And The Title Of The New ‘Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles’ Reboot Will Be… Posted: 27 Mar 2012 07:26 PM PDT We've been hearing a lot about Paramount Pictures' upcoming reboot of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, but most of it has been a tad unsettling...to say the least. Recently Michael Bay, who is a producer on the project through his Platinum Dunes, revealed that instead of being mutated turtles as their longtime title so effectively points out, they would have some sort of alien origins. This of course sent fans into an enraged frenzy, and led Bay to tell everyone to chill out. Now Bay is at it again, revealing an official title for the movie. And just as you might have expected, it supports recent controversies. [...] |

Comic Review: Flash Gordon: Zeitgeist #4 Posted: 27 Mar 2012 05:00 PM PDT Flash Gordon Zeitgeist #4 Plot & Script by Eric Trautmann Plot & Art Direction by Alex Ross Art by Daniel Indro Colors by Slamet Mujiono Letters by Simon Bowland Covers by Alex Ross, Paul Renaud, and Francesco Francavilla Dynamite Entertainment Release Date: March 28, 2012 Cover Price: $3.99 Flash Gordon Zeitgeist #4 is why action/Sci-Fi comics were invented. Yes, I'm a total sucker for Flash Gordon, but that actually makes it HARDER to impress me when it comes to the property. I've seen SO many Flash Gordon reincarnations that have fallen so flat, and reading this book is a welcome return to one of my favorite super heroes ever. Writer Eric Trautmann lays it on pretty thick in this issue. Talk about jam-packed!!! This is truly an old fashioned cliffhanger serial in comic book form. With a cliffhanger on almost every page, it's a thrill a minute read that will have you biting your fingernails as you read it. What I love about this book is that every character is off on their own adventure, yet the story still weaves together [...] |
Chloe Moretz Lands The Title Role In The ‘Carrie’ Remake Posted: 27 Mar 2012 04:00 PM PDT In the past two years alone she's played an ass-kicking superhero and a blood-sucking vampire. Now it looks like Chloe Moretz has a date to a prom and a burning high school in her screen future. The young actress, best known for playing Hit Girl in the violent action-comedy Kick-Ass as well as the haunting horror film Let Me In and most recently Martin Scorsese's Oscar-winning 3D fantasy Hugo, has just been confirmed for the title role in the new film version of Carrie. Based on Stephen King's first novel published in 1974, Carrie was adapted for the screen in 1976 by filmmaker Brian DePalma with Sissy Spacek in the title role of a shy high school student who uses her emerging telekinetic powers to take revenge on her tormentors. Both Spacek and Piper Laurie, who played Carrie's religious fanatic mother, earned Academy Award nominations for their performances [...] |
Comic Review: King Conan: The Phoenix & The Sword #3 Posted: 27 Mar 2012 03:00 PM PDT King Conan: The Phoenix & The Sword #3 Script by Timothy Truman Art by Tomas Giorello Colors by Jose Villarrubia Letters by Richard Starkings and Comicraft Cover by Andrew Robinson Dark Horse Comics Release Date: March 28, 2012 Cover Price: $3.50 After years of reading Conan comics, I suddenly realized that you either love Conan or you don't love Conan. Right now Dark Horse is publishing Conan the Barbarian by Brian Wood and Becky Cloonan. That book is for people who don't love Conan. But, King Conan: The Phoenix & The Sword is for people like me, who love Conan. King Conan: The Phoenix & The Sword #3, simply put, is a really FUN issue. First off, I don't know if it's intentional or not, but writer Timothy Truman includes a lot of nods to the early '90s Conan the Adventurer cartoon series, from names of places to a little nod to a certain cartoon sidekick Phoenix. The beautiful part is that it fits totally into the story, which, on its own merits, is very cool [...] |

Watch This Teaser Video For The ‘Total Recall’ Trailer Posted: 27 Mar 2012 01:00 PM PDT More teasers for the teasers! Although, this time it's more than a mere 7 seconds. Sony has released a teaser video for the upcoming teaser trailer for their Total Recall remake, which will hit the web this Sunday. Watch the 32-second teaser video here below. Last summer at the Total Recall panel at San Diego Comic-Con and then later that year at New York Comic-Con, Sony showed off some footage for the reboot starring Colin Farrell, Kate Beckinsale, Bryan Cranston, Jessica Biel, and John Cho. At those times, the scenes presented weren't final and much of the special effects hadn't been put in yet, but what I saw I really enjoyed [...] |
Comic Review: G.I. Joe: Retaliation #3: Official Movie Prequel Posted: 27 Mar 2012 12:00 PM PDT G.I. Joe: Retaliation #3 Official Movie Prequel Written by John Barber Art by Salvador Navarro and Atilio Rojo Colors by Esther Sanz Letters by Shawn Lee Cover by Salvador Navarro IDW Publishing Release Date: March 28th, 2012 Cover Price: $3.99 Joe fans, you're in for a treat! G.I. Joe Retaliation #3 is chock full of a story you'd never expect to read. And, it begs a LOT of questions about G.I. Joe Retaliation. I can honestly say, that reading this comic is getting me more excited for the movie. Writer John Barber throws a wrench into the plan here. Normally movie prequels are stories like the 5 minutes leading up to the first scene or just some generic stories about the characters that appear in the film. But this book is a lot different. It's actually really interesting to read and, as I stated earlier, is getting me more excited for G.I. Joe: Retaliation [...] |

George Orwell’s ’1984′ Being Adapted For The Screen Once Again Posted: 27 Mar 2012 10:00 AM PDT By one of the most important and influential works of literature, George Orwell's seminal 1949 novel 1984 has been adapted for the stage and screen many times before. It's legacy lives on in film, music, books, and comics. Now the book is getting the celluloid treatment once more. Brian Grazer and Ron Howard's production company Imagine Entertainment is teaming with LBI Entertainment to mount a new film adaptation of 1984, and Shepard Fairley, the street artist responsible for the iconic "Hope" poster for Barack Obama's 2008 presidential campaign who brought the 1984 project to the attention of Imagine and LBI, might be taking an important role in the production once all is said and done. Both production companies had been seeking the rights from Orwell's estate and decided to team up on the project [...] |
