Marvel Reveals Which ‘Fantastic Four’ Member Will Die Before The Comic Ends [SPOILERS] Posted: 25 Jan 2011 12:38 AM PST For those of you who do not read comic books and do not follow Marvel Comics' Fantastic Four, it's been known for a while now that the series -- which debuted in 1961 and has spawned two Hollywood movies -- would be ending at issue #588, and that one of the elite four members would die before it was all said and done. Who exactly would perish, however, has been a guarded secret, and only now is it being revealed whose story ends right before the Fantastic Four comic series ends. Obviously if you do read these comics, you don't want to know the answer to this question, so DO NOT continue reading. For the rest of you, click on over to the other side to find out if it's Mr. Fantastic, Invisible Woman, The Human Torch, or The Thing whose fate has been sealed. [...] |
Must Watch: Fan Made ‘Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles’ Short Posted: 24 Jan 2011 10:37 PM PST I, like many, many others, am a huge fan of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. This has been the case for most (including myself) since the first time they saw the original live-action movie in theaters back in 1990, and for some others who go back as far as the original comic book they were born in. Over the years, the superhero mutant reptiles have always remained popular and don't seem to be going anywhere anytime soon with another new movie said to be in the making. One thing life-long fans --especially the ones now in their late-20s and 30s -- have wanted to see a less silly and more realistic, darker Ninja Turtles movie hit the screen. It's unclear whether this darker movie will ever be made, but one fan is doing their part to give us an idea what it might look like if it did. This fan made a short video of his own TMNT action called Fight the Foot. It's quite brief, but a must-see for fans. You can see it now by clicking on over to the other side. [...] |
Kevin Smith Decides To Distribute ‘Red State’ Himself; Angers The “Masses” Posted: 24 Jan 2011 06:15 PM PST Director Kevin Smith started a bit of a wildfire last night when his new horror movie, Red State, was set to be auctioned off at the Sundance Film Festival. Instead of auctioning off the rights to the room full of buyers, Smith declared that he would be buying his own movie for $20, and self-distributing the movie himself. The decision and the way it played out was not looked upon with happy faces according to multiple reports, who say Smith wasted their time and made a mockery of what they do for a living. Whether that's the case or not, the reasoning behind Smith's decision seems to be more of a statement. Instead of his movie -- which went through many difficulties in getting made and looked like it might never even happen for a long while -- being acquired by a studio and said studio spending millions on marketing it, Smith wanted to prove that he could do things his way without all the outlandish costs and still find success. Posted: 24 Jan 2011 04:54 PM PST Wizard Magazine, pop culture bastion for some, ad-filled sell-out to others, has officially closed up shop. Not much is known about the closure other than the staff was let go today, according to Bleeding Cool. Love it or hate there's still something sad about the thought of not seeing it on the rack beside the comic books in the local shop. Wizard plans to launch Wizard World in February 2011 as an all-new digital magazine that will "provide coverage of the world of comic books, toys and superheroes, and the personalities behind them," according to a press release via Newsarama. When the magazine launched in 1991 it was a must for fans of indie comics looking for reviews and information about their favorite titles and creators. In the 2000s, the magazine was retooled to be more mainstream friendly. Gone were the heavy fanboy articles and reviews in favor of more wide audience friendly news and previews. Many hardcore fans of the magazine will tell you that this was the era in which the magazine died [...] |
‘Mortal Kombat’ Web Series Officially Green Lit Posted: 24 Jan 2011 01:13 PM PST Warner Bros. officially announced production of a 10-episode Mortal Kombat web series based on the Mortal Kombat: Rebirth fan-made movie trailer released months ago. (Embedded below for anyone who missed it.) The series will be directed by Rebirth creator Kevin Tancharoen and have Michael Jai White returning to play General Jax Briggs. No other casting news has been announced at this time and production will start some time in February. So, has Hollywood finally come to its senses and realized the potential in producing original content for the web? Unfortunately, the answer is no for now [...] |

Coming To America: ‘The Big 4′ Metal Tour! Posted: 24 Jan 2011 08:48 AM PST Looks like The Big 4 metal tour will be making its way to the United States! Who are The Big 4? Oh, only the greatest metal bands of all time -- Metallica, Slayer, Megadeth, and Anthrax -- touring together on the same bill! Back in June, the thrash metal giants did a two-week stint in Europe, using footage from one of the shows for a DVD/Blu-ray release titled The Big Four: Live From Sofia, Bulgaria. At the time, it seemed that this would be a once-in-a-lifetime event, but now the tour plans to expand to other parts of Europe this Summer AND into the United States, too! [...] |
