Big Name Action Actresses Cast In ‘Danger Girl’ Film Posted: 22 Aug 2011 04:05 PM PDT Back in April 2010, it was announced that a big-screen adaptation of the Wildstorm comic book series Danger Girl was in the works with Todd Lincoln at the helm and Adrian Askarieh producing. Apparently, three big name actresses -- two of whom are kick-ass action stars -- are now attached to star in the film as the three Danger Girls from the series. Latino Review is reporting that Milla Jovovich, Kate Beckinsale, and Sofia Vergara will be taking on these roles. That is some serious business right there considering the nature of the Danger Girl comic book series, which debuted in 1998 from creators J. Scott Campbell and Andy Hartnell. It's an action-adventure spy series that revolves around a group of highly intelligent and deadly buxom babes, all of whom have special skills in weaponry, demolitions, treasure-hunting, and more, of the top-secret organization Danger Girl [...] |
Read This Preview Of Anne Rice’s ‘Servant of the Bones’ Comic Book Series Posted: 22 Aug 2011 02:58 PM PDT Back in April, IDW Publishing announced the release of a new six-issue miniseries comic book adaptation of Anne Rice's 1996 novel Servant of the Bones. Now, just before the series launch on August 24, 2011, the publisher has given io9 an exclusive preview of the first issue. In Servant of the Bones, Azriel is an immortal spirit who is bound to the gold-encased bones of his mortal body. Throughout the story, he struggles to understand whether he is a ghost, genie, demon or angel. He shares his story with the reader as he travels from an ancient Babylon of royal plots and religious upheavals to Europe during the Black Death and on to the modern world in New York City. Amidst the towers of Manhattan, he finds himself in confrontation with his own human memories and the dark forces that have sought to condemn him to a life of evil and destruction. [...] |
‘Back To The Future’ Co-Writer Gives Insight Into Doc & Marty’s Friendship Posted: 22 Aug 2011 02:15 PM PDT One of the most beloved film franchise, Back To The Future, also features one of the most beloved friendships, between characters Dr. Emmett L. Brown and Marty McFly. However, we didn't quite know what had happened to bring the two characters together. Until now. Thanks to co-writer Bob Gale who, after finding a question about the friendship on Mental Floss, decided to elaborate. Hit the jump to see what the man behind the film, well, one of them, had to say [...] |
Johnny Knoxville and Patton Oswalt Join David Gordon Green-Produced Comedy Posted: 22 Aug 2011 01:25 PM PDT Despite being a part of some genuinely mediocre projects, Johnny Knoxville appears to be as hot a comedic property as ever. Big Beach Films has announced that Knoxville and fellow comedian Patton Oswalt will star in a new yet-to-be-titled film from director Todd Rohal. The movie will follow the story of a "pair of battling brothers who attempt to honor their ailing father by taking a troop of boys on a last ditch camping trip that goes wildly wrong." Cody Horn Joins Steven Soderbergh’s ‘Magic Mike’ Posted: 22 Aug 2011 12:05 PM PDT Who better to do a film about male strippers than Stephen Soderbergh, right? That's exactly what the director plans on working on in the coming future, and with the cast growing at an ever speedy rate, the Soderbergh's low budget Magic Mike appears to be one of the hotter projects going around Hollywood. The Playlist has revealed that actress Cody Horn has been tapped for the film's female lead, and will play opposite the likes of Channing Tatum, Alex Pettyfer, Matthew McConaughey, Matt Bomer, Joe Manganiello, and Riley Keough [...] |

‘Lone Ranger’ Going On Without Gore Verbinski? Posted: 22 Aug 2011 10:13 AM PDT Things are getting really interesting on the Lone Ranger front. After having a handful of issues with its budget, things appear to be moving forward on the project still. However, at this year's D23 expo, producer Rich Ross made the web a buzz by instead of mentioning someone, he omitted someone. Deadline has noted that, in a discussion about the film, the producer stated that "I'm hoping to do it. I'm certainly hoping. I think it's a compelling story and no one wants to work with Jerry and Johnny more than me, so we'll see how it works." Normal statement, right? Not when taking into account the omission of director Gore Verbinski [...] |
