Activision and Hasbro Team For ‘Battleship’ Video Game; Teaser Trailer Released Posted: 08 Feb 2012 06:00 PM PST Think a movie based on the board game Battleship is silly enough? Well, get ready to play the video game based on the movie based on the board game. Confused yet? It's being reported that Activision and Hasbro are teaming up for a game version of their upcoming tentpole project, also titled Battleship, which will follow "elite demolitions specialist Cole Mathis as he clashes against an aquatic-based extraterrestrial peril in the sand and sea of the beautiful Hawaiian archipelago. Trapped in a veritable communications dead zone, Mathis must command the U.S. Navy fleet in a 'siege on the sea,' while simultaneously rallying the troops on land for a terrifying 'war on the shore.'" Summit’s ‘Alex Cross’ Hitting In October Posted: 08 Feb 2012 05:00 PM PST A fan of Tyler Perry, but don't like to watch him direct a film? Then 2012 will apparently be your year. Or at least this October will be a far more interesting month for you. According to ComingSoon, Summit has announced that their upcoming film, Alex Cross, will hit theaters on October 26. The film stars Perry, Matthew Fox, Rachel Nichols, and Ed Burns, and follows the story of a "homicide detective/psychologist (Perry) as he meets his match in a serial killer (Fox). The two face off in a high-stakes game of cat and mouse, but when the mission gets personal, Cross is pushed to the edge of his moral and psychological limits in this taut and exciting action thriller." Check Out The New ‘The Bourne Legacy’ Poster and Teaser Trailer Posted: 08 Feb 2012 04:01 PM PST Universal Pictures has released a new poster and teaser trailer for their upcoming super-spy sequel The Bourne Legacy. You can check them both out here below. The gritty, globe-trotting action franchise inspired by the novels of the late Robert Ludlum seemed to have wrapped up with 2007's The Bourne Ultimatum, which was star Matt Damon and director Paul Greengrass' farewell to the series that made them both household names in Hollywood. But never underestimate a studio's willingness to exploit a viable cash cow for every penny its worth [...] |
Comic Review: Archie Archives, Vol. 4 Posted: 08 Feb 2012 03:00 PM PST Archie Archives, Vol. 4 Art by Bill Vigoda and Various Dark Horse Comics Release Date: January 25, 2012 Cover Price: $49.99 Archie Archives, Vol. 4 is a strangely fascinating page from the history book of the typical teenager from Riverdale. Reprinting issues of Archie and Pep Comics, from 1944 and 1945, this is the books' very early years, long before Kevin Keller and KISS. But things are far from bland: the art is almost exclusively from Bill Vigoda, the real life brother of Abe Vigoda, best known as Sal Tessio from The Godfather films. Like I said, it's a little strange. In this volume we see the ingredients that make up an average Archie comic still swirling around, not yet fully settled. On the surface everything is still the same, the stories hit all the same beats: Archie goes on a date or gets a new job or starts a new hobby... and then things go wrong with hilarious results [...] |
Denzel Washington Joins ’2 Guns’ With Mark Wahlberg Posted: 08 Feb 2012 02:00 PM PST With Safe House set to bow this weekend, star Denzel Washington is already looking towards his next projects. Deadline reports that he's in talks to join Universal's 2 Guns, alongside Mark Wahlberg and director Baltasar Kormakur. Kormakur is probably best known for the odd little thriller Contraband, which hit earlier this year, and he'll take on this film penned by Blake Masters, which follows "a DEA agent and an undercover naval intelligence officer unwittingly investigate each other as each steals mob money." The picture is based off of a Boom Studios graphic novel. [...] |
Comic Review: Conan the Barbarian #1 Posted: 08 Feb 2012 01:00 PM PST Conan the Barbarian #1 Script by Brian Wood Art by Becky Cloonan Colors by Dave Stewart Letters by Richard Starkings and Comicraft Covers by Massimo Carnevale and Becky Cloonan Dark Horse Comics Release Date: February 8, 2012 Cover Price: $3.50 I've been looking forward to Conan the Barbarian #1 ever since it was announced. Why? Because with the announcement of the book's creative team, it promised something different for a Conan comic, and happily, it delivers. Big time. Fans have been begging for Dark Horse to adapt the classic Robert E. Howard Conan story Queen of the Black Coast for quite a while now, and that has to be tricky for writer Brian Wood. Thankfully, he more than delivers on this fan's expectations [...] |
Russell Crowe Confirms Involvement With Biblical Epic ‘Noah’ Posted: 08 Feb 2012 12:00 PM PST In this day and age, one shouldn't be all that shocked when news happens to break over Twitter. After it was revealed that the pair of Liam Neeson and Russell Crowe were looking at joining the upcoming Darren Aronofsky epic, Noah, the latter decided to take to the social networking juggernaut to confirm these rumors. Apparently both are being courted for roles in the film, which is beyond exciting. The film has been in the works for a long time now, and is easily one of the most interesting projects around. The fourth issue of Empire Lost finds Kir Kanos determined to stop the planned attack of Devian, warlord of a splinter element of the Imperial Remnant fixed on bringing both the New Republic and Grand Admiral Pellaeon's Empire into his own demented grasp. Watch Now: Osama Bin Laden Returns As A Zombie In ‘Osombie’ Trailer Posted: 08 Feb 2012 10:00 AM PST Not a whole lot of words need to be said here, as the video speaks for itself. The movie is titled Osombie, naturally, and you can see the trailer by heading on below now. [...] |

Watch The ‘G.I. Joe: Retaliation’ International Trailer Posted: 08 Feb 2012 08:01 AM PST A few years ago I, like many, wouldn't have thought a second G.I. Joe movie to be a likelihood. While G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra was a spazztastic joy-bomb of a movie that bled pure, unadulterated fun from its pores, it wasn't quite the moneymaker that Hasbro's other big screen franchise brand, Transformers, had become. But after three years it looks like we're getting a sequel to The Rise of Cobra, and not only does G.I. Joe: Retaliation look a lot better than its predecessor but it appears that director Jon M. Chu (Step Up 3D) and writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick (Zombieland), along with a mighty cast, have made a real-as-rhubarb G.I. Joe movie. [...] |
Release Date For Hugh Jackman’s ‘Wolverine 2′ Set Posted: 08 Feb 2012 07:00 AM PST Twentieth Century Fox has set an official release date for their long-in-development sequel to X-Men Origins: Wolverine, which was once titled The Wolverine but is now simply being called Wolverine 2 until a more official title is selected. The studio has reserved July 23, 2013 for the return of Hugh Jackman as the beloved Marvel anti-hero, which will see him heading overseas to Japan for the Samurai storyline this time around. [...] |
