Video: Jimmy Fallon’s Parody Of Pearl Jam’s ‘Jeremy’ Is An Ode To Linsanity Posted: 24 Feb 2012 03:00 PM PST On last night's Late Night With Jimmy Fallon, the late-night talk show host performed "Jeremy (Lin)," a parody of Pearl Jam's "Jeremy" with reworked lyrics centering on the current "Linsanity" surrounding NY Knicks point guard Jeremy Lin. Jimmy Fallon put aside his usual suit and tie to don a wig and grunge attire to do his best impression of Pearl Jam's frontman Eddie Veddar, while singing of Lin's recent achievements as well as his early days before his name was a pun. Watch the video here below [...] |
‘John Carter’ Fan Trailer Sells The Movie Better Than The Official Trailers Posted: 24 Feb 2012 02:00 PM PST Hot on the heels of last week's fan trailer for Marvel's summer superhero spectacle The Avengers comes another unofficial preview for another mega-budget major studio endeavor that sells the movie better than the highest-paid trailer editors in Hollywood can do with unlimited resources. An industrious admirer of the forthcoming John Carter has taken all the previous released trailers and clips and created a trailer that does an infinitely better job selling the film than the official previews have. Comic Books Including First Appearaces Of Superman and Batman Score $3.4 Million Posted: 24 Feb 2012 01:00 PM PST Every once in a while one of the ultra-rare copies of the Holy Grail of comic books, Action Comics No. 1, surfaces somewhere and scores massive amounts of money when auctioned off. Nic Cage had one in almost perfect condition that was returned to him 11 years after being stolen last year, which went on to bring in $2.1 million. But what happens when you blow over 50 years of dust off of that old box in the attic and not only is there a copy of Action Comics No. 1, which introduced some dude named Superman to the world, but a whole collection of old comics that also includes Detective Comics No. 27, the comic that introduced another dude named Batman? Coins rain from the skies, ladies and gentlemen. [...] |
Spock, Uhura & Sherlock Holmes Throw Down In First ‘Star Trek 2′ Set Photos Posted: 24 Feb 2012 12:00 PM PST The plot line for the currently-in-production Star Trek 2 may still be a matter of national security, but until director J.J. Abrams gives Paramount the go-ahead to release an official plot synopsis, MTV got its hands on some photos from the set rife with interpretive possibilities. You can check out the images here below. Since we don't know anything about the story for the much-anticipated sequel we can barely surmise what exactly is happening in these pics, but the set images clearly depict an intense battle going on between Spock (Zachary Quinto), Uhura (Zoe Saldana - looking positively badass with a phaser I might add), and the film's villain, played by British actor Benedict Cumberbatch (BBC's Sherlock, Tinker, Tailor, Solider, Spy) [...] |

With Tears In My Eyes: Saying Goodbye To Author Ardath Mayhar Posted: 24 Feb 2012 09:00 AM PST It was almost three decades ago when I first walked into the dusty little book shop. The View From Orbit Bookstore was really just a tiny little hole in the wall but it had a certain charm to it. A feeling of love and warmth that children today most likely will never experience. Ardath Mayhar and her husband Joe had opened the small store in a small town not only to try to make a little money to supplement her writing but also to express their love of literature. [...] |
‘Sin City’ Director Robert Rodriguez To Launch Latino-Targeted Cable Channel Posted: 24 Feb 2012 08:00 AM PST Robert Rodriguez is a one-man filmmaking force: he writes, directs, edits, composes the music, and creates the visual effects for his many movies. The guy even has his own movie studio so he never has to leave Austin, Texas. All Rodriguez is lacking now is his own cable channel and chain of movie theaters that serve cold Mexican beer and barbecue at the concession stand. Thanks to Comcast he now has the former. Rodriguez recently announced the launch of El Rey, a new network that is, in the director's own words, "designed to be an action-packed, general entertainment network in English for Latino and general audiences that includes a mix of reality, scripted and animated series, movies, documentaries, news, music, comedy, and sports programming." Later, we look at how Google bypassed privacy settings in Apple's Safari and Microsoft's Internet Explorer to track users web browsing. But first, the headlines...Facebook launches verified accounts and pseudonyms, Apple delivers new version of OS X to developers, Foxconn hid underage workers before Fair Labor inspections, Google to sell heads-up glasses by year's end, and Flickr gets a major makeover [...] This posting includes an audio/video/photo media file: Download Now |
