with a Star Wars-themed music video parody of the song "Empire State of Mind" by the artist Jay-Z.

Watch the video here below for "Galactic Empire State of Mind."

This video starts with the 20th Century Fox fanfare, then launches right into a rapping Darth Vader, as scenes from the original Star Wars trilogy play in the background.

During the chorus there is an audio track of Vader breathing while we see Leia playing Max Reebo's piano and her earphones are her famous swirl bun hair. This video not only jokes about the original trilogy, but it also pays tribute to it as well. One of the best jokes in this music video are the breakdancing Stormtroopers and Ewoks along with Rebel pilots. It also features the singing "Leia" character wearing the famous "slave" outfit from Return of the Jedi [...]

Flashpoint - DC Comics

Flashpoint is coming to the DC Universe later this year and it will be the next big event to look forward to. All day today, DC's blog The Source has been posting a series of teasers that give us a look into what the series will be about. Each image has a slogan that points to an alternate reality for DC's biggest heroes.

The whole line of teasers is titled "Whatever Happened to the World's Greatest Super Heroes" (a nod to Alan Moore's classic Superman story "Whatever Happened to the Man of Tomorrow" and Neil Gaiman's more recent "Whatever Happened to the Caped Crusader").

As of this posting four teasers have been released [...]

Geek Peek: First Look At Andrew Garfield As Spider-Man!

Posted: 13 Jan 2011 01:50 PM PST

The very first official image of Andrew Garfield in (almost) full costume as the web-slinging superhero, Spider-Man, has been released by Sony Pictures and Columbia Pictures, and it may just ease any worries you might have.

Spider-Man, which is directed by (500) Days of Summer helmer Marc Webb, is the fastest reboot of a major film property we've seen. It was decided to start over after things went south on the production of Spider-Man 4 just a little over a year ago to this day.

Not long after that we found out that Sony would be doing another origins story, starting with Peter Parker in high school before obtaining his powers instead of picking up with a new story within the mythos. This news was frowned upon even further when fans heard that 27-year-old Garfield was cast in the role, making his teenage character harder to swallow (even though Tobey Maguire was right around the same age at the time). [...]

New Yorker Spider-Man Musical

The cover of the current issue of The New Yorker magazine has an illustration by Barry Blitt poking some fun at the situation with the Spider-Man: Turn Off The Dark musical, which hasn't been too kind physically to the actors portraying the famous webslinger.

Julie Taymor's Broadway musical has been plagued with problems from the start, namely the numerous injuries to cast members, thanks to the show's daring stunts and aerial work [...]

The GameBoy iPhone 4 Case You’ll Never Own

GameBoy Case

Among the things shown off at CES 2011 by gadget accessory company Incipio was an iPhone 4 case inspired by Nintendo's classic GameBoy hand held gaming device.

The likeness appears on the back of the case's design, which includes raised buttons and a screen displaying the Apple logo. Although these are merely cosmetic changes, it's still pretty cool to sport outdated nostalgia from the 1990s [...]
