‘Community’ To Earn Geek Cred With ‘Dungeons & Dragons’ Episode Posted: 15 Jan 2011 09:59 PM PST The cast of NBC sitcom Community will soon be partaking in a rousing game of Dungeons and Dragons in an upcoming episode later this season. And when I say rousing, I mean there will be a bunch of people gathered around a table rather than a fully costumed-fantasy world, according to the show's creator Dan Harmon. Admittedly, I haven't really ever followed Community, although many of my geekier friends speak very highly of it. I found it sort of suspect that the cast held a panel at last year's San Diego Comic-Con. But, after watching the 'Zombie' Halloween episode and hearing this news, it may be enough for the show to earn its credibility with such a fan base [...] |
‘Hatchet II’ To Debut On DVD & Blu-ray This February Posted: 15 Jan 2011 07:17 PM PST Horror movie lovers will finally get to see Adam Green's Hatchet II when it arrives on DVD and Blu-ray on February 1, 2011. The sequel to 2007's Hatchet was scheduled to get a limited theatrical run in AMC theaters back in October, which is unheard of for movies with an NC-17 rating. Surprisingly, AMC then pulled the film from theaters soon after its release [Read: Adam Green's 'Hatchet 2' Pulled From AMC Theaters … But Why?]. Now, we'll finally get to see Hatchet II in its original unrated and uncensored cut. See synopsis and DVD/Blu-ray bonus features here below. The film stars Danielle Harris (Halloween), Tony Todd (Candyman), Kane Hodder (aka Jason Voorhees), Tom Holland (Director of Child's Play), and R.A. Mihailoff (aka Leatherface), and sees the return of slasher Victor Crowley [...] |
As Production Begins On ‘Torchwood’, Lauren Ambrose Joins Cast Posted: 15 Jan 2011 04:52 PM PST Entertainment Weekly and The Doctor Who News Page are reporting that Lauren Ambrose from Six Feet Under has joined the cast of Torchwood: Miracle Day, and will be portraying a character named Jilly Kitzinger. According to the EW report the character is "a sweet-talking PR genius with a heart of stone who's just cornered the most important client of her career... and maybe of all time". Filming and production has officially begun on Torchwood: Miracle Day in Los Angeles, and Ambrose now joins a cast that includes John Barrowman, Eve Myles, Mekhi Phifer, and Bill Pullman. The new season is expected to be broadcast on BBC and Starz in July 2011. Torchwood is a spin-off series from Doctor Who, that follows the immortal Captain Jack Harkness commanding the Torchwood Institute; an organization established to investigate alien involvement and appearances on Earth. New Behind-The-Scenes Images Of Denis Leary As George Stacy In ‘Spider-Man’ Posted: 15 Jan 2011 01:53 PM PST The big new reboot of Spider-Man for Sony and Columbia Pictures was obviously going to draw a lot of attention, and many photographers are itching to snap some sneaky shots of anything going on with the production. First we saw some spy pics of stars Andrew Garfield as Peter Parker and love interest Emma Stone as Gwen Stacy hanging out on what looks like high school football field bleachers. That was followed by the much less sneaky and much more official first image of Garfield in partial Spider-Man costume. Now comes some more sneaky shots, as someone was able to get a few good looks at Denis Leary, who was cast back in November, as Gwen's father, Captain George Stacy. You can see a few of these shots of Leary in costume on the set of director Marc Webb's new Spider-Man by continuing on below now. [...] |
Brian Azzarello and Eduardo Risso Re-team for Spaceman Posted: 15 Jan 2011 12:25 PM PST Fans of the Vertigo series 100 Bullets will be please to learn that the creative team behind that book, Brian Azzrello and Eduardo Risso are teaming up again for a new series coming from Vertigo comics this year. The series will be titled Spaceman, and that's about all we know at this point. If you go to DC's blog The Source, you can see a conversation between Azzarello and Editor Will Dennis about the series, as well as some preview art. While details may be in short order at this point, the creative team alone has me excited to read this. 100 Bullets is a great series (especially at the start, the series does get a little confusing in the middle) and Azzarello and Risso have teamed up on other projects (Batman: Broken City, Wednesday Comics) to decent results, so I have no reason to think this will be bad. I'm sure we'll learn more about the series as it gets closer to its release, but if we're lucky we'll get another great series out of it. |
Updates and Clarification On DC’s ‘Flashpoint’ Posted: 15 Jan 2011 08:09 AM PST As you know by being a great reader of this site, we reported on Thursday that DC Comics released several teaser banners for the upcoming Flashpoint event from writer Geoff Johns and artist Andy Kubert. The banners didn't have any specific images, just the Flashpoint logo, along with several taglines containing clues about the upcoming event. But on Friday, DC released teaser images that added a little bit of clarification on some of the more mysterious taglines. Let's take a look, shall we? [...] |
