Posted: 27 Oct 2011 08:44 PM PDT Snarked #1 Created by Richard Langridge Written and Illustrated by Richard Langridge Colors by Rachelle Rosenberg, Matthew Wilson Covers by Richard Langridge, Chris Samnee BOOM! Studios Release Date: October 5, 2011 Cover Price: $3.99 All-ages comics are an interesting genre. A creator must be able to tell a story that can appeal to a wide age-range while also keeping it visually and thematically dynamic. More often than not creators try to use broad strokes to tell their all age's story. If you are trying to make something for a broad demographic, why not use universally funny or silly concepts so everyone can appreciate it, right? But the issue is that while trying to capture these collectively "funny" or "childlike" themes writers often lose control of a story just they can throw in another gag. Luckily Roger Langridge's Snarked avoids this pitfall and tells a smart, quirky, and most importantly fun story that anyone can appreciate [...] |
First Images From Tim Burton’s ‘Frankenweenie’ Released Posted: 27 Oct 2011 06:54 PM PDT Tim Burton was working for Disney as an animator in 1984 when he made his live-action directorial debut with a darkly funny short film about a young boy who takes a cue from a horror classic to bring his beloved pet dog Sparky back to life after being hit by a car, and that twisted little gem got him fired as a result when the company deemed it too unusual to bother with a legitimate release. After more than a quarter of a century Frankenweenie is being resurrected by Burton as a 3D, black and white, stop-motion animated feature and Entertainment Weekly has released the first stills from the movie. You can check it out here below [...] |

Posted: 27 Oct 2011 05:06 PM PDT There are some directors in the world that, whenever a new project is announced, one is automatically excited. Almodovar. Scorsese. These are just a few of the names that fit that bill. However, some directors stain any project once their name is attached, making it an uphill battle for that said piece. McG fits that specific description. And now he's found a brand new film. THR is reporting that the horribly-monikered filmmaker will direct Puzzle Palace, based on a script from hot writer, David Guggenheim [...] |
Karl Urban and Ben Barnes Replace Matthew Goode and Alex Pettyfer In ‘Overdrive’ Posted: 27 Oct 2011 04:00 PM PDT People just can't get enough of their car-focused action dramas. THR is reporting that the team of Ben Barnes, Karl Urban, and Emilia Clarke have all joined the cast of the upcoming film, Overdrive, which itself is set to be produced by one Luc Besson. The film was originally set to find Matthew Goode and Alex Pettyfer in the Urban/Barnes roles, but has apparently been shaken up, with the Game Of Thrones star Clarke tossed in for good measure. Story wise, the film will follow the story of two brothers who get into hot water with a crime boss after moving to the south of France [...] |
Watch The Trailer For ‘The Lorax’ Posted: 27 Oct 2011 03:00 PM PDT One of the trickier names to try and adapt for the big screen has been Dr. Seuss. Be it the fallible live-action takes on The Grinch and The Cat In The Hat or the shockingly watchable Horton Hears A Who, the big screen takes on Seuss' works have been hit or miss. And now it's The Lorax's turn. The first trailer for the upcoming Chris Renaud-directed take on the tale has hit, and it is quite stunning. Watch it here below [...] |

‘Man of Steel’ Co-Writer David S. Goyer Conjures ‘Da Vinci’s Demons’ Posted: 27 Oct 2011 01:00 PM PDT David S. Goyer, the prolific screenwriter behind some of the most successful comic book-based movies made in the past fifteen years (including Batman Begins, the Blade movies, and the upcoming Superman film, Man of Steel), is hoping his big-screen success finally translates to the small screen. After nurturing such short-lived television series as Flash Forward, Threshold, Blade (based on the three-film franchise he wrote, the third and final one he also directed), and FreakyLinks, Goyer is returning to the cathode realm with his latest creation, a new series entitled Da Vinci's Demons. The show will be the first to be produced under a new multi-year agreement Starz Entertainment signed with BBC Worldwide Productions over the summer [...] |
First Look At ‘The Three Stooges’ Posted: 27 Oct 2011 12:00 PM PDT While this labor of love for the Farrelly Brothers has taken quite a bit of time and pain to get to the big screen, we finally have our first look at the cast of the upcoming adaptation of The Three Stooges. The film stars Will Sasso, Sean Hayes, and Chris Diamantopoulos as Curly, Larry and Moe, respectively, and I must say, this looks absolutely awful [...] |
Posted: 27 Oct 2011 11:02 AM PDT Just when you thought Mr. Joss Whedon--creator of Firefly and Buffy the Vampire Slayer, among other things--could not surprise you any more than he already has, the man makes Shakespeare...and he does it in complete secrecy WHILE filming the biggest superhero movie of all time, Marvel's The Avengers. After a website promoting a Whedon adaptation of William Shakespeare's play, Much Ado About Nothing, went live, it was confirmed to The Wrap that it was no hoax and that the micro-budgeted indie project had just wrapped principle photography. [...] |
Eddie Murphy Wants A ‘Beverly Hills Cop’ TV Series Focused On Axel Foley’s Son Posted: 27 Oct 2011 10:01 AM PDT With Tower Heist and a gig hosting the Oscars, it appears as though the star of Eddie Murphy is truly back on the rise. And while he may not be starring in this new film, a brand new project based around one of Murphy's most beloved roles has finally moved forward. In an interview with Rolling Stone, Murphy revealed that he's attempting to get off the ground a TV series looking at the life of the son of Axel Foley, the character the icon made famous from his turn in the Beverly Hills Cop films [...] |
Peter Jackson Plans To Direct ‘Tintin’ Sequel Next Posted: 27 Oct 2011 09:00 AM PDT Ever since the project was first conceived, it was always thought that the team of Steven Spielberg and Peter Jackson would take on directing duties for the series of films to be based on The Adventures Of Tintin. And now, with the first film just a ways off, it's Jackson's turn. In an interview with THR, Jackson revealed that following production on his current film, The Hobbit, he will begin work on the next film in the Tintin franchise. The second Tintin installment will be entitled Prisoners Of the Sun, and while it may not even be greenlit yet, it appears to be moving right along [...] |
Author R.A. Salvatore Reveals Why Drizzt Carries Scimitars Posted: 27 Oct 2011 08:01 AM PDT R.A. Salvatore's first published novel, The Crystal Shard, exploded onto the book scene in 1988 and cemented his name as one of today's greatest fantasy authors. His first trilogy, set in the Dungeons & Dragons's Forgotten Realms, was such a huge hit that he was signed to write both prequels and sequels in the years following. Now, after more than twenty years and over twenty New York Times bestsellers, he continues to excite and amaze his readers with his heroic tales in his latest book, Neverwinter: Neverwinter Saga, Book II. His most popular character, Drizzt Do'Urden, has been featured in more than two dozen books with no real ending in sight. A Drow Elf ranger is probably not the first choice most people would have picked to write about, but Salvatore did just that. I recently had the chance to sit down the author to talk about various topics, but one subject we touched upon was Drizzt and his weapon of choice, the scimitar. See here below an excerpt for our interview where Salvatore reveals why Drizzt carries scimitars [...] |
