Book Review: The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn Posted: 24 Jan 2012 08:40 PM PST The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn Written by Mark Twain Illustrations by Eric Powell Hardback IDW Publishing Release Date: January 24, 2012 The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn as adapted by Eric Powell is more than just a newly illustrated accompaniment to Mark Twain's classic novel. Recently, new editions of The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn have been released replacing the controversial language of the 19th century original. However, publisher IDW and artist Eric Powell made the conscious decision to release this adaptation as it was initially published. This illustrated version represents an independent publisher rejecting the idea of censoring an American classic. The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn illustrated by Eric Powell is a wonderful way to revisit this piece of classic American literature [...] |

Digital Comics Deal: IDW’s ‘Infestation’ Half Off Sale Posted: 24 Jan 2012 03:00 PM PST Comixology and IDW Publishing announced today that they will be offering a half off, 99-cent sale for IDW's recent crossover event Infestation. Now, you know how crossover events work, right? A comic book publishing company schedules a mini-series that "changes the face of the comic book company forever!" You know about those right? All the big companies do them. And you also may know that IDW has a lot of licensed properties and there's not a lot of marriage between those comic book titles, as well. Right? Well, you'd be right on all those accounts. So, if it's hard to wrap your brain around, I totally understand. It's hard for me, too. But in 2011, it actually happened! That is correct, sir or madame, IDW tied together their universe with a zombie outbreak story that infected and affected the pages and characters of Star Trek, Transformers, G.I. Joe, and Ghostbusters. That's both insane and awesome, isn't it? I mean, I don't know how it works, but I'd love to see a zombie Transformer [...] |

DC Entertainment Announces Humanitarian Effort With ‘We Can Be Heroes’ Posted: 24 Jan 2012 09:00 AM PST In true Bruce Wayne fashion, DC Entertainment, alongside all of Warner Bros. Entertainment, have announced the extension of their philanthropic arm to aid the Horn of Africa with the We Can Be Heroes initiative. DC is actually doing something that's really important with this. Those of us in the public see companies announce several goodwill initiatives all the time, but very rarely do they offer anything out of their profits or funding -- instead, they simply use their names to bring attention to problems across the globe.
