Movie Review: Farmageddon

Farmageddon
DIRECTED BY: Kristin Canty
FEATURING: Jackie Stowers, Linda Faillace, Barbara and Steve Smith, Eric Wagoner, Joel Salatin, Mark McAfee
Kristin Marie Productions
RELEASE DATE: July 8, 2011 (limited)

Back in 2008, the curtain was pulled back on the food industry in a documentary titled Food Inc., which gave us a horrific look at the large food corporations and their horrific practices, as well as the damage they're doing to small American farms. And like any well–done documentary like it, the movie infuriated the masses, sparking an outlash toward these corporations in hopes of setting things right.

Although a lot of work still needs to be done in that area, unfortunately it also doesn't end there. There's many layers of the food industry we don't see, and therefore don't know of. Out of sight, out of mind. Which is why it's so important for people to tell their stories and inform the public of what's really going on; the more people that know about these things, the more voices you have fighting against it. And that's what it's all about: finding the voices to fight the wrongs, like real–life superheroes. [...]

15 New Images From ‘The Amazing Spider-Man’ Released

Posted: 17 Jul 2011 06:18 PM PDT

Some solid new images from Columbia Pictures' upcoming reboot of the Spider–Man franchise, titled The Amazing Spider–Man, have been released online via Entertainment Weekly.

The new images offer up quite a bit to look at...and perhaps criticize for the good and/or bad. You'll see some more peeks at star Andrew Garfield in full Spidey costume, his homemade web–shooters, and sans–costume trying out his powers on the subway, on the basketball court, and setting another student straight at school. You'll see some of Garfield with love interest Gwen Stacy (Emma Stone), and with Uncle Ben (Martin Sheen) and Aunt May (Sally Field). Also shown off is a couple of looks at villain Dr. Curt Connors (Rhys Ifans) and Gwen's dad, George Stacy (Denis Leary).

Posted: 17 Jul 2011 01:43 PM PDT

The Hobbit

For that past ten days, character photos have been released of the dwarves who will be the companions to Bilbo Baggins in part one of Peter Jackson's Hobbit films. We've seen Nori, Ori, and Dori; Oin and Gloin; Fili and Kili; Bofur, Bombur & Bifur; and Balin and Dwalin. But, of course, we've all been waiting to see the head honcho himself, Thorin Oakenshield.

Well, today, we finally get that first look at Richard Armitage as the dwarf lord Thorin Oakenshield, holding his weapon of choice -- Orcrist, the Goblin-cleaver -- in The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey.

Watch Now: The 21 Deaths Of Sean Bean

Posted: 17 Jul 2011 10:49 AM PDT

Sean Bean

Let me start off this article by saying something that I know a lot of people think but rarely vocalize: Sean Bean is a great actor and one badass motherfucker. When he's not kicking ass in movies like The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring and the recent Black Death and on television in HBO's Game of Thrones, he's waving off stab wounds after defending the honor of his girlfriend in a bar fight.

He's also been killed more times on screen than most actors I or you can think of, and usually in spectacular fashion. Never let it be said the man didn't know how to make a great exit. A few days ago, Harry Hanrahan over at Pajiba put together a 4-minute-long video compilation of Bean's death scenes and set to Giles Lamb and the Dead Island Quartet's theme music from the announcement trailer for the video game Dead Island.
