Hot Damn! It's Steve Austin on his first all-out undercover adventure with his brand new bionics. While fun, it's not at all what I was expecting from The Bionic Man #5.

OK, let's get one thing straight, and for me to do this I HAVE to go into spoiler territory: While the story is a LOT of fun, there was something about it that bothered me. Writers Kevin Smith and Phil Hester have brilliantly updated the bionic man and his powers significantly from the 1970s, but there's one of his new powers I'm not that fond of [...]

Mark Pavia Working On Stephen King Anthology Film

Posted: 05 Jan 2012 05:50 PM PST

Stephen King

Be it a horror story like The Shining or a pure drama like Stand By Me, writer Stephen King, while not being this person's favorite author, does have one of the more expansive libraries around. And now writer/director Mark Pavia will attempt to prove that.

The filmmaker recently spoke with Icons Of Fright, and revealed that he's set to start production on an anthology film based on four short stories penned by King, with the author choosing two, and then Pavia choosing two. Sounds intriguing enough. [...]

Warner Brothers Shuts Down Production On Live-Action ‘Akira’ Movie

Posted: 05 Jan 2012 04:29 PM PST

Akira

Warner Brothers has been attempting to bring a live-action adaption of Akira to the big screen for a long while now, with many budgetary complications and cast and crew issues leading to delay after delay...much to the elation of fans who don't want to see it happen.

Lately, however, things appeared to be moving forward, and doing so at a quick pace. Beginning this past October, the movie was officially greenlighted after some budget problems were ironed out and a star was found in Tron: Legacy's Garrett Hedlund. [...]

Watch Now: John Carpenter’s ‘The Thing’ Featuring The Cast of ‘Pingu’

Pingu

There are few movies I love in the world more than John Carpenter's 1982 remake of The Thing. Actually there are two -- Evil Dead 2 and Blade Runner -- but that's not the point. I love The Thing more than the original Alien most days. It's just a perfect amalgam of vintage and modern horror-tinged sci-fi with an oppressively effective setting, terrific ensemble acting, innovative practical creature effects that remain horrifying to this day, and an infinitely more quotable script than Alien (Aliens, not so much) [...]

‘Piranha 3DD’ Still Heading To Theaters

Posted: 05 Jan 2012 12:01 PM PST

Piranha 3DD Sure, the first film may have been shockingly entertaining in its gruesome and somewhat inventive use of piranha-based violence, but expectations for the sequel, Piranha 3DD, aren't all that high. However, that doesn't mean you'll be seeing it skip out on theaters. Early this week, rumors arose via Digital Spy that the film's distributors, Entertainment Film Distributors, planned to release the film directly to DVD and Blu-ray on March 19. However, director John Gulager has spoken to STYD and revealed that the film is still set to hit theaters come this spring [...]

The Jetsons - Greetings From Orbit City

No one rants like Kanye West rants.

Over Wednesday night, the beloved and controversial rapper took to Twitter to discuss a cavalcade of things ranging from our broken education systems, to what he saw during his and Jay-Z's recent "Watch The Throne" Tour. And apparently, he revealed something kind of crazy.

The artist revealed that he has been approached to be the creative director for the much talked about and impending Jetsons film [...]

The last time we had a brush with death was in 2010's The Final Destination. As it turned out, that installment in the horror movie franchise was by far the worst of them all with horrible acting, nonsensical situations, soap opera-level acting, and just an all-around unlikable final product. And that's coming from someone who very much enjoyed the previous installments in the series for what they are: gruesomely fun guilty pleasures. [...]
