Watch Now: Is This Footage From The ‘Thundercats’ Movie Better Than The New Animated Series?

Posted: 12 Feb 2011 06:51 PM PST

OK, allow us to catch you up on all things Thundercats.

Way back when (a few years ago), it was reported that a new movie based on the classic animated Thundercats was on the way from Warner Brothers. The movie adaptation never quite found its legs, and has been in production purgatory ever since. Then last June we found out that WB Animation was entering into a collaboration with Japan's Studio4°C for a new Thundercats animated series that would have anime influences.

Just recently the first images from the animated series showed up online, but today comes a special bit of footage from the lost Thundercats CG movie that was once on the way. It's pretty cheesy, to be completely honest, and a lot of work would have to be done if they decided to bring the movie back to life, but it is worth seeing for you fans.

You can see the Thundercats movie clip as well as an image from the upcoming animated series below by clicking on over now. [...]

Charlize Theron Latest To Join Ridley Scott’s ‘Prometheus’; Michael Fassbender Talks ‘Alien’ Connection

Posted: 12 Feb 2011 03:51 PM PST

The biggest name so far to be cast in Ridley Scott's maybe-possibly Alien prequel, Prometheus, has been officially announced.

Reports are that Charlize Theron, who's name has been one of many wanted for a role in the movie, has joined the cast in what's assumed will be the female lead. Theron won an Oscar for her role in Monster, and is known for her work on films like The Devil's Advocate, The Cider House Rules, The Italian Job, North Country, Æon Flux, and Hancock.

Theron joins a small-yet-growing cast that includes Michael Fassbender, who has starred in movies like 300, Inglourious Basterds, Centurion, and the upcoming X-Men: First Class (watch the trailer here), as well as Noomi Rapace, who appeared in The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo and its Millennium Trilogy.

Fassbender also spoke to MTV recently and talked about the movie's ties to Alien, and what drew him to the script. [...]

Analyzing The ‘X-Men: First Class’ Trailer

X-Men: First Class

Thursday gave us our first look at the trailer for X-Men: First Class, the next in the popular series of X-Men movies. The new movie, directed by Matthew Vaughn (Stardust, Kick-Ass), places the adventures in the early days of the team, giving us a look at a still-walking Charles Xavier (James McAvoy), a not yet completely evil Magneto (Michael Fassbender), and the first team of X-Men.

The first interesting thing to me is the trailer's use of footage from the earlier X-Men films while setting the film firmly during the 1960s and the Cuban Missile Crisis. I can't decide if they want the new film to stand on its own, or if they want to make this part of the earlier series. I can see how they could fit a young Beast into the movie, with the older version that appears in X3, but I am curious if they will try to match Emma Frost's (January Jones) appearance in this film with the character's appearance in Wolverine: Origins, or if they will just ignore it. As for setting the story during the Cuban Missile Crisis, I kind of wish they had set it a few years later and tied it into the first Apollo launch, as a nod to the original X-Men #1 [...]
