pulp fiction

Pulp Fiction, Quentin Tarantino's brilliant, award-winning 1994 underworld epic that was his follow-up to his directorial debut Reservoir Dogs, is finally being released on Blu-ray courtesy of Lionsgate on October 4, 2011. The studio has released a short trailer to promote the release, which you can watch here below.

The film, which Tarantino originally intended to make at Tri-Star Pictures until that studio put the project into turnaround and was ultimately picked up by Miramax, went on to become one of the most financially successful and critically acclaimed independent films released until that time. It helped to transform the fledgling indie studio Miramax into a major industry player and established its co-writer and director as one of the most influential of his generation [...]

Release date: September 14, 2011

Pherone is a story about a woman named Eve [no relation to our very own Empress] who was trained as a killer to take on various missions and then at the end forget all about it until the word "pherone" is spoken. This is achieved by using a drug that is injected into the operative's neck. Eve always has the same cover of being an escort on her missions. When the target is getting ready for a night of passion, Eve is getting ready to torture and kill the person for information requested by her handler, a man named Simon. Not only we do we see Eve's side of the story, but we see the side of the story from the police detectives who are investigating the deaths of Eve's victims and who come so close to catching her only to have her slip away [...]

‘Source Code’ Coming To The Small Screen?

Posted: 16 Sep 2011 12:59 PM PDT

Ever want to watch the same episode of a TV show over and over again, but as if it were new every single time? Yeah, now you may have your wish.

Joking aside, THR is reporting that CBS has picked up a pitch from Mark Gordon, producer of the Duncan Jones film Source Code, which would see the show be converted into a new running TV series. The show will follow "three former federal agents who are part of a top-secret program. Each week, they'll use "Source Code" technology to jump into the consciousness of people involved in tragic events." [...]

Watch Now: Early Test Footage For ‘The Goon’

The Goon

Eric Powell, creator of beloved comic book series The Goon tweeted a bit of interesting news Tuesday night when he linked new test footage from the film adaptation of his comic book series, which you can watch here below.

The Goon is voiced by fan favorite Clancy Brown and his little pal Franky is being voiced by Paul Giamatti in this rough test. It is important to note that this is not in any way final look at how the film will be. It's simply test footage that gives a look and feel for how the movie will be. It's made like a commercial and is utterly hilarious, so my excitement for the film has raised indefinitely.

The Goon is created by Eric Powell, creator of the Dark Horse series, and the film will be produced by David Fincher, and released through Blur Studios [...]

‘It’s Always Sunny’ Creators Bring Animated Comedy ‘Unsupervised’ To FX

Charlie Day, Glenn Howerton, Rob McElhenney

FX, the network behind hit shows like It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, Rescue Me, and Sons of Anarchy, has picked up a brand new animated comedy series called Unsupervised.

The series comes from It's Always Sunny creators (and stars) Rob McElhenney, Charlie Day, and Glenn Howerton's RCG Productions banner. It's part of a recent three–year, $50 million deal between the company and FX. The show is created and executive produced by Rob Rosell, Scott Marder, and David Hornsby, who have also worked on It's Always Sunny.

Unsupervised follows Gary and Joel, two teenagers who have no parental guidance at all (assumedly along the same lines as Beavis and Butt–Head) who are working their way through all of the problems teenagers face and trying to do the right things (very much unlike Beavis and Butt–Head).

The show has an impressive voice cast already lined up that includes Rosell, Hornsby, Justin Long, Kristen Bell, Fred Armisen, Romany Malco, Kaitlin Olson, and Alexa Vega. [...]

Watch Now: A Shot-By-Shot Deconstruction Of The Chase Sequence From ‘The Dark Knight’

Batman

Jim Emerson, a film critic for Indiewire, has debuted a new regular video feature at their Press Play blog called In the Cut where he deconstructs cinematic action sequences to examine their flaws and virtues. For his debut episode Emerson has chosen to take an in-depth look at a crucial scene from the 2008 Bat-blockbuster The Dark Knight. You can check out the 20-minute video here below.

Emerson narrates the video, which presents the major second-act action sequence from the Christopher Nolan-directed film, but broken down, carefully analyzed, and illustrated with relevant quotes from creative personnel involved with the film and from other experienced sources [...]
