Mackenzie Crook writes children's book Posted: 31 Oct 2011 01:13 PM PDT Mackenzie Crook can add author to his C.V after writing his first children's book. The British star admits he dreamed up the idea for his debut novel, The Windvale Sprites, with his young son Jude in mind. He tells The Independent on Sunday newspaper: "I wrote it as a book that I would have wanted to read when I was a kid, and my son is like a little clone of me; he adored it. "In fact, I finished reading it to him last night. He was so into it. I would've been able to tell if he was just trying to please me." And Crook admits the idea for a children's book has been in his head for a long time: "It occurred to me about 25 years ago. It's all based after the great storm of 1987 - it's been percolating for all that time - and it's only in the past two years that I managed to get it down. It's probably becoming a father that gave me the kick I needed to actually get it done. "While doing this book I came to realise that's what I love doing - it's telling stories, whether writing, drawing, or from acting. I suppose that's what's in my blood - I'm a storyteller - one way or another." Tags: |
