‘District 9′ Star Sharlto Copley Comfirmed As Villain In Spike Lee’s ‘Oldboy’ Posted: 01 May 2012 08:06 PM PDT Remember last month when District 9 star Sharlto Copley was in talks to star as the villain in Spike Lee's Oldboy? Well, talks have ended, and its confirmed that Copley is the villain in the American incarnation of Oldboy. The film is based on the South Korean thriller and manga of the same name. Josh Brolin will play as the film's protagonist, a man who is randomly kidnapped and incarcerated in a hotel room for years. Then for unknown reasons, he is released from his imprisonment. He then goes off to find the very people that were responsible for this heinous act [...] |

Now, almost 80 years later, the Spider is back in The Spider #1 (published by Dynamite Entertainment, the same company that's publishing The Shadow. Can irony BE any more ironic?)!!! [...] |
Emma Watson, Jason Segel Join Seth Rogen & Jay Baruchel’s Apocalypse Movie ‘End Of The World’ Posted: 01 May 2012 06:00 PM PDT It's been nearly four years now since we first heard that Seth Rogen, Jay Baruchel, and Evan Goldberg's apocalypse comedy trailer, Jay and Seth Versus the Apocalypse (which you can see here if you haven't already), would actually be turned into a feature length movie. Since then it has be re-named The Apocalypse...and then re-named again, giving it its current title, The End of the World. With the title changes the movie's story has also changed, and quite the cast of actors have jumped on board, most of whom we're used to seeing together on the screen. [...] |
Watch Now: The ‘Doctor Who’ Heavy Metal Cover Posted: 01 May 2012 05:00 PM PDT I don't happen to be very knowledgeable in the worlds of heavy metal music and geek favorite Doctor Who, but it has to be assumed that when those two worlds collide, someone who's very much into both---like our own Empress Eve and Dave3, perhaps---would become quite happy. Enter a new video from one such fan in YouTube user 331Erock, who has a knack for fusing together metal and geek culture and has offered to the masses his new Doctor Who performance. You can check out the video below. [...] |
Roberto Orci & Alex Kurtzman To Produce ‘The Mummy’ and ‘Van Helsing’ Reboots Posted: 01 May 2012 03:40 PM PDT You never know what you are going to get with something from Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman. On one hand they penned amazing scripts for Star Trek and Mission: Impossible III. On the other hand they penned some pretty terrible scripts for Transformers: Dark of the Moon and Cowboys & Aliens. The two also have a couple of producing credits under their belts. So in addition to producing the Ender's Game adaptation, polishing the script for the sequel to The Amazing Spider-Man, and producing the illusionary caper flick Now You See Me, they will be providing some influential insight for the reboot of The Mummy that Prometheus writer Jon Spaihts is putting together with producer Sean Daniel and also the reimagining of Van Helsing with Tom Cruise attached to star as the lead [...] |
Comics You Should Be Reading: The Shade by James Robinson Posted: 01 May 2012 02:00 PM PDT There are a great deal of comic books that are released on a monthly basis, so many in fact that some of the best of the lot can fall through the cracks of hardcore comic book fans' pull lists because quite frankly, you can't buy everything. So, it's working under that assumption, as well as weekly beatings from my editor, that I will begin proving you with a somewhat consistent installment of Comics You Should Be Reading. And when I think of a comic that everyone should absolutely be reading, none comes to mind quicker right now than that of The Shade by James Robinson. The September Relaunch of the entire line of comics from DC Comics caused a huge commotion. Fans were notified that the publishing company would be throwing out all of its continuity, which ended up being more selective continuity than anything else, and while that shocked many of its readership, it provided a whole new landscape of creative possibilities for a wealth of brilliant minds. Fifty-two titles were announced initially, and then came the announcement of a handful of mini-series. Enter The Shade [...] |

‘The Avengers’ Featurette: Joss Whedon Breaksdown Fight Scene Between Two Heroes Posted: 01 May 2012 12:00 PM PDT The Avengers hits theaters in less than three days, so Disney is pushing the marketing pedal all the way to the floor. Joss Whedon's superhero action ensemble movie is much more than a gathering of some of the greatest heroes in the Marvel cinematic universe, its makes for a great case study on dysfunctional families. Now a new featurette has popped online and it features the director detailing the in-fighting within The Avengers. (Watch it here below.) In a movie that is filled with some of the greatest heroes known to man, a few egos are bound to clash, and that is what Joss Whedon would like to explain in the latest featurette that centers on a vital fight scene between Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.) and Thor (Chris Hemsworth) [...] |
‘Prometheus’ Extended Featurette Reveals Too Much Footage Posted: 01 May 2012 11:00 AM PDT The first two trailers for Ridley Scott's Prometheus were absolutely brilliant and harks back to the Scott's 1979 Alien. But recent trailers have featured very spoilerish footage from the upcoming movie, whatever brought this call to bring this trailer to light is more puzzling than the movie itself. So I am jumping on board with most of the fellow writers out there and will just avoid anything new from the Prometheus marketing push. But for those who love any amount of free footage they get, no matter how much it spoils the movie, they will thoroughly enjoy the following extended featurette. The newest featurette is not like the latest trailer or featurette that was released, its much worse. The featurette encompasses everything about Prometheus from the director and its writers Jon Spaihts and Damon Lindelof to the cast and the very people that build these massive sets [...] |
