The Doctor Who TARDISblend 37: Night Terrors Posted: 10 Sep 2011 07:37 PM PDT Series Six of Doctor Who continues, and begins with the Doctor receiving a mysterious message via the Psychic Paper asking to be "saved from the monsters." Along with companions Amy Pond (Karen Gillan) and Rory Williams (Arthur Darvill), the trio trace the message to a multi-story set of flats in a council estate area of England, where they find the young boy who sent the plea of his fears across the cosmos: George (Jamie Oram). But as the Doctor begins investigating the strange case of George, Amy, and Rory disappear and find themselves in a mysterious wooden Victorian home being chased by creepy "life-size" wooden dolls with malicious intents. The deeper the trio delve into the confusion, the more they discover the horrible truth: George's monsters are real. But where are they coming from? During TARDISblend 36, we review the events of Night Terrors, a return to form for writer Mark Gatiss. Within the episode itself, we look especially closely at Smith's flawless performance as The Doctor, evoking elements of previous Doctors, in a manner that made it his own, looking upon the galaxy with the old eyes of a Time Lord [...] This posting includes an audio/video/photo media file: Download Now |
The Torchwood TARDISblend 36: The Gathering Posted: 10 Sep 2011 05:10 PM PDT Torchwood: Miracle Day continues and finds our heroes separated across the world, until one chance meeting with Oswald Danes (Bill Pullman) forces the team to reunite and begin to ask the tough question: What is The Blessing? As they dig deeper, their questions will take them to separate poles of the Earth where they discover that the blood of Jack Harkness (John Barrowman) may have more to do with The Blessing and The Miracle than they previously had thought. During TARDISblend 36, we review the events of The Gathering, and find ourselves less than enthused about the episode's inclusion of elements unconnected to the Blessing and the Miracle, such as the Nazi-style Welsh police trackdown of Gwen Cooper's (Eve Myles) father, Geraint (William Thomas). Later, we deconstruct Oswald Danes' arrival in Wales to confront Gwen, another aspect of the episode that felt somewhat out of place. We also discuss the significance of Jack's blood thus far in the series, and speculate with some predictions on where this thread will go for the season finale. Finally we throw in a few Classic Torchwood UK recommendations for new fans to check out, and find out what our listeners recently had to say about the podcasts. All this and more on the latest TARDISblend! [...] This posting includes an audio/video/photo media file: Download Now |

Digital Comics Deal: Batman 101 Sale Posted: 10 Sep 2011 01:00 PM PDT DC Comics and ComiXology are offering a really sweet deal this weekend with 101 of their Batman (or Batman related) comics for just $.99 a piece. The deal only lasts through this weekend -- Saturday, September 10, and Sunday, September 11, 2011. So get your Bat-devices ready, because you're not going to want to miss this. You can download select titles from Batman-related comics and stories for the iPad, iPhone, any Android device, the iPod Touch, and your own personal computer. Some of the titles on sale are Batman Beyond, Batman: Year One, Batman: The Long Halloween, Batman and Robin, and many more. This is a really great deal, and although DC did a Batman 101 sale over the New Year's holiday, this sale is more inclusive with more titles. Also, considering potential new readers from the recent DC Comics relaunch, it's a great place to get a hold of a lot of classic Batman comics that some people may not have read. Me, though? I've read and have copies of all these comics, so I'll be missing out on the sale. However, you should definitely buy all the comics they're offering. Oh, you don't know what comics they're offering? Well, here's a handy little breakdown of all the titles that are on sale [...] |

Keith Richards’ Autobiography ‘Life’ To Be Made Into A Movie Posted: 10 Sep 2011 08:01 AM PDT "Keith Richards is shooting heroin into his eyeballs and still touring all right! I'm getting mixed signals! I picture nuclear war and two things surviving: Keith and cockroaches!" - Bill Hicks Keith Richards, the legendary Rolling Stones guitarist and part-time pirate, is about to become a movie star. Sort of. A film based on Richards' best-selling autobiography Life, published last year, is in the works, according to a recent interview the famed Stone gave to the British website The Telegraph after receiving Writer of the Year honors at the GQ Men of the Year Awards. Richards said in the Telegraph interview, "There are feelers out at the minute [but] I'm in no rush right at the moment. Also, how are they going to find me? The idea of a succession of Keith Richards coming down is horrifying." [...] |
Meet Martin In This ‘Human Centipede 2 (Full Sequence)’ Trailer Posted: 10 Sep 2011 07:00 AM PDT This week, my editor decided to punish me because I had been assigned to review the first Human Centipede DVD, but I never did the review. In the interest of full disclosure, however, I had heard details about the film and have been trying to work up the courage to watch it for approximately a year now. My penance for not completing the review is to cover this, the new image and teaser trailer for The Human Centipede 2 (Full Sequence) (which you can watch here below), and if you know about Human Centipede, then the subtitle of the movie should chill your spine and make your stomach churn. Because it definitely did to me. And rightly so [...] |
