‘Romancing The Stone’ Remake Still Happening? Posted: 26 Aug 2011 06:13 PM PDT This week is one of forgotten remake projects sudden popping their heads of to say, "I'm still here!" Invisible Man, Vacation, Fletch, and The Fantastic Voyage are all apparently alive and well, and so is the planned remake of Romancing the Stone. It was way back in December 2008 when it was announced that FOX would remake of the 1984 romantic comedy adventure starring Michael Douglas, Kathleen Turner, and Danny DeVito. Originally, the studio wanted their new movie to come out in 2011, with Daniel McDermott penning the script. Exactly one year later, it was reported that Robert Luketic had been been brought on to direct the remake. Now, MovieHole is reporting that this long-forgotten remake is still a-go, though Luketic is off the film and FOX on the lookout for a new director who will have a "fresh, exciting take" on the project [...] |
‘Supernatural’ Creator Signs On For ‘Deadman’ TV Series Posted: 26 Aug 2011 05:05 PM PDT The CW is looking to Eric Kripke, the creator of long-running hit series Supernatural, to head up the creation of the network's newest possible show, based on DC Comics' Deadman character. This news comes in the wake of Smallville's tenth and final season, and reportedly CW is on the lookout for a new superhero series, and Deadman is one of the projects that has potential. If you're not familiar with Deadman, let me catch you up. In the comics, Boston Brand was a circus daredevil who wore a red costume and corpse paint. Unfortunately for him, during a trapeze act one day, he was viciously gunned down by an unknown man. Fortunately for us, however, Boston Brand was reborn as the superhero ghost named Deadman. Deadman used his unique ability to transfer his spirit from body to body, including super-powered heroes and villains, to fight crime and find out the identity of his killer [...] |

Comic Review: Kevin Smith’s The Bionic Man #1 Posted: 26 Aug 2011 03:00 PM PDT Kevin Smith's The Bionic Man #1 Written by Kevin Smith and Phil Hester Art by Jonathan Lau Dynamite Entertainment $3.99 Release date: August 24, 2011 The last time Colonel Steve Austin was published in comic book form was in June of 1978. Thirty-three years later, Dynamite Entertainment brings him back in The Bionic Man #1. Ladies and gentlemen, it was worth the wait. For those of you expecting Steve Austin of Six Million Dollar Man fame to be full-on bionic in this issue, you'll be a little disappointed. But, that's about the only thing that's lacking in this first issue. Dynamite made a spectacular decision by putting their A-Team of Phil Hester and Jonathan Lau on this book. The team did a fantastic job adapting Kevin Smith's Green Hornet screenplay into a fun, action-packed and all around excellent comic, and to no one's surprise, they do the same thing here [...] |
5 Reasons To See The ‘Fright Night’ Remake Posted: 26 Aug 2011 01:34 PM PDT I'm not big on remakes or 3D, so this new Fright Night 3D remake already had two strikes against it just in the title alone. Yet, somehow, the movie won me over. Typically, upon hearing that a film is being remade, I immediately scoff and question why, especially if the original film is a classic that I feel doesn't need an update. The remake of 1983's Fright Night, which is in theaters now, stars Colin Farrell as the vampire Jerry Dandrige and former Doctor Who star David Tennant as vampire slayer Peter Vincent. Now, if you enjoyed the original movie, you're probably wondering why you should bother to go see the new version, which was released in both 2D and 3D. While I'm a fan of the original Fright Night, I really like the remake, so I feel there's room for enjoyment of both films. Therefore, here's 5 Reasons To See The Fright Night Remake [...] |
Blu-ray Review: Doctor Who Series Six Part 1 Posted: 26 Aug 2011 10:00 AM PDT Doctor Who Series Six Part One DVD | Blu-Ray Starring Matt Smith, Karen Gillan, Arthur Darvill, Alex Kingston, Stuart Milligan, Mark Sheppard, Suranne Jones, Frances Barber Written by Steven Moffat, Stephen Thompson, Neil Gaiman, Matthew Graham Directed by Toby Haynes, Jeremy Webb, Richard Clark, Julian Simpson, Peter Hoar BBC Warner Home Video Release Date: July 19, 2011 The BBC release of the first half of Doctor Who Series 6 presents fans a chance to grab a hold of the episodes aired this year before the second half airs on August 27. With fascination with the Time Lord at an all time high in America since the days of Tom Baker, it makes sense that the BBC would officially release Series 6 Part 1 while the time is ripe. Series 6 of Doctor Who does not kick off immediately after the previous adventures in Series 5. Instead, some time has passed, and companions Amy Pond (Karen Gillan) and Rory Williams (Arthur Darvill) have been separated from the Doctor (Matt Smith) for an as of yet unexplained reason. The companions and River Song (Alex Kingston) obtain an invitation in TARDIS-blue envelopes to meet somewhere in the United States at a specific time [...] |
Posted: 26 Aug 2011 09:02 AM PDT Arthur Blu-ray | DVD | On Demand Directed by Jason Winer Starring Russell Brand, Helen Mirren, Greta Gerwig, Jennifer Garner, Geraldine James, Luis Guzmán Warner Bros. Home Video Release Date: July 15, 2011 Arthur, stars Russell Brand as the title character who's a rich, alcoholic, heir to a business empire. Through his life, Arthur has squandered his fortune on space suits, a magnetic floating bed, telephone booth aquariums, movie memorabilia, specifically movie cars, and lots and lots of alcohol. After Arthur gets arrested for wrecking the Batmobile from Batman and Robin, Arthur's mother (Geraldine James), the keeper of the family fortune, gives him an ultimatum: either straighten up and get his life together by marrying Susan Johnson (Jennifer Garner), or lose his inheritance. The only problem, Arthur has fallen in love Naomi (Greta Gerwig), a simple woman from Queens. Will Arthur give up everything for the woman he loves? Or will he sacrifice the one he loves for the almighty dollar? You can only find out by watching the movie. Or by thinking logically if you've seen any movie that has this plot, which I'm sure you have since 80 percent of movies in existence all have this premise, according to Hunter Camp's False Movie Facts. And that's the main problem with the film [...] |
David S. Goyer Talks Impending ‘Invisible Man’ Project Posted: 26 Aug 2011 08:08 AM PDT Talk about a forgettable project. Back in 2008, it was announced that writer/director David S. Goyer was set to bring the story of The Invisible Man back to the big screen. Since then, news has gone pretty much cold. Well, Goyer -- best known for his contributions to The Dark Knight -- has gotten back at it, and is now talking as to what one should expect from the picture, and it sounds, interesting. Goyer recently chatted with the LA Times, and revealed that the film will be similar to something like the recent Sherlock Holmes film, saying that "it's a period film, but it's period like Downey's Sherlock Holmes." He also goes on to compare it to something like The Mummy, but then again, that doesn't really get anyone too excited, does it? [...] |
Johnny Depp Takes Another Hunter S. Thompson Ride In ‘The Rum Diary’ Trailer Posted: 26 Aug 2011 07:00 AM PDT The long–awaited first trailer for The Rum Diary starring Johnny Depp has finally made its way to the 'net. Depp plays Paul Kemp in the story, which is based on Thompson's novel of the same name. Though the story and characters are fictional, as was the case with Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, Depp once again plays a character whose path very much embodies the same paths Thompson himself once traveled. Fans of both Thompson and Fear and Loathing have been itching to get their eyes on this one for a long time now, and it grows ever closer with a release currently set for October 28, 2011. You can check out the trailer for The Rum Diary by heading below now! [...] |
