NYCC 2011 Video: Watch ‘The Avengers’ Cast Deliver The ‘Avengers Assemble!’ Battle Cry

Geeks of Doom vs. New York Comic Con 2011

Undeniably, the panel for Marvel's The Avengers was the most highly anticipated event at this year's New York Comic-Con. It was the final panel of the day on Saturday at the Con's IGN Theater, and while it began at around 7pm, the line of people waiting to get in hours before snaked around the entire area, leaving a lot of fans who didn't get in quite disappointed.

Thankfully, a bunch of us here at GoD did get in, so we'll soon be bringing you some video, photos, and lots of information from the panel, including a description of the all-new footage shown. But for now, check out the short video clip we took here below of the cast members on the panel saying, "Avengers Assemble!" [...]

It’s DiCaprio Vs. DiCaprio On Christmas Day 2012 As ‘Great Gatsby’ Gets A Release Date

Posted: 15 Oct 2011 06:00 PM PDT

Christmas 2012 just got a whole lot more interesting.

With Leonardo DiCaprio set to see the release of his Quentin Tarantino-directed slave picture, Django Unchained on Christmas Day next year, Box Office Mojo has revealed that another DiCaprio film has set the day as its debut date. The outlet reports that the actor's turn as Jay Gatsby in Baz Luhrmann's long gestating take on the F. Scott Fitzgerald story, The Great Gatsby will premiere on that date as well. Talk about a hunky way to spend Christmas.

Joking aside, the film co-stars Isla Fisher, Carey Mulligan and Tobey Maguire, and joins films like Life Of Pi and The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey in what should be a December to never forget.

I am an absolutely huge Luhrmann fan, and this cast is beyond reproach. The expectations are huge for this picture, so with a big date set, things appear to be living up to it. [...]

‘The Kids Are All Right’ Gets An HBO TV Series

Posted: 15 Oct 2011 04:20 PM PDT

Well, this came out of nowhere.

According to reports, HBO has signed up to work on a TV series based around the award-winning film, The Kids Are All Right. The show will follow the five characters we met in the original film, and will find its director, Lisa Cholodenko, penning the script for the pilot episode.

Personally, as a huge fan of the original film, I do really think that a series could be quite comfortable within this world. I'm not totally sure that it's a series that I've been clamoring to get, but knowing that Cholodenko will write the script and HBO will be behind the show, do have my hopes up. HBO has been giving us great series after great series, so with a top notch bit of source material, hopefully it can live up to its insane potential, because it's more than there. With the right care, this thing could be really special. [...]

Daniel Radcliffe in The Woman in Black

Oh, how wonderful it is to see that Hammer Films logo on a trailer every now and then.

Thanks to the newly released trailer for the upcoming Daniel Radcliffe film, The Woman In Black we get to see what the company has to offer with regards to their next project.

Telling the story of a man who attempts to sell the house of a client who recently passed away, the film is a much discussed horror picture with a top tier cast and a beloved book to call its source material. The original book was also turned into a play and a TV movie, so it is definitely a bit of source material that has had its day in the sunshine.

Continue reading to watch the trailer below.

That said, with everyone involved, it appears as though this adaptation was given the right sense of style and aesthetic. [...]

Warner Brothers Chooses ‘Cloverfield’ Director Matt Reeves For New ‘Twilight Zone’ Movie

Posted: 15 Oct 2011 01:54 PM PDT

The Twilight Zone

After a search that involved several interested candidates, Warner Brothers has chosen their director for The Twilight Zone, a fresh take on the classic Rod Serling TV series that aired from 1959 to 1964.

WB has picked Matt Reeves to direct the new movie, which will be presented as one big science fiction action story instead of the multi–story anthology format used for 1983's Twilight Zone: The Movie.

Reeves is best known for directing the J.J. Abrams–produced monster movie, Cloverfield, and American Let the Right One In remake, Let Me In. He also wrote, directed, and produced episodes of Felicity.

Reeves will direct the movie from a script written by Jason Rothenberg, and it's hoped that production can begin by next summer. [...]

Marvel’s Next Big Thing Starts With ‘Point One’ Oversized One-Shot

Point One Banner

2011 isn't even over yet and Marvel is already teasing 2012 Summer events. They're laying the ground work early with a new epic one shot called Point One from a bevy of creators to get us all pumped to drop cash on new series and story arcs next year.

The talent behind this epic one-shot is definitely strong with writing by Jeph Loeb, Brian Michael Bendis, Matt Fraction, Ed Brubaker, Fred Van Lente, Chris Yost, and David Lapham and art by Ed McGuiness, Bryan Hitch, Terry Dodson, Salvador Larroca, Ryan Stegma, Javier Pulido, and Roberto De La Torre. Look for Point One on store shelves on November 21, 2011 [...]

Watch Now: Trailer For ‘Devoured’, The Latest Film From The Director Of ‘Lemmy’

Posted: 15 Oct 2011 12:00 PM PDT

Devoured, directed by Greg Oliver

Following up his co-directing gig on last year's acclaimed rock documentary Lemmy, Greg Oliver is in post-production on his first solo feature film, a psychological horror film entitled Devoured. The first trailer for Devoured has been released, which you can check out here below.

The film stars Marta Milans as a single mother struggling to make ends meet by getting a job washing dishes in a restaurant where nothing is what it seems (or so the trailer would have us believe). She starts having unnerving visions, intense encounters, and it all builds to a "brilliant, shocking ending" (in the words of the trailer). It's a pretty basic horror trailer made solely to get early word out about the movie and it will likely come in handy when it's time to sell the movie to the general public. A solid teaser trailer all in all [...]

Check Out These ‘Frankenstein: Agent of S.H.A.D.E.’ Preview Pages

Frankenstein

One of my favorite comics out of the DC Relaunch was easily Frankenstein: Agent of S.H.A.D.E.. The comic is about Frankenstein. Yes, that Frankenstein. Well, technically Frankenstein's monster, but let's not split hairs. He is an undead monster who works for a special ops organization and is set to be the leader of a special group. And that special group is made up of other Universal Studios-style monsters like a werewolf, a vampire, and a creature that looks like she could be from a black lagoon [...]

The artist for Duel will be Rafa Garres. The whole series is co-written and coordinated by IDW Chief Creative Officer and Editor-in-Chief Chris Ryall. The first two issues will feature incentive covers by Tony Harris. The series will launch in February [...]

Fox Releases ‘The Three Stooges’ Teaser Poster & Banner

Posted: 15 Oct 2011 08:00 AM PDT

The Three Stooges

It's not much, but if you were wondering what Peter Farrelly and Bobby Farrelly's The Three Stooges are going to look like, we now have a basic idea in the form of a teaser banner (above), as well as a new teaser poster that doesn't show much of anything.

It's only the top of their heads, but the new Stooges look pretty much what you probably envisioned in your head they would look like when hearing that we had gone from Jim Carrey, Sean Penn, and Benicio Del Toro playing the famed trio to Will Sasso (MADtv, Happy Gilmore), Sean Hayes (Will & Grace, The Bucket List), and Chris Diamantopoulos (24, The Kennedys) [...]

NYCC 2011 Video Interview: Claudio Sanchez & Chondra Echert From Evil Ink Comics

Posted: 15 Oct 2011 07:00 AM PDT

Key of Z #1

Most everyone in the geek world knows that New York Comic-Con is going on this weekend and it just so happens that one of my favorite comic book companies, Evil Ink!, is here to sell merch and sling comics!

Luckily, I got a chance to catch up with Claudio Sanchez (of Coheed and Cambria) and Chondra Echert on their upcoming book Key of Z on the convention floor at Booth 1345 about the new comic, what they're looking forward to seeing at the convention, and what they've got coming up. You can watch my video interview here below. Now, the audio quality on the video is a little off, so before you take to the comments section to tell me that I should have been looking at the camera or using a mic, I totally agree with you. My bad, it will never happen again.

So, to save you the ear strain, I wanted to tell you about some of the high points from the interview, and they are listed here below [...]
