$5 MP3 Album Deal: David Bowie ‘The Rise And Fall Of Ziggy Stardust And The Spiders From Mars’ Posted: 30 Oct 2011 05:50 AM PDT The best part of Amazon's monthly 100 albums for $5 MP3 album sale is the variety that they offer. There is something for everyone in this month's sale, whether you love modern records or classic albums. For the classic rock fans out there, now is your chance to grab David Bowie's The Rise And Fall Of Ziggy Stardust And The Spiders From Mars for only $5. Bowie's catalog is lengthy and his contribution to popular music is extremely evident on this album. If you're a modern rock fan, chances are your favorite bands count Bowie among their biggest influences, and this record is likely why. From the slow crescendo of "Five Years" to rock stompers like "Suffragette City," The Rise And Fall Of Ziggy Stardust And The Spiders From Mars is a classic from end to end [...] |

$5 MP3 Album Deal: ‘Thirteenth Step’ By A Perfect Circle Posted: 29 Oct 2011 01:00 PM PDT A lot of memories that I have from my college days can be tied to certain records, and this is one of them. So, it thrilled me when I saw that Amazon has put A Perfect Circle's Thirteenth Step up as one of their $5 MP3 album deals for this month. This is one of my favorite albums of all time. When I'm feeling a little low, or if I want to just chill out for a while, I go to this one [...] |
Watch Now: ‘Big Trouble in Little China’ Starring a Very Confused Kurt Russell Posted: 29 Oct 2011 12:00 PM PDT There's no doubt that John Carpenter's 1986 kung fu-action-comedy-horror-fantasy Big Trouble in Little China is a universally-beloved, genre-bending cult classic, or at least it should be (and boy do I love using dashes in my sentences). But doesn't that plot seem more than slightly weird and overly complicated to you? It must have seemed that way to star Kurt Russell because his character, swaggering blowhard trucker Jack Burton, spends most of the movie in a state of confusion. One plausible explanation for Burton's constant befuddlement could be that Russell never even saw a script, as the video you can watch here below makes a strong case for [...] |
Watch Now: The ‘Muppets’ Parody Trailer To End Them All Posted: 29 Oct 2011 11:00 AM PDT The latest (and final) parody trailer for The Muppets has been released and you can watch it here below. Much like a snake swallowing its own tail, this entire arm of the marketing campaign for the big screen comeback of Jim Henson's classic creations has finally come full circle. In the rush to cram in quick spoofs of Paranormal Activity 3, Puss in Boots, Happy Feet 2, and the next Twilight movie ("Breaking Prawn"....get it?), the trailer department also decided to throw in a parody of the first Muppets parody trailer, the soon-to-be-legendary "Green with Envy" teaser, because.... why the hell not? Halloweekend of Doom: 13 Comic Books To Haunt Your Halloween Posted: 29 Oct 2011 10:00 AM PDT It's that time of year again, boys and girls! The temperature has dropped, the leaves have turned from green to varying shades of orange and red; children dress in the guise of their favorite characters, and the flickering of candles show the yellow grins of the jack-o-lanterns adorning the porches of your neighborhood. It's Halloween, folks, and while there's plenty of people out there that like cute, plastic pumpkins on their doors, we here at Geeks of Doom like our Halloweens a little more horrifying. So, it's with this, Halloweekend, that I will be bringing to you a series of horror-themed features that showcase the wicked side of geek entertainment. In the first installment of what I like to call Halloweekend of Doom, I'm going to explore 13 comic books that should get you in the mood for the greatest time of year. The list is in no particular order, and this isn't intended to be the be all end all of horror comics, but these comics are great to read during Halloween. I'll cover some that can be considered family friendly, but the majority of these are strictly dark and for mature audiences [...] |
