Video: Matthew Broderick Becomes Ferris Bueller Again For Super Bowl Commercial Posted: 26 Jan 2012 06:12 PM PST A very short preview of what appears to be Matthew Broderick jumping back into his most famous character, the title role in 1986's Ferris Bueller's Day Off, for an upcoming Super Bowl commercial has found its way online. What the commercial is for or what Bueller might be up to is not yet know, but he appears to be in a rather lovely hotel. Has he gone on to make millions as most would have expected him to do, or is he just up to his old tricks, using his charm to get what he wants? Will his best friends be making cameos? Who knows! Monty Python To Reunite For ‘Absolutely Anything’ Posted: 26 Jan 2012 05:00 PM PST Before you get too excited, no, Monty Python is not officially reuniting for some more Flying Circus action. It does appear, however, that the remaining members of the legendary comedy troupe will once again be combining their talents for an upcoming movie titled Absolutely Anything, which is set to be directed by Pythoner Terry Jones. The movie will be a sci-fi comedy that combines live action and CGI. It tells the story of a group of aliens who choose a human to give the incredible power to do, well...quite literally absolutely anything just to see how badly they mess things up with their new abilities. DVD Review: ‘Godzilla’ [The Criterion Collection] Posted: 26 Jan 2012 04:00 PM PST Godzilla DVD | Blu-ray Directed by Ishiro Honda Starring Takashi Shimura The Criterion Collection Release date: January 24, 2012 Yes. Throughout their history, The Criterion Collection has been the bastion of the purest of pure arthouse and intellectual cinema. Be it their presence on home video, giving the world class A copies of classics like The Seven Samurai or the greatest film ever made, a.k.a. Godard's Breathless or their theatrical releases by backers Janus Film, who helped singlehandedly created the arthouse format. However, never let it be said that even they don't like themselves a few genre films [...] |
Gary Oldman Earns His First Oscar Nomination For ‘Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy’ Posted: 26 Jan 2012 02:28 PM PST When the Academy Award nominations were announced on Tuesday morning many expected debates were sparked about who was left out and who shouldn't have been nominated in the first place, but for one of the nominees in the Best Actor category, the announcement was a long time in the making. Gary Oldman has been acting for more than three decades, and in that time he has aged gracefully from an intense and hungry young actor to a classy and dignified performer who can bring great amounts of gravitas to every character he plays. [...] |

Rumor Madness: Xbox 720 To Be PowerPC CPU With Blu-ray, Kinect; Block Used Games? Posted: 26 Jan 2012 11:00 AM PST Allow me to start off with a statement: in no way am I personally ready for the next generation gaming consoles to be released in the next year or two. And surely many others share this opinion as well. It feels like we're just getting to the point where game developers can really optimize the current systems' abilities, and to start all over again with a new system---especially considering how often we've seen hardware failures and other such problems---does not need to be rushed at all. All of that said, we've been hearing many whispers about the next-gen consoles and when they might be released for a while now. [...] |
Watch Now: ‘Star Wars Uncut: The Director’s Cut’ Gives Fans A Chance To Remake ‘Episode IV’ Posted: 26 Jan 2012 09:00 AM PST Back in 2009 Casey Pugh put out a call to Star Wars fans and budding filmmakers everywhere to help create one of the most ambitious and beloved displays of appreciation for George Lucas' standard-setting space opera saga ever seen. Internet users everywhere were asked to remake Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope 15 seconds at a time. Two years after the project began Star Wars Uncut: The Director's Cut has been completed and is now available to watch online, or at least until Darth Lucas and his cadre of high-priced lawyers file a cease-and-desist order due to the film's extensive use of Star Wars footage and audio. Watch Now: The Best Parts of the ‘Underworld’ Trilogy In Three Minutes Posted: 26 Jan 2012 08:01 AM PST With the recent release of the fourth installment, Awakening, the Underworld movies have proved to be one of those franchises that refuses to die as long as the last movie makes enough money to barely justify a sequel -- the same criteria that has also kept the Resident Evil movies going long past their expiration date. The clever people over at io9 have assembled the better parts of the first three films in the series - Underworld (2003), Underworld: Evolution (2006), and the prequel Underworld: Rise of the Lycans - into a three minute video.
