Exclusive ‘Skullkickers’ Poster At Image Comics Expo Posted: 21 Feb 2012 08:19 PM PST Image Comics keeps adding to the awesome announcements for the upcoming Image Comics Expo, and this time it's for an exclusive map of the world of Skullkickers. Skullkickers is easily one of my favorite comics. It's a good comedy/action book, but there's an aspect of this comic that can't be denied, and that's fantasy. It fits alongside card games, RPGs, and heavy metal, so a perfect addition to the greatness of the book would be a map of the world explored within the pages. And if you're going to the Image Comics Expo, you'll be getting your hands on one because this poster map will be available exclusively (for now?) during the convention [...] |
Check Out The Trailer For The Stephen Dorff Indie Thriller ‘Brake’ Posted: 21 Feb 2012 06:27 PM PST As a huge fan of single setting films, and an even bigger fan of those with a thriller bend (like say, Buried), one of the more interesting little films coming out relatively soon is the indie thriller Brake. The film stars Stephen Dorff, and finds our lead trapped inside of a car trunk, kidnapped by a group of terrorists looking to take out the President. Directed by Gabe Torres, Brake looks to be quite intense, and while it's smaller, the film appears to be rather intriguing particularly when one looks at that great cast [...] |
NBC’s ‘Community’ Set To Return In March! Posted: 21 Feb 2012 05:00 PM PST After several months on hiatus, NBC's Community will be coming back to its Thursday night time slot next month. Back in November, the comedy was unceremoniously yanked from the network's mid-season line-up with no word if it would even return, leaving fans in a panic. In January, NBC finally broke their silence when they announced that the show would be back... eventually. Today, showrunner Dan Harmon sent a joyful message out from his Twitter account confirming that Community would be back on Thursday nights at 8 starting March 15, 2012 [...] |
Michael Fassbender Takes the Lead in Ridley Scott’s Next Film ‘The Counselor’ Posted: 21 Feb 2012 04:10 PM PST Less than two weeks ago we reported that the prolific Ridley Scott had already lined up his first post-Prometheus directing gig, and it wasn't that Blade Runner sequel he's been talking about lately. Scott signed on to direct The Counselor, which is the first original screenplay written by acclaimed author Cormac McCarthy (No Country for Old Men). Now, the filmmaker has found his leading man, and it is another cinematic talent who likes to keep busy. Michael Fassbender, soon to be seen as the android David in Prometheus, has taken the lead role of a respectable attorney who decides to dabble in the drug trade and ends up way over his head, as would be expected [...] |
WB Wants Writer Marc Guggenheim For Robert Downey Jr. ‘Perry Mason’ Adaptation Posted: 21 Feb 2012 03:00 PM PST Now, while the name Perry Mason may not conjure up the strongest images for my young generation, the upcoming film adaptation just got a whole lot more interesting. THR reports that WB is currently chatting with one of the hottest writers in Hollywood, Marc Guggenheim, to write the film, which is set to star Robert Downey Jr [..] |
Book Review: A Hard Day’s Knight: A Novel Of The Nightside Posted: 21 Feb 2012 02:00 PM PST A Hard Day's Knight A Novel Of The Nightside by Simon R. Green Hardcover | paperback | Kindle Ace Books Paperback Release Date: December 27, 2012 Welcome to the Nightside, the darkest part of London, where it is always three o'clock in the morning. A Hard Day's Knight is the eleventh book in the Nightside series from Simon R. Green and it is one of his best. Magical swords, threat of another interplanary war, and lots of folks trying to kill our hero, John Taylor. But let's be honest, someone is ALWAYS trying to kill John. We step into this story right after the last book and for poor old John, the hits just keep on coming! Someone sent him a package and inside is nothing less than Excalibur! No Lady of the Lake for this guy, just the regular old mail. As soon as he touches it, however, all of Nightside seems to know that he has it and of course they want to take it from him [...] |

Digital Comic Review: Dragon Age #1 Posted: 21 Feb 2012 11:00 AM PST Dragon Age #1 Story by David Gaider Script by Alexander Freed Art by Chad Hardin Dark Horse Release Date: February 22, 2012 Cover Price: 99¢ Dragon Age #1 is the first in a line of six, 12-page comics being released through the Dark Horse digital exclusive comic program. With a 99-cent price tag and digital distribution, purchasing this issue comes down to whether or not the fantasy genre interests you. I personally play and enjoy Bioware's Dragon Age games, so I came into this comic with a sense of the world and history behind the franchise. People unfamiliar with Dragon Age shouldn't be discouraged though, Dragon Age #1 is still a great start to what could be a good digital fantasy epic. [...] |
