Happy 60th Birthday Ace Frehley! Posted: 27 Apr 2011 05:37 AM PDT Today, April 27, 2011, legendary original KISS guitarist Ace Frehley celebrates his 60th birthday! KISS has long been one of my favourite bands of all time. The original Frehley-era albums including Dressed To Kill and Destroyer are some of the greatest I have ever heard, owing a lot to Frehley's colourful guitar work. During this period KISS also produced two of the greatest live rock albums of all time in Alive! and Alive II. In 1978, the four original KISS members recorded solo albums. Ace's has always been far and away my favourite. His version of "New York Groove" gets better with every listen (and there have been many) and is guaranteed to put a smile on my face [...] |
William Shatner Receives Honorary Headbanger Award Posted: 26 Apr 2011 09:41 PM PDT It is official now: William Shatner is an Honorary Headbanger. As we brought to your attention several weeks ago, Captain Kirk himself had been nominated to receive the Honorary Headbanger Award at the annual Revolver Awards. Shatner received his award during the ceremony, and photos of the event are now available for you to check out at the bottom of this post. Scott Ian from Anthrax and comedian Brian Posehn presented the award to Shatner, which is handed out to someone who is not necessarily seen as being in the metal community, but embodies the spirit of metal. The award is a timely one for Shatner, who is currently working on a new music project: his first-ever metal album [...] |

Here's the official short synopsis for the film: Continuing the epic big-screen adventures started in "Iron Man," "The Incredible Hulk," "Iron Man 2," "Thor," and "Captain America: The First Avenger," "Marvel's The Avengers" is the Super Hero team up of a lifetime. Marvel Brings Back A Classic Team-Up For ‘From the Marvel Vault #1′ Posted: 26 Apr 2011 01:23 PM PDT Marvel is bringing back some classic stories to a new generation with this new series of reprints, called From the Marvel Vault. The first issue, From the Marvel Vault #1, features a team-up of the Human Torch and The Incredible Hulk. The two heroes must fight a villain who has captured the power of the Moon's gravitational pull making him equal to Magneto. The story was originally crafted by artist Steve Ditko and writers Jack C. Harris and Karl Kesel. We have a first look at Incredible Hulk and Human Torch: From the Marvel Vault #1 for your perusal. The good news is that the reprint is a buck cheaper at $2.99 than the new books on shelves. Posted: 26 Apr 2011 09:27 AM PDT Firebreather Blu-ray | DVD Directed by Peter Chung Starring Dana Delany, Jesse Head Cartoon Network Release date: March 22, 2011 Firebreather is a new movie/TV pilot which was on Cartoon Network around Thanksgiving of last year, but is now available on DVD and Blu-ray. Firebreather is based on the Image comic by Phil Hester and Andy Kuhn and it follows the adventures of a teenager named Duncan (Jesse Head), as he moves to a new school and deals with the normal high school stuff. The only difference is that his dad is a 150-foot lizard monster named Belloc (Kevin Michael Richardson). Duncan's dad is the king of the Kaiju, a race of giants who threaten mankind. Duncan, however, is half kaiju and half human, so while most of the time he looks fairly normal, in times of stress he will get all scaly, grow wings, and breathe fire. As the future leader of the kaiju, Duncan's father expects him to be tough, while his mom expects him to live as a normal teenager with school and everything else that entails. As the heir, Duncan has to prove himself against other kaiju who are looking to gain power themselves. [...] |
