Photobooth Teaser Trailer For ‘American Pie 4′ Released Online

The first teaser trailer for American Pie 4, titled American Reunion, has been released online by Universal Pictures.

The trailer is about as teaser as they come, only showing a bunch of photobooth pictures of the returning cast to a song all too familiar to American Pie fans. For those who don't care about this fourth installment in the franchise (not counting all of those unwatchable straight–to–video spinoffs), the teaser will likely be pretty boring. But for those of you (like myself) who were around the same age as the characters when the first movie hit in 1999, there's a nice little touch of nostalgia to be had here (and hopefully in the final product).

Comic Book Art Blogs Worth Viewing: Francesco Francavilla

There are a lot of great comic book art blogs out there, beyond the deviantart pages of the world, and if you're a comic book fan, these are webpages that you should be checking out on a daily basis. This week, I'm going to highlight a few that I think are worthy of your attention or are just pages for some of my favorite artists.

Today we take a look at the blog for artist Francesco Francavilla, who most recently worked on Detective Comics with Scott Snyder and Jock, and will soon be working on Snyder's Swamp Thing, splitting time with Yannick Paquette. Francavilla actually has several webpages to go to. There is his main site, viewed here, which is basically a hub to all of his sites. Then there is his Pulp Sunday site, which is basically what it sounds like. Each Sunday, he posts an image, sometimes for an actual comic, but generally for a fake book that we'll never see. Francavilla takes a pulp hero or story and creates a mock cover for them in his unique style. It is a treat for fans of characters like Flash Gordon, The Shadow, and others [...]

‘Max Payne’ Director John Moore Chosen By Fox, Bruce Willis To Helm ‘Die Hard 5′

After a lengthy search by 20th Century Fox, director John Moore has been hired to helm the currently untitled Die Hard 5.

Apparently Fox was already very high on Moore to direct, but star Bruce Willis—known for being very involved in the productions he's working on—was a big part of meeting with various directors and helping to choose which one he thought was best for the job. Other candidates included Justin Lin (Fast Five), Joe Cornish (Attack the Block), Nicolas Winding Refn (Drive), Mikael Hafstrom (1408), Gary Fleder (Runaway Jury), and Paul McGuigan (Lucky Number Slevin).

Noam Murro was originally set to direct the fifth installment in the action franchise, but eventually decided to drop out and take on the sequel to Zack Snyder's 300, titled Battle Of Artemisia.

Moore has previously directed Behind Enemy Lines, Flight of the Phoenix, The Omen remake, and video game adaptation Max Payne—all of which were for Fox. [...]

Doctor Who is back, and the Time Lord (Matt Smith) returns to Earth following an unconventional summons from companions Amy Pond (Karen Gillan) and Rory Williams (Arthur Darvill) to find out his progress in locating their daughter. However, the reunion soon goes awry, as their childhood friend Mels (Nina Toussaint-White) hijacks the heroes and the TARDIS by gunpoint.

What follows is an unusual adventure that takes them to Nazi Germany in 1938, sets them face-to-face with Adolf Hitler (Albert Welling) and reunites them with River Song (Alex Kingston)

Actress Sienna Guillory Returning As Jill Valentine For ‘Resident Evil 5′

Another returning actor has been locked in for Paul W.S. Anderson's next feature, the fifth installment in the Resident Evil franchise, titled Resident Evil: Retribution.

Actress Sienna Guillory, who played the character of Jill Valentine in both Resident Evil: Apocalypse and Resident Evil: Afterlife, will be returning to the role in the new movie.

Guillory first let it be known on the Twitter that she was on her way to meet Anderson and others about whether she would be involved, and then followed that up with a Tweet confirmation: "THANK YOU SO MUCH! RETRIBUTION HERE I COME!"

Milla Jovovich is also returning to the role of Alice, which she's played in all of the movies so far, and the movie will begin filming in Japan this fall for a release planned for September of 2012. [...]

So remember yesterday when I wrote about a rumor regarding the upcoming Star Wars Blu-ray Editions coming out in September? It was some shocking news about how in the Blu-ray for Return Of The Jedi a revision was made so that Darth Vader now shouts "Nooooo!!!" when he stops the Emperor from killing Luke. [Read Nooooo!!! Did George Lucas Make Darth Vader Even Wimpier In The 'Star Wars' Blu-ray Edition?]

Well, guess what? It's true, it's all TRUE! A representative from LucasFilm confirmed the news today to the NY Times.

"Yes—Darth says NO."

Seriously? How much more can George Lucas desecrate the Star Wars movies? I really shouldn't ask that question, because there's plenty more footage to doctor up in the future [...]

BioWare Says ‘Mass Effect’ Will Continue, But Without Commander Shepard

The Mass Effect trilogy is an incredible video game achievement (assuming you're assuming that Mass Effect 3 will be as insanely good as everyone else is assuming it will be), but it doesn't end with the third game in the series, which is set to hit shelves on March 6, 2012.

Speaking to PC Gamer at Gamescom recently, BioWare co-founder Dr. Ray Muzyka talked about the continuation of the series after Mass Effect 3. When asked if this was the end, Muzyka said "Not at all, no. We have ambitious plans to continue this franchise going forward. Mass Effect 3 is simultaneously a couple of different things: a thrilling and epic conclusion to the trilogy as we promised our fans we'd provide for Commander Shepard, but it's also a brand new beginning – it's an entry point for new fans and it's also a brand new beginning."

But, unfortunately, it was then made very clear by producer Michael Gamble that though Mass Effect will continue, this will be the last we see of Commander Shepard, saying "After this, Commander Shepard's story is complete." [...]

Each and every week "Boom Boom!" Henchman21 and "Mr. Tuesday Night" MK2FAC3 read a lot of comics. Seriously you guys, a lot of comics. Maybe too many comics. I mean, it is possible. They look forward to some more than others, I mean, who doesn't? So, let's take a look into the depths of their pull lists, grab some comics, and we'll let YOU know what the top books to look forward to are for the week of August 31, 2011. Single issues and trades, they're all here.

Now, something is happening today in comics. I'm not exactly sure what it is, but... oh yeah! It's the day that the new Locke and Key issue comes out! Oh, you expected us to talk about Justice League or Flashpoint? Get real! This feature is about comics that we are looking forward to the most, and the last time I checked, we're way more interested in indie comics. Also, there's not any Batman comics coming out this week, and I honestly don't know where a lot of those will stand in my favorite comics. The Hench and I aren't holding back this week, so if you'll let me check my watch real quick... Yep. It's clobberin' tiiiiiiiime!!!!!!!!! [...]

David Koepp To Pen ‘The Thin Man’ Remake For ‘Pirates’ Duo Johnny Depp, Rob Marshall

David Koepp has been brought in to pen the script for The Thin Man, a remake of the 1934 classic of the same name that Johnny Depp set up with Warner Brothers last year through his Infinitum Nihil banner.

The original movie was based on a 1934 novel by Dashiell Hammett, also called The Thin Man. It was one of what would become a six–film series, all of which starred William Powell and Myrna Loy as a married couple—he a former private detective and she a socialite—who sit around drinking together in Prohibition-era New York City before deciding to solve a murder.

Depp will star in the role of Nick, which Powell played, and it is currently unknown who will be cast to play his wife, Nora. The movie will be directed by Rob Marshall, who just worked with Depp on Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides. It's said that they hope to take the first two of the aforementioned six–film series and compress them into one film using the same stylized period presentation that Guy Ritchie used in Sherlock Holmes. Attention, everyone!

Today begins the much-talked-about DC Relaunch, the massive reboot of the entire DC Universe, which will see 52 DC Comics titles renumbered back to issue #1.

Our own MK2FAC3 has been doing a fine job keeping us on top of all things DC Relaunch with his continuing coverage of this historical event. "The Fac3" has much more where that came from, so keep a lookout for our DC Relaunch Of Doom features.
