Geek Gear: Star Trek ‘Original Space Drunk’ Shirt Posted: 09 Feb 2011 05:04 AM PST The t-shirt deal of the day over at RIPT Apparel is a Star Trek-inspired shirt called "Original Space Drunk." The tee, by artist D4N13L, went on sale at RIPT today, Wednesday, February 9, 2011, at midnight CST, and will continue for 24 hours from then, and once it's over, it will not be sold on the site anymore. The design is a parody of the Captain Morgan rum label, replacing the swashbuckling rum mascot with Star Trek's Captain Kirk, who here has his foot up on a downed Red Shirt with the Enterprise starship in the background. Original Spiced Gold becomes Original Space Drunk, and the text underneath tells us all about how Captain Kirk is "boldly going anywhere, banging anything, and getting red shirts killed in the process" (which is pretty spot on) [...] |
Celebrate Jules Verne’s Birthday With Google’s Interactive Doodle Posted: 08 Feb 2011 07:07 PM PST I know this is coming late in the day, but I couldn't let this occasion pass without mentioning it: Today marks what would be Jules Verne's 183rd birthday. As with many special occasions, Google has created one of their popular doodles in celebration, this one being an interactive nautical theme referencing the author's popular novel, 20,000 Leagues under the Sea There's a lever on the right side of the logo that allows you to control the doodle submarine, but what I didn't realize is that, according to The Telegraph, if you view it on an iPad or iPhone, you can tilt the device to have the water level move in any direction you want! ‘X-Men’ Star Famke Janssen To Be Hunted In ‘Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters’ Posted: 08 Feb 2011 03:27 PM PST It's being reported that Famke Janssen (X-Men, House on Haunted Hill) has signed on to join the cast of Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters, the updated sequel of sorts to the old German fairy tale, Hansel and Gretel. Janssen is set to play the leader of a group of witches who have their hands full with the brother and sister duo of Hansel and Gretel. The story takes place 15 years after the siblings were lured to a wonderful and inviting gingerbread house by a vile witch with plans of cooking and eating them. After escaping their close encounter with the witch, the pair grow up bent on vengeance and ultimately become bounty hunters set on finding and destroying all witches. Not too long ago, it was reported that Hansel and Gretel would be played by Jeremy Renner (The Hurt Locker, The Town) and Gemma Arterton (Quantum of Solace, Clash of the Titans). [...] |
Music Review: Motörhead – The World Is Yours Posted: 08 Feb 2011 01:21 PM PST Motörhead The World Is Yours Producer Cameron Webb Future PLC/Motörhead Music Release date: January 17 (UK) | February 8 (U.S.) 2011 In 1975 Ian 'Lemmy' Kilmister was fired from British space-rock group Hawkwind. He wasted no time in getting back on the music horse and quickly formed a new three-piece band which almost as a direct opposite to Hawkwind was loud, fast, and if it moved in next door to you 'your lawn would die'. Lemmy continued to play the bass (despite having no experience when he joined Hawkwind four years earlier) and a suitable name was chosen. Sadly Lemmy was persuaded against calling his new band Bastard and changed it to the infinitely superior Motörhead. An incredible 36 years later Motörhead is still going and continues to record new albums at an admirable rate. The World Is Yours is Motörhead's 20th studio album and sounds as fresh as the first [...] |

New ‘Call Of Juarez’ Game Announced … Set In Modern Los Angeles Posted: 08 Feb 2011 09:57 AM PST Before Red Dead Redemption arrived, very few western games existed, let alone ones that could be enjoyed. Red Dead took it to an entirely different level -- something that western fans have been itching to get their hands on for a long while now -- but before its arrival only a couple were worth even trying out, including GUN and the duo of Call of Juarez: Bound in Blood. The Call of Juarez games and GUN certainly aren't anything that were bound for video game supremacy, but if you're as much of a sucker for westerns as I am, they're a ton of fun. Great western settings, stories, and of course music, were all that was needed to offer up a worthwhile gaming experience in the old west. When Red Dead did arrive and showed how incredible and magnificent a western game could be, one could have assumed that it would push those planning to make their own western games or sequels to existing franchises such as the ones mentioned above to make the biggest and best games they could make. But is that the case? [...] |
Interview With Chad Lindberg, Star Of 2010′s ‘I Spit On Your Grave’ Posted: 08 Feb 2011 06:20 AM PST The original I Spit On Your Grave was easily one of the most controversial films of the 1970s. The plot was simple: a young woman is raped by a group of men and she takes revenge on said rapists. It's a story that has been told over and over, but this particular version of the story was one of the most visceral and disturbing tellings of that story ever. In 2010, the movie was remade and it hit festivals garnering a similar reaction to the first film. The unrated version of the 2010 I Spit on Your Grave comes to DVD and Blu-ray on February 8. I sat down for a one-on-one chat with one of the stars, Chad Lindberg, to discuss his experiences making this film and watching it [...] |
