All this week, I'm going to highlight a few that I think are worthy of your attention or are just pages for some of my favorite artists. Today, we look at a collective webpage, Comic Twart. Comic Twart was started in early 2010 and features work by nearly 20 different artists, who generally tackle a theme each week and show their different takes on that week's theme. The artists involved include Mike Hawthorne, Chris Samnee, Mitch Breitweiser, Tom Fowler, and Dave Johnson. The theme is generally a specific character, but it could be a more general concept. Watch This Sneak Peek Of BBC’s ‘Sherlock’ Season 2 Posted: 01 Sep 2011 02:14 PM PDT It was back in January when Sherlock writer Steven Moffat gave some clues as to what to expect in Season 2 of the BBC series. It's two main stars -- Benedict Cumberbatch as Sherlock Holmes and Martin Freeman as Dr. John Watson -- have been busy working on Peter Jackson's Hobbit movie, and while the series was originally scheduled to return in Fall 2011, it now appears that new episodes won't air until some time in 2012. George Lucas Argued Against Film Alteration Yet Continues To Change ‘Star Wars’ Saga Posted: 01 Sep 2011 12:15 PM PDT Many of us won't remember this, but back in the '80s, Ted Turner purchased the rights to libraries of old classic movies with intent to add color to the black and white films and re–release them to the masses. This was considered an outrage by many, including some of the still–living directors of the films, but nothing could be done about it. So a group of spokesmen for Hollywood including George Lucas, Steven Spielberg, James Stewart, Woody Allen, and John Huston took it to Congress in hopes on instilling laws against the alteration of films in order to preserve their heritage. But it was Lucas who took the floor and made the speech that's more relevant today than anyone would have thought it would be. A speech in 1988 that stood strong for the preservation of original films that he himself has broken many times over since that time by changing numerous parts of his classic Star Wars trilogy, including most recently on the Blu–ray release. NBC Picks Up ‘Romancing The Stone’ For TV Adaptation; Shawn Levy Could Direct Posted: 01 Sep 2011 07:17 AM PDT NBC has acquired the rights to adapt the 1984 Robert Zemeckis action–adventure romantic comedy, Romancing the Stone, into a TV series. The deal with NBC comes from 20th Century Fox TV and Shawn Levy (director, Night of the Museum 1 & 2, Real Steel) and Marty Adelstein's (producer, Hanna, Prison Break) 21 Laps Entertainment and Adelstein Productions. Mark Friedman (writer, Home of the Brave, creator/writer/producer, The Forgotten) will write the adaptation, and Levy could step in to direct if no feature film projects (like Night of the Museum 3) become available to him. The movie followed Kathleen Turner as a romance author who sets off to save her kidnapped sister in exchange for a treasure map, but, after almost being killed by someone else who wants the map, she is saved by an American bird exporter (Michael Douglas), and the duo end up on a dangerous quest to find the treasure, save her sister, and elude the many dangerous people out to find them.
