James Cameron Says You’ll Have To Pry ‘Battle Angel’ From His Cold Dead Hands Posted: 18 Apr 2012 06:00 PM PDT As much as we would all like to see a Battle Angel movie being directed by James Cameron, we all knew that the adaptation would have to take a back seat since the director announced that he would be working on the Avatar sequels. And while those sequels have yet to shoot, Cameron is giving us his word that Battle Angel is coming, just not as soon as you like to think. In an interview with MTV, Cameron did drop a few hints about the Avatar sequels saying it would bring an awareness to the relationship that man and nature share. He also claims that the story of the Avatar sequels are much more important to tell than the story of Battle Angel. I'm sure Battle Angel fans beg to differ [...] |
Posted: 18 Apr 2012 05:00 PM PDT The Shadow #1 Written by Garth Ennis Art by Aaron Campbell Colors by Carlos Lopez Letters by Rob Steen Covers by Alex Ross, Howard Chaykin, John Cassidy & Jae Lee Dynamite Entertainment Release Date: April 18, 2012 Cover Price: $3.99 When reading The Shadow #1 you're going to have a lot of different opinions. It's not a comic book you read once, bag and board, then file in a short box never to be read again. No, you're definitely going to want to leave this one out. Artist Aaron Campbell is great, but maybe not here. And I don't mean that his art isn't great in this book, I mean that his art isn't great FOR this book. The Shadow is a character of mystery. GREAT mystery (and that's putting it mildly). But, anyone who's followed Campbell knows that he's a very detailed artist. And while that's great on the pages and panels that The Shadow doesn't appear on, when he shows up, he's a little TOO detailed [...] |

The trailer, which showcases a Batmobile speeding through a tunnel (Batcave maybe?), gives us a better look at the animation style of the new series. While we knew that this was going to be a CG series, we have yet to see the actual product yet. Well, there's a couple of things to note here, which we'll get to after you watch the video [...] |

Legendary TV Host Dick Clark Dies At 82 Posted: 18 Apr 2012 02:12 PM PDT Dick Clark, the venerable music titan and pioneering maverick who paved the way for many bands by way of the long-running television program American Bandstand, died this morning at Saint John's hospital in Santa Monica, according to CBS News, who reports that Clark suffered a heart attack there a day after he was admitted for an outpatient procedure. He was 82 years old. Clark, who was born in Mount Vernon, NY, on November 30th, 1929, caught his first career fire as a disc jockey at WFIL radio in Philadelphia in 1952 and hosted a program called Bandstand, which was the beginning of a program which eventually moved to local, and then national televison as American Bandstand. After five years, the program, and Clark, became national icons, as millions watched each week on ABC to see the easy to digest format of the show, which basically showcased teenagers dancing to popular bands, some of whom made appearances, playing live or lip-synching to their hit records at the time. Records were also "rated" and Clark would also host right from the audience and get comments from folks there as well about the acts on the show [...] |
‘Drive’ Director Nicholas Winding Refn May Produce and Direct a ‘Maniac Cop’ Prequel Posted: 18 Apr 2012 01:00 PM PDT The 1988 action-horror flick Maniac Cop remains a cult favorite after more than two decades for several reasons, not limited to its badass cast of schlock legends -- Tom Atkins, Robert Z'Dar, Richard Roundtree, William Smith, and a young Bruce Campbell in his first leading role outside the Evil Dead movies -- and its memorable tagline: "You have the right to remain silent. Forever." The movie also gave horror fans who were growing tired of the slasher shenanigans of Jason Voorhees and Freddy Krueger a new unstoppable super killer to root for: Matt Cordell (Z'Dar), a dedicated New York cop who was wrongly convicted, killed in prison, and returned from the dead hungry for vengeance. The original Maniac Cop was successful enough to spawn two sequels before the would-be franchise petered out in the early 1990s. Now it looks like Officer Cordell is coming back to screens hardcore and he'll have a major filmmaking talent in his corner [...] |

The GoD List: Comics For April 18, 2012 Posted: 18 Apr 2012 09:20 AM PDT Each and every week "Easy Peasy" MK2Fac3 and "Livin' Greasy" Henchman21 read a lot of comics. Seriously you guys, a lot of comics. Maybe too many comics. I mean, it is possible… theoretically. They look forward to some more than others, I mean, who doesn't? So, let's take a look into the depths of their pull lists, grab some comics, and we'll let YOU know what the top books to look forward to are for the week of April 18, 2012. Single issues and trades, they're all here. Man, comics are pretty expensive, huh? I'm sitting here looking at my pull list this week, and I'm not seeing a lot of books that fall under the price of three dollars. See, while comics for the most part are less than a gallon of gasoline in some regions, others are more, which is just flat out insane. So, when we're stuck in an economy such as this, with an unemployment rate as high as it, we need an escape. And if you're reading this, I'm assuming that you're escape is the same as ours, comic books. Comic books get a lot of flack for a lot of different reasons, but there's something about even the super hero books that everyone complains about that offer something that no other form of entertainment offers. So, it's with this idea that we present The GoD List, a list full of comics that we are looking forward to that should help you, if not solve these real-life situation, then at least provide away to temporarily relieve them by letting you know what's worth your time and why [...] |
