DVD Review: Neverwhere – 15th Anniversary Edition Posted: 25 Nov 2011 02:59 PM PST Neil Gaiman's Neverwhere: 15th Anniversary Edition DVD Directed by Dewi Humphreys Written by Neil Gaiman Created by Neil Gaiman and Lenny Henry Starring Gary Bakewell, Laura Fraser, Paterson Joseph, Hywel Bennett, Clive Russell, Trevor Peacock, Peter Capaldi, Tasmin Greig BBC Release Date: November 15, 2011 This year, the BBC celebrates the 15th anniversary of fan-favorite Neil Gaiman's first endeavor into the world of television series. Comic Review: Pilot Season: Anonymous #1 Posted: 25 Nov 2011 01:11 PM PST Pilot Season: Anonymous #1 Created by Matt Hawkins, Alan McElroy Written by Alan McElroy Art by Michael Montenant Colors by Phil Smith Letters by Troy Peteri Cover by Eric Jones Top Cow Productions Release Date: November 9th, 2011 Cover Price: $3.99 Pilot Season: Anonymous #1 is a very interesting read that could have been a great one, if not for a few things. The thing that I don't care for in the current Top Cow studios is that there's really no Top Cow "style" anymore. It used to be, when you picked up a Top Cow book, you knew EXACTLY what you were getting. A certain art style, a familiar method of story telling, it felt like a cohesive universe. Unfortunately, that luxury is gone now [...] |
Digital Comics Deal: Blackest Friday 99 Cent Sale Posted: 25 Nov 2011 12:00 PM PST DC Comics and ComiXology are apparently starting a Black Friday tradition with Blackest Friday. Blackest Friday is the publishing company's 99 cent sale that features the comic books from the 2009-2010 crossover event comic. All of the tie-ins and crossovers from R.E.B.E.L.S. to the special mini-series comics like Blackest Night: Titans are included in this mega-sale. In fact, this sale moves beyond the hit series into the bi-weekly follow up comic Brightest Day, however the Brightest Day tie-ins are not included [...] |
Funko Adds A Second Dimension To Their Vinyl Toy Line Posted: 25 Nov 2011 10:57 AM PST Funko released images and preorder information for the upcoming Blox line of unique vinyl toys. I'm a big fun of all of Funko's line of vinyl figures including the bobble heads and more specifically the rounded, larger Pop! Vinyl figures that add a certain level of "adorable" that Funko has seemed to perfect on pop culture icons such as The Joker and Batman [...] |
Comic Review: Pilot Season: Seraph #1 Posted: 25 Nov 2011 09:40 AM PST Pilot Season: Seraph #1 Created by Lance Briggs Written by Phil Hester, Lance Briggs Pencils by Jose Luis Inks by Sandro Ribeiro Colors by David Ocampo, Bill Farmer Letters by Troy Peteri Cover by Jose Luis, Sandro Riberiro, and David Ocampo Top Cow Productions Release Date: November 16th, 2011 Cover Price: $3.99 In the interest of fairness, I should warn you all ahead of time that I am a life long, die-hard Green Bay Packers fan. With that being said, I can guarantee you that that will have NO bearing on my review and opinions of Seraph #1. I've read and reviewed three of the Top Cow Pilot Season titles today and I can honestly say, that this is the one that I liked the most. It's by far the most original, with a very interesting concept created by Chicago Bears linebacker Lance Briggs and fleshed out by writer Phil Hester. It's a great blend of super heroics/the supernatural and, unfortunately, reality for some unfortunate people [...] |
