‘Game Of Thrones’ Star Nikolaj Coster-Waldau Joins ‘Oblivion’ Posted: 15 Feb 2012 04:00 PM PST Apparently the world does really love themselves some Game of Thrones. Deadline reports that another one of the stars from the hit HBO show, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, has joined the cast of the upcoming Tom Cruise-starring and Joseph Kosinski-directed sci-fi thriller, Oblivion. The film is being set up at Universal, and will follow the story of a man who discovers a woman in a crashed pod who must come to terms with this post-apocalyptic world, where humans are forced to live above the clouds, due to Earth being simply impossible to live on. Jonathan Liebesman Possibly Directing the ‘Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles’ Reboot Posted: 15 Feb 2012 03:00 PM PST It's been almost two years since we reported that Michael Bay would be partnering with Paramount Pictures and Nickelodeon to produce a new live-action Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie through his Platinum Dunes production company and that Iron Man scribes Art Marcum and Matt Holloway would be writing the screenplay with an eye towards turning the movie into a franchise. Now comes the news that Jonathan Liebesman, the director of last year's Battle: Los Angeles and the upcoming Wrath of the Titans, is in talks to direct the reboot [...] |
Comic Review: Flash Gordon: Zeitgeist #3 Posted: 15 Feb 2012 03:00 PM PST Flash Gordon: Zeitgeist #3 Plot & Script by Eric Trautmann Plot & Art Direction by Alex Ross Art by Daniel Indro & Ron Adrian Colors by Slamet Mujiono Letters by Simon Bowland Covesr by Alex Ross, Paul Renaud, and Francesco Francavilla Dynamite Entertainment Release Date: February 15, 2012 Cover Price: $3.99 Reading Flash Gordon: Zeitgeist #3, I'm reminded why I love the character so much. It's the ultimate fish out of water story, except the fish knows how to fight and has a sword and ray gun. Since both Eric Trautmann amd Alex Ross are credited with the story, I guess I have to praise them both for coming up with, really, what this book is supposed to be. Remember movies like Raiders of the Lost Ark or Back to the Future 2, when there was a cliffhanger almost every two minutes? Imagine that kind of story, in comic form, and that's what you have here. Absolutely edge of your seat reading. New characters are introduced, there's danger everywhere. THIS is why the phrase "page-turner" was coined [...] |
‘The Avengers’ Fan-Made Trailer Assembles Into Something Awesome Posted: 15 Feb 2012 02:00 PM PST In less than three months Marvel's The Avengers will hit the big screen and mark the culmination of a decade's worth of developing and producing films based on the vaunted Marvel Comics super-team's individual members, joining them together for one massive big-screen spectacle under the direction of geek god Joss Whedon. The advertising campaign so far, needless to say, has been successful in building up anticipation for what could be the biggest movie of the summer, with the release of a teaser trailer a few months ago and most recently a well-received Super Bowl TV spot that gave fans a better glimpse at the characters in action and the otherworldly adversary they'd be facing. A new fan-made trailer has been put together by the Ontario-based production house Synn Studios Inc. and edited by Nick Montgomery with music by Glitch Mob. [...] |

Check Out Some Exclusive Images From Toy Fair 2012! Posted: 15 Feb 2012 12:00 PM PST The International Toy Fair currently going on in New York City isn't a convention, even though it may look sort of like one from a distance. Toy Fair is all about sellers trying to woo buyers at the most basic of definitions. There are indie creators in booths huckstering their creations right along side big boys like Hasbro and Mattel. Buyers also range in size from mom and pop hobby shops to Target and Walmart. Geeks of Doom is on the scene at the Toy Fair, so take a look here below at our first photo gallery of some of what was on display [...] |
Comic Review: Infestation: Dungeons & Dragons #1 Posted: 15 Feb 2012 11:00 AM PST Infestation: Dungeons & Dragons #1 Written by Paul Crilley Art by Valerio Schiti Colors by Scarletgothica Letters by Chris Mowry Covers by menton3, Livio Ramondelli, Valerio Schiti, Scarletgothica IDW Publishing Release Date: February 15, 2012 Cover Price: $3.99 My knowledge of Dungeons & Dragons comes exclusively from the 1980's Saturday morning cartoon. I knew going in that Infestation: Dungeons & Dragons #1 wouldn't be starring any of those characters, but I was curious anyway. What I found was about as different as you could get. Writer Paul Crilley introduces the world of Dungeons & Dragons in a single paragraph printed inside the front cover, which pretty much set the tone for the rest of the book [...] |

Dan Aykroyd Talks Replacing Bill Murray and More About ‘Ghostbusters 3′ Posted: 15 Feb 2012 08:01 AM PST And now it's time to hear the truth, straight from the horse's mouth. Empire recently chatted with writer and iconic comedic thespian Dan Aykroyd, who revealed a few interesting details about the much talked about Ghostbusters 3. First, while he seemed upbeat about possibly seeing Rick Moranis return for this film, he said that we may not see Bill Murray back in the saddle as Venkman, but instead find his character re-written, to be played by a different actor. Think this franchise's Bond. [...] |
“Ultimate Dog Tease” Getting A Feature Film Adaptation Posted: 15 Feb 2012 07:00 AM PST Okay ladies and gentlemen, I was wrong. I was wrong about the fact that I had previously stated that with the rise of remakes and board game adaptations, Hollywood was all but creatively bankrupt. Nope, it's this, that's finally proven they have absolutely no creativity left. Variety is reporting that the low-budget label over at Paramount, Insurge, is hard at work on a film revolving around that "Ultimate Dog Tease" YouTube video, that spread like wild fire last year. With 94 million views, this has become one of YouTube's most watched videos, and its creator Andrew Grantham, is cashing the hell in. [...] |
