Ridley Scott On ‘Prometheus’ Connection With ‘Alien’; Reveals Guy Pearce’s Role Posted: 27 Feb 2012 02:00 PM PST The nature of the connection between Ridley Scott's Prometheus and the original Alien film series has been the most hotly debated topic regarding the forthcoming sci-fi prequel. The domestic and international teaser trailers have featured designs and concepts seemingly derived from H.R. Giger's groundbreaking creations from Scott's 1979 face-screwing, chest-bursting space shocker, including glimpses of the derelict spacecraft that set the plot of Alien in motion. But Scott and company have been pretty tight-lipped so far about whether or not Prometheus shares more than just a little DNA with its xenomorphic cinematic brethren. In an interview with the Hungarian news website Mozinezo, Scott spoke out in regards to the character being played by Guy Pearce (L.A. Confidential, The Proposition) and gave us a little insight into just how much Prometheus figures into the origins of the Alien series [...] |

Marvel’s ‘Avengers Vs X-Men War Journals’ Webisodes Coming To MTV Geek Posted: 27 Feb 2012 12:01 PM PST Marvel Comics has been promoting their next summer event, Avengers Vs. X-Men, as one of the biggest stories they've ever told. Well, honestly I took that with a grain of salt, because that's what they say about every new comic book event they release. I took Avengers Vs. X-Men to be a fun tights and fights story with elements of almost fan fiction in play because fans always debate which heroes could take each other out. Now, Marvel has announced a pretty cool partnership with MTV Geek to further get the word out about this summer story arc. So, maybe this is gonna be a big deal? We'll just have to wait and see on that one [...] |
Rumor For Your Thoughts: Benedict Cumberbatch To Be The Master In ‘Doctor Who’? Posted: 27 Feb 2012 11:00 AM PST It seems that as soon as filming hits the ground for Doctor Who that the gossip floodgates open for the series. I've heard some doozies in my time, but this one (if real) would actually be quite interesting. Express.co.uk and Radio Times are reporting of rumors that Benedict Cumberbatch from Sherlock (and the forthcoming Star Trek 2 and The Hobbit) could have landed the role as The Master for the 50th anniversary of Doctor Who. Because Cumberbatch is celebrated for his Holmes role in "that other" Steven Moffat series, his name has popped up in the past as potentially appearing on Doctor Who [...] |

Oscar Watch: Sacha Baron Cohen’s ‘Dictator’ Dumps Kim Jong Il’s Ashes On Ryan Seacrest Posted: 27 Feb 2012 08:31 AM PST When Borat star Sacha Baron Cohen shows up somewhere in character, it's guaranteed that he'll pull a stunt. And that's exactly what the actor did when he walked the Red Carpet at last night's 84th Annual Academy Awards and then "spilled" the supposed ashes of Kim Jong Il onto interviewer Ryan Seacrest. You can watch the entire escapade in the video here below. Cohen arrived to the Oscars dressed as Admiral General Aladeen, his character from the upcoming film The Dictator, carrying an urn he said was filled with the ashes of late North Korean dictator Kim Jong Il and flanked by his two female personal security officers. He made his way down the Red Carpet to Ryan Seacrest, who was covering the Red Carpet arrives for E! [...] |
