Posted: 20 Feb 2012 06:03 PM PST Memorial #3 Written by Chris Roberson Art by Rich Ellis Colors by Grace Allison Letters by Shawn Lee Cover by Michael WM Kaluta IDW Publishing Release Date: February 8, 2012 Cover Price: $3.99 About four years ago my comic book store guy insisted I try a new IDW title called Locke and Key. While I enjoyed the art immensely, the story wasn't doing much for me at that time. Today, it's one of my favorite titles but I avoided it for years. Looking back, I can't recall if it was because the subject matter was too dark or the characters seemed too dull, but I clung to some justification for a long time to avoid the book everyone was telling me was going great. I realize now that what actually happened was I didn't allow the book the opportunity to build its own world [...] |
‘I Am Legend 2′ Moves Forward With Will Smith, New Writer Posted: 20 Feb 2012 05:00 PM PST After I Am Legend pulled in $585 million worldwide back in 2007, it was pretty obvious that a sequel was all but guaranteed. It's been a little longer than expected, but now it appears that I Am Legend 2 is picking up speed. It's being reported that Arash Amel has been hired to write a script for the sequel, and that Will Smith and Akiva Goldsman are attached as producers. [...] |

Katie Cassidy Cast As Female Lead In CW’s ‘Arrow’ Posted: 20 Feb 2012 03:00 PM PST Katie Cassidy has been announced as the lead female role in CW's Green Arrow pilot, Arrow, as none other than Dinah Lance. Perfect.... In case you can't tell, I'm elated with this news. Cassidy has been named as Dinah Lance. To those unaware, Dinah Lance is also known to those of comic book fans as Black Canary, the main love interest and super heroine bad-ass with super sonic voice. Now, will Black Canary actually show up in the show? I certainly hope so, but it's just as likely that they will keep her as one of the city's attorneys. Either way, I think Cassidy is a fantastic choice [...] |
Blu-ray Review: War Of The Arrows Posted: 20 Feb 2012 02:00 PM PST War of the Arrows Blu-ray l DVD DIRECTOR: Kim Han-Min WRITER: Kim Han-Min STARRING: Park Hae-il, Moon Chae-won, Ryoo Seung-Ryong, Kim Mu-Yeol, Kim Ku-Taek, Lee Han-wi, Park Gi-woong Lotte Entertainment RELEASE DATE: February 21, 2012 It's hard not to love Asian cinema. It delivers a style and an intensity not often in found in other films. Sometimes this can feel a little over the top, but, for the most part, the result is a lot of really great movies. Sadly many people (myself included, for a time) don't get to enjoy a whole lot of these movies because they're not in plain sight. [...] |
‘The New West’ Makes Its Way To Hollywood Posted: 20 Feb 2012 01:00 PM PST Benderspink will be teaming with Wizard Magazine founder Gareb Shamus to option Jimmy Palmiotti and Phil Noto's futuristic western The New West. Palmiotti and Noto's 2-issue story, that was published under Wizard's Black Bull Entertainment, took place during the not to distant future after an electromagnetic pulse was set off in Los Angeles, forcing a man to fight his way to save a kidnapped government official while only being armed with a horse and a sword. Which, if you ask me, is total unadulterated awesomeness [...] |
Posted: 20 Feb 2012 12:00 PM PST TRON Legacy Netflix Streaming DVD | Blu-Ray Directed by Joseph Kosinski Starring Jeff Bridges, Garrett Hedlund, Olivia Wilde, Beau Garrett, Michael Sheen, James Frain, Bruce Boxleitner, Daft Punk, Cillian Murphy Walt Disney Pictures Originally Released: December 17, 2010 TRON Legacy is a film that, for many of us, was a generation in waiting. Many of us who were children of the Eighties were floored with the richness and uniqueness of the original TRON film, sadly now quite dated (visually, though the story still stands up), as it was a statement of the budding tech generation we were becoming a part of. For decades, we waited for the potential of a sequel, and some of us lost all hope. [...] |
Comic Review: The Sixth Gun #18 Posted: 20 Feb 2012 11:00 AM PST The Sixth Gun #18 Written by Cullenn Bunn Illustrated by Brian Hurtt Colors by Bill Crabtree Letters by Douglas E. ‘Mortal Kombat In Real Life’ Pits An Ordinary Youth Against Outworld’s Worst Posted: 20 Feb 2012 10:00 AM PST Tom Teller, a self-described "high school student with a passion for film," creates videos based around video games and visual effects applied to real-life situations through his production shingle Intellergence. For his latest creation Teller ponders a question that must have been on all our minds at some point in time: what if while we're out walking we're suddenly thrown into the thick of battle with the supernaturally-powered fighters from the mega-popular Mortal Kombat video game franchise? You can watch the "Mortal Kombat in Real Life" video here below. [...] |
Comic Review: Dragons vs. Dinosaurs Posted: 20 Feb 2012 09:00 AM PST Dragons vs. Dinosaurs Written by Chris Eric Peterson Art by Chris Eric Peterson Arcana Studios Release Date: December 1, 2011 Cover Price: $14.95 Immediately after finishing Dragons vs. Dinosaurs, I said to myself 'what in the world did I just read?' This book was completely insane in the best kind of way. When I pick up a comic called Dragons vs. Dinosaurs that is all I want to see, a dragon killing a dinosaur and vice versa. Luckily artist and writer Chris Eric Peterson knows his audience and what they like. Dragons vs. Dinosaurs reads like a Godzilla title with colossal battles and very little dialogue. If you are looking to kill a few minutes reading about pre-historic beasts slugging it out, then this just might be the book for you [...] |
Paul and Chris Weitz Still Want To Make ‘The Elric Chronicles’ Into A Movie Posted: 20 Feb 2012 08:00 AM PST Michael Moorcock's Elric saga, which began in 1961 with the novella "The Dreaming City," is one of the last prolific sword-and-sorcery book series to have not yet been adapted for the silver screen. But there have been a few attempts over the years, most notably back in 2007 when filmmaking brothers Paul Weitz and Chris Weitz (American Pie, About a Boy) optioned the rights to the Elric series with an eye towards making a trilogy of films based on the property for Universal Pictures, which we first reported on here. The project was eventually put on the back burner as the Weitz brothers pursued other endeavors, Paul directing the comedies American Dreamz and Little Fockers, and Chris the fantasy novel adaptations The Golden Compass (the first of Phillip Pullman's His Dark Materials series) and The Twilight Saga: New Moon. [...] |

As you can see, this third and final game in the trilogy (as the character you play, Shepard, anyway) promises to be gigantic in scale and in action. We've known they were coming, and now the Reapers are here...and they do not look like they can be stopped. You can check out the new cinematic trailer for Mass Effect 3 below now. [...] |
