‘Sherlock’ & ‘The Hobbit’ Star Benedict Cumberbatch Cast As Villain In ‘Star Trek 2′ Posted: 04 Jan 2012 07:39 PM PST At one point it was Benicio Del Toro who was set to play the villain in J.J. Abrams' highly anticipated Star Trek sequel, currently being called Star Trek 2. Edgar Ramirez was said to be a top choice to replace Del Toro after his departure, but now it's being reported that another actor has been chosen for the role. According to sources, Benedict Cumberbatch, the rising start known for his work on the fantastic BBC series Sherlock and Steven Spielberg's War Horse, will now play the villain of Star Trek 2, though details of the character are still being kept under wraps. Taylor Swift and Amanda Seyfried Offered Roles In ‘Les Miserables’ Posted: 04 Jan 2012 03:52 PM PST Coming hot off his Oscar win last year for The King's Speech, director Tom Hooper could pretty much do anything he wanted, even cast Taylor Swift in his next film. Twitch is reporting that Swift and Amanda Seyfried have been offered the roles of Eponine and Cossette, respectively, in Hooper's upcoming big-screen adaptation of Les Miserables. |
Arnold Schwarzenegger Goes Angelic In ‘Black Sunday’ Posted: 04 Jan 2012 02:06 PM PST Arnold Schwarzenegger playing an angel in a new film? Talk about a stretch. All joking aside, TheArnoldFans recently spoke to the actor, who revealed that he is "a kind of angel" in his new film, the newly titled Black Sunday. The film, originally described as something between Man On Fire and High Plains Drifter, is drawing comparisons to movies like Commando and Constantine now, making this even more ridiculous [...] |
The GoD List: Comics For January 4, 2012 Posted: 04 Jan 2012 12:03 PM PST Each and (almost) every week "Mr. Fifth Di-WTF is he talking about-mension" MK2Fac3 and "Mr. I'm Too Pretty For Formatting" Henchman21 read a lot of comics. Seriously you guys, a lot of comics. Maybe too many comics. I mean, it is possible… theoretically. They look forward to some more than others, I mean, who doesn't? So, let's take a look into the depths of their pull lists, grab some comics, and we'll let YOU know what the top books to look forward to are for the week of January 4, 2012. Single issues and trades, they're all here. Happy New Year, lads and lasses! In just a short amount of days, I'll be sailing the seven seas, but let's catch up for a moment. How did you spend your New Year's Eve and Day? Did you eat your good luck charms? Did you spend the holidays drunk and hungover? That's neat. I spent mine laying in bed with an illness that can only be described as velociraptor-esque. But I can tell you one thing, I cracked the code of the fifth dimension. It's simple, you see. Because the fifth dimension is what determines our very existence. It's all based on words. Words define our lives because without language and words, we would not be able to communicate. Well, maybe we could through art? Who knows, I was running a fever and hallucinating. Either way, though, comics consist of both art and words, so it's the perfect medium! You know what I'm saying? GoD List. Baller cakes [...] |
Will ‘World War Z’ Get The Trilogy Treatment? Posted: 04 Jan 2012 11:02 AM PST Nothing gets Hollywood hot under the collar more than a potential franchise in the making. And now, Paramount may have just found their next cash cow. The LA Times is reporting that Paramount and director Marc Forster are looking at the upcoming film World War Z as a possible trilogy. They go on to compare the film to a mix of the "Jason Bourne series tethered to the unsettling end-times vibe of AMC's The Walking Dead." Talk about some high hopes [...] |
Is Bradley Cooper Lex Luthor In ‘Man Of Steel’? Posted: 04 Jan 2012 10:02 AM PST Consider this very much a rumor, but an intriguing one. Cosmic Book News is reporting that WB has cast Bradley Cooper in the role of Lex Luthor for their upcoming Superman film, The Man Of Steel. Now, this would only be a cameo appearance for the actor and character, but it would ultimately hint at something to come for this franchise, one would imagine [...] |
Posted: 04 Jan 2012 09:06 AM PST Witchblade #151 Story by Tim Seeley Art by Diego Bernard Covers by John Tyler Christopher, Dennis Calero Top Cow Release Date: January 4, 2011 Cover Price: $2.99 It's been awhile since I've read the title, but with Witchblade #151 being the start of a brand new creative team, I thought I'd check it out and give it a try. I was very pleasantly surprised. It seems that writer Tim Seeley has breathed new life into this book. It's no longer the hot girl with mystical weapon fighting monsters book, now it's the hot girl private eye with mystical weapon fighting monsters and solving cases book. And it makes a big difference. It's nice to have the heroine be proactive instead of reactive for a change. As a covert "first issue" this book did exactly what it should have done -- got me interested in the story and characters and hooked me enough for me to want to buy the next issue [...] |
‘Crysis 2′ Is Most Pirated Game Of 2011; ‘Fast Five’ Tops Movies Posted: 04 Jan 2012 08:01 AM PST TorrentFreak has released a rundown of the most pirated video games and movies of 2011. Topping the list of games is the PC version of German developer Crytek's hit sequel Crysis 2 with 3.92 million downloads, which is something of a surprise considering how many huge titles were released last year. It was followed by a much more expected name in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, which was downloaded 3.65 million times for the PC. Battlefield 3, FIFA 12, and Portal 2 rounded out the PC list. Superman Gets New Origin In ‘Action Comics #5′ But Does He Need One? Posted: 04 Jan 2012 07:00 AM PST In Action Comics #5, Grant Morrison and Andy Kubert, care of DC Comics, will re-explore the origin story for Earth's first and mightiest superhero, Superman. As it's been done countless times, DC Comics has ordered up a brand new origin story for The Man of Steel, but this time, his story is the capable hands of my all-time favorite comic book writer Grant Morrison. Previously, Morrison had addressed the origin of Kal-El of Krypton brilliantly in one single page, the first page of his and Frank Quitely's amazing mini-series All-Star Superman. So if there were any doubts as to whether Morrison could handle the origin, he can. But the question that begs to be asked from this is: Do we really need yet another origin story for The Man of Tomorrow so soon? [...] |
