Video: Christmas Lights Synchronized To ‘Skyrim’ Theme Posted: 21 Dec 2011 08:00 PM PST We've all seen them before: videos of people who synchronized their Christmas lights and decorations to blink to the beat of their favorite songs. The most popular music to do this with is of course Trans-Siberian Orchestra, but some have stepped a little bit outside the holiday box to other types of music. Which brings us to my new favorite Christmas lights presentation, set to the main theme of Bethesda Softworks' The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. You can check out the video by heading below. [...] |
‘Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter’ Posters Debut Posted: 21 Dec 2011 07:00 PM PST The first two posters for next year's historical horror-adventure Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter have debuted and you can check them out here below. Based on the novel by Pride & Prejudice & Zombies author Seth Grahame-Smith (who also co-wrote the screenplay with Simon Kinberg) first published last year, the Tim Burton-produced film takes a revisionist look at the legacy of the famous 16th U.S. President (Benjamin Walker) as he grows up to embark on a mission to kill as many bloodsucking creatures of the night as he can after he discovers that his mother was killed by one. Comic Review: Lady Mechanika #3 Posted: 21 Dec 2011 06:00 PM PST Lady Mechanika #3 Created by Joe Benitez Art by Joe Benitez Colors by Peter Steigerwald Aspen Comics Release Date: December 21, 2011 Cover Price: $2.99 The third issue of a new comic is always difficult to accurately review. It's often too soon to reveal any major plot twists, yet late enough to not be gaining momentum. This is the place that Joe Benitez's Lady Mechanika finds itself. Lady Mechanika #3 is a building block in an overall larger picture. This issue introduces new villains and interesting developments, but offers little in surprising content. This is not to say issue #3 is not impressive, because it is. Lady Mechanika #3 is the initial stages of something that could become a very compelling storyline [...] |
Comic Review: Star Wars: Episode I Adventures Posted: 21 Dec 2011 05:00 PM PST Star Wars: Episode I Adventures Written by Henry Gilroy, Mark Schultz, Timothy Truman, and Ryder Windham Art by Chris Chuckry, Steve Crespo, Martin Egeland, George Freeman, Harold Mackinnon, P. Craig Russell, Galen Showman, Howard M. Shum, Lisa Stamp, Robert Teranishi Cover Art by Hugh Fleming Dark Horse Comics Release Date: December 21, 2011 Cover Price: $7.99 With the Star Wars 3D Movie logo on the cover of Dark Horse's Star Wars: Episode I Adventures, it is clear that the comic company (along with many other licensees) is now gearing up for the 3D Re-release of The Phantom Menace scheduled to be released on February 10, 2012. Despite the negative outlook on the prequels by vocal movie fans, I am sure there are some, almost 13 years after its first release, nostalgic enough and looking forward to the 3D screenings -- and prequel fans will undoubtedly be excited too. However, this collection of Episode I-related narratives isn't quite for everyone, although there are some positive elements to the book [...] |
Bat Analysis: Dissecting ‘The Dark Knight Rises’ Trailer Posted: 21 Dec 2011 04:00 PM PST In the past, I've combed over any and every Batman-related thing that's come across my path to try and figure out what the secrets are that lie behind what we see at face value. It's a little something that I like to call a "Bat-Analysis" and most of those items have had something to do with The Dark Knight Rises. So, it's without question that I would approach the new trailer for The Dark Knight Rises with the same mentality. I read a lot of Batman comics and have immersed myself within the content regarding the character, so how could I not? The only problem is, it's nearly impossible to do that with this trailer. But nonetheless, I present to you my Bat Analysis of The Dark Knight Rises trailer [...] |
Comic Review: G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero #173 Posted: 21 Dec 2011 03:00 PM PST G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero #173 Written by Larry Hama Art by Ron Wagner, Wil Rosado, S L Gallant Inks by Brian Shearer Colors by Priscilla Tramontano Letters by Shawn Lee Covers by Herb Trimpe, John Haynes, and Larry Hama IDW Publishing Release Date: December 21, 2011 Cover Price: $3.99 This book is amazing! Every month when I read G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero it makes me feel like I'm reading a back issue of Marvel's G.I. Joe that I hadn't read before except without the occasional appearance of a Spider-Man parade balloon or a guy dressed up in a Hulk costume. Author Larry Hama tells three seperate stories going on in G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero #173. One, I found REALLY interesting, the next entertaining, and the third, honestly, I didn't care for very much. And unfortunately, the third story gets the most pages. But, the other two stories make up for it in spades [...] |
HBO Cancels ‘Hung,’ ‘Bored To Death,’ ‘How To Make It In America’; Renews ‘Enlightened’ Posted: 21 Dec 2011 02:00 PM PST If you're a fan of the HBO comedies Hung, Bored to Death, or How To Make It In America, then you're about to have a very bad day as HBO has decided to cancel all three of them. If you're a fan of the new show Enlightened, on the other hand, you can rejoice as a second season has been ordered. It's unclear exactly why it was decided to cancel the three shows---Hung was the highest rated of all four of them and star Thomas Jane just scored another Golden Globe nomination, while Enlightened was struggling a bit in the ratings department but did land itself two Globe nominations, which likely helped a great deal. [...] |
Posted: 21 Dec 2011 01:30 PM PST Ghostbusters #4 Written by Erik Burnham Art by Dan Schoening Colors by Luis Antonio Delgado PCOC Pages by Tristan Jones Letters by Neil Uyetake Covers by Dan Schoening, Nick Runge, and Erik Burnham IDW Publishing Release Date: December 21st, 2011 Cover Price: $3.99 I swear to God, it's like we get a new, awesome Ghostbusters movie every month! And Ghostbusters #4 is no exception. This month the boys in gray are up against the third minion of Gozer, and there's only one person that can save the day! I'm calling Erik Burnham out right now! I don't understand how he can turn out such a high caliber book every month and not be writing more comics. I'm guessing that Burnham puked in the punch bowl at a Marvel/DC Christmas party at some point, thereby banishing his awesomeness from either of those companies. But, back to this issue [...] |
Bill Murray Bails For Good On ‘Ghostbusters 3′? Posted: 21 Dec 2011 01:00 PM PST Looking forward to a possible Ghostbusters 3? Well, that's more than can be said for one Bill Murray. According to The National Enquirer, Murray has finally tossed down the gauntlet when it comes to this film, and apparently sent his co-stars Dan Aykroyd and Harold Ramis a shredded copy of the film's script, with a note that read "No one wants to pay money to see fat, old men chasing ghosts!" [...] |
Comic Review: Green Hornet #20 Posted: 21 Dec 2011 12:00 PM PST Green Hornet #20 Written by Ande Parks Art by Igor Vitorino Colors by Ivan Nunes Letters by Marshall Dillon Covers by Phil Hester, Jonathahn Lau, and Brian Denham Dynamite Entertainment Release Date: December 21, 2011 Cover Price: $3.99 If I had to pick one word to describe The Green Hornet #20, it would be-charming. It's not too often a comic actually makes you feel better after you've read it, but this one does just that. Writer Ande Parks serves up two stories in one issue here. A tale of the original Green Hornet & Kato and one of the modern day Green Hornet & Kato. Both fighting the same villain, but in very different ways [...] |
‘Star Trek 2′ Getting Converted To 3D; Won’t Include Original Series Cast Members Posted: 21 Dec 2011 11:00 AM PST Another day, another bunch of news and/or rumors breaking surrounding the world of Star Trek and the impending sequel to the last J.J. Abrams-directed hit. First up, Showbiz 411 is reporting that the upcoming sequel will not be including any cast members from the original television series, unlike its predecessor, which starred Leonard Nimoy in a rather pivotal role. Sorry, no Shatner this time either folks [...] |
Comic Review: Transformers: The Death of Optimus Prime One-Shot Posted: 21 Dec 2011 10:30 AM PST Transformers: Death of Optimus Prime One-Shot Story by James Roberts, John Barbar Art by Nick Roche Colors by John Burcham Letters by Shawn Lee Covers by Vicktor Deak, Nick Roche, and Livio Ramondelli IDW Publishing Release Date: December 21, 2011 Cover Price: $3.99 Even though this book is titled Transformers: The Death of Optimus Prime, it should really almost be called Transformers #0. Why? It's a launching point for IDW Publishing's brand new direction of the Transformers franchise, and do they go out/start out with a bang! Writers James Roberts and John Barbar do a fantastic job of both closing up the previous Transformers storyline AND starting off a brand new direction for everyone's favorite robots in disguise [...] |

The GoD List: Comics For December 21, 2011 Posted: 21 Dec 2011 09:00 AM PST Each and every week "The American Dragon" MK2Fac3 and "Long Island Iced C" Henchman21 read a lot of comics. Seriously you guys, a lot of comics. Maybe too many comics. I mean, it is possible… theoretically. They look forward to some more than others, I mean, who doesn't? So, let's take a look into the depths of their pull lists, grab some comics, and we'll let YOU know what the top books to look forward to are for the week of December 21, 2011. Single issues and trades, they're all here. It's been a while since I've been this excited about comics, because we've got a lot of comics coming out this week that have the potential of being some of the finest of the year. We've got the return of Batman Incorporated with two of the best artists working in the business, we get the crazy brought to us by Neal Adams in his Batman Odyssey mini-series, as well as many other titles like Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Scott Snyder's Batman, Mark Waid's Daredevil, Brian Azzarello and Cliff Chiang's Wonder Woman, Jason Aaron's Puninshermax, and many other excellent comics. In fact, some of the finest DC Relaunch titles are coming out this week. But there's no way we could fit all of this awesome into one small list, so what we've done is condensed it, much like milk, and unloaded what we consider to be the comics that will blow us out of the water the hardest. Whether they be the most "important" comics, or if they're just created by our favorites, one thing can be for certain, they're what we're looking forward to the most. For we are The HenchFac3, and this is The GoD List [...] |
