Digital Comics Deal: Celebrate Earth Day With ‘Swamp Thing’ Posted: 21 Apr 2012 05:34 PM PDT Swamp Thing is a character who blurs the lines of regular man who looks like a monster, a straight up piece of vegetation that looks sort of like a man, and both of things but also an eco-terrorist of sorts, but no matter how you view the character, it's impossible to deny the fact that some of the greatest writers in comics have either written him or his ancillary characters. Also, when he's not questioning his identity, he's a pretty eco-friendly dude. So, it's with this fact that Comixology is offering a 99 cent three-day sale on Swamp Thing for this weekend's Earth Day. Comixology has recently made these sales more manageable if you don't exactly know what you're looking for and have places different comics into sections that categorize them more efficiently than just, "Here's a bunch of comics that are on sale." These different sections for Swamp Thing are [...] |
Posted: 21 Apr 2012 02:06 PM PDT So, I just told you about today being Record Store Day, where a bunch of special vinyl releases are available throughout the world at local record shops. But in order to actually PLAY a vinyl record, you need a record player - or a turntable. And wouldn't it be awesome to have a Star Wars-themed turntable to play all your KISS Destroyer records on? (OK, I need it for all my old KISS albums; maybe you need it for your new limited-edition 7" Coldplay record.) Anyhow, check to the image above of an R2-D2 Turntable, which is totally awesome [...] |
Go Get Some Vinyl For Record Store Day 2012 Posted: 21 Apr 2012 12:31 PM PDT Today is Record Store Day, an international observance that takes place on the third Saturday in April each year. The event is meant to put a spotlight on music, as well as independent record store owners, and each year, there's tons of special vinyl releases. Below is a list of all the special vinyl releases for today, from artists like Iggy Pop David Bowie, T-Rex, The Beatles, Cradle of Filth, Deep Purple, Sex Pistols, Metallica, and The Clash. (Ok, those are the artists I like, but there's also Bruno Mars, Ryan Adams, Florence and the Machine, Coldplay, and a bunch of other bands/artists I've never heard of.) [...] |
Sail The Coast With Jigsaw On The ‘Saw’ Ultimate Fan Experience Cruise Posted: 21 Apr 2012 12:00 PM PDT The last things you want to hear on a cruise are "Pirates," "Iceberg, Dead Ahead," and "Jigsaw." So while you are more likely to run into the first two, the third sounds like something truly scary considering you are inside a large massive metal structure surrounded by water, trying to survive one of Jigsaw's traps seems pointless. And if movies set on cruises have taught us anything, it's that the last place you want to be is on a Saw-themed ship. That's right, in conjunction with Twisted Pictures, Carnival and Rabin Management, the Saw series is hitting the ocean for the ultimate Saw fan experience. Thanks to Collider for bringing this to our attention. Here's a few more details about the Saw Fan Experience [...] |
‘Night Of The Owls’ Descends On Gotham Posted: 21 Apr 2012 10:44 AM PDT Following the lead in Scott Snyder's current run on Batman, DC Comics has posted a graphic containing all of the titles that will be participating in the Batman crossover event Night of the Owls. Night of the Owls started this week with a prelude in Kyle Higgins and Eddy Barrows' Nightwing #8 which kickstarted the first issue in the crossover event, Batman #8 by Scott Snyder and Greg Capullo. The concept of the mini-event is that Gotham City has a sordid past that even Bruce Wayne was unaware of. The Court of Owls, an evil group of assassins, has been controlling the fate of Gotham the entire time. There's much more to the story including Dick Grayson's lineage and an all out assault against the Wayne family and other leaders of Gotham City. It's a war of Bats vs. Owls when most of the Bat-family is called upon to participate [...] |
