A Disturbing Transmission From ‘Prometheus’ Posted: 02 May 2012 05:30 PM PDT Twentieth Century Fox has released a very disturbing audio recording from Prometheus, Ridley Scott's triumphant return to the science-fiction genre. The scrambled audio transmission, which surfaced on the Swiss movie site BlogBusters, is the latest installment of Fox's 'Discovering Prometheus' viral campaign. Thanks to the forum members over at Prometheus-Movie.com, you can download and listen to the original transmission here. The audio (which runs just over one minute in length) is scrambled and reversed, making it rather hard to decipher. Luckily, as The Dark Knight Rises viral campaign proved, there isn't a marketing puzzle that can't be solved by rabid fanatics, especially if the riddle promises secret goodies! Comic Review: The Lone Ranger #5 Posted: 02 May 2012 04:45 PM PDT The Lone Ranger #5 Written by Ande Parks Art by Esteve Polls Colors by Marcelo Pinto Letters by Simon Bowland Cover by Francesco Francavilla Dynamite Entertainment Release Date: May 2, 2012 Cover Price: $3.99 The Lone Ranger #5 is what SEEMS to be the climax of the first story arc in this title, but in fact, there is one more chapter to go. I'm not happy that I have to wait a month, because quite frankly, I'm not sure how ANYONE would top this issue. It's no secret by now that I love this book and I love Ande Parks' writing. Not just here, his Green Hornet title is seriously underrated. But, back to this comic [...] |

Book Review: Star Trek: Vanguard: Storming Heaven Posted: 02 May 2012 03:00 PM PDT Star Trek: Vanguard: Storming Heaven By David Mack Pocket Books Release date: March 27, 2012 Paperback | Kindle Star Trek: Vanguard: Storming Heaven is the first Vanguard book I've read, though it's the eighth - and final -- installment in the series. As I began reading Storming Heaven, I couldn't help but wonder, where has this series been all my life? The Star Trek books I've read before mostly centered on the crew of the original series, and for some reason, I was under the impression that the Star Trek: Vanguard series contained all new characters with no one from any previous Trek movies or television shows. Man, was I wrong. While Vanguard does introduce a lot -- and I mean a lot -- of new characters, there's plenty of familiar faces as well, including Captain James T. Kirk, as the events take place in what would be the second half of the original television show's third season. But Kirk and crew are not the center of the Vanguard story, though if you're a Star Trek fan, you'll recognize several other people in Storming Heaven, including Dr. Carol Marcus, the Klingon Chancellor Gorkon (when he was Councillor), and the Klingon General Chang (when he was a Captain), all in their pre-Star Trek movie incarnations. This is something about the book that I absolutely loved, because we got to learn about significant events in their lives that lead up to the events of the movies [...] |
Michelle Rodriguez Reprises Her Characters In ‘Fast and Furious 6′ and ‘Machete Kills’ Posted: 02 May 2012 02:00 PM PDT The Fast and Furious franchise seems to be following in the footsteps of the comic book world with characters that never really die even though it appears as if they did. Michelle Rodriguez who seemingly died in Fast and Furious and then appeared in the post credits scene in Fast Five, is officially signed on to reprise her role in the tentatively titled Fast and Furious 6. Rodriguez will also return to reprise her role in Machete Kills, the sequel to Robert Rodriguez's Machete. Rodriguez, who made a brief return in Fast Five, reunites with Vin Diesel, Paul Walker, Dwayne Johnson. Gina Carano and possibly Luke Evans and Rihanna will join them. Justin Lin returns to the director's chair once more to take on the sixth installment of the Fast and Furious franchise, which is said to take place in Europe with Dwayne Johnson still in hot pursuit of Paul Walker and Vin Diesel [...] |
Comic Review: Animal Man Vol. 1: The Hunt Posted: 02 May 2012 01:00 PM PDT Animal Man Vol. 1: The Hunt Paperback Written by Jeff Lemire Art by Travel Foreman, John Paul Leon, Jeff Huet Color Art by Lovern Kindzierski Letters by Jared K. Fletcher DC Comics Release Date: May 2, 2012 Cover Price: $14.99 Animal Man by Jeff Lemire and Travel Foreman is easily one of the best titles of the DC Relaunch. The comic does everything it should. What Lemire does in The Hunt is craft a perfect, classic, horror story. The comic starts normally enough in the vein of the radical Animal Man who fights on behalf of animal rights, but it quickly takes a dark and twisted turn that takes Buddy Baker's life and places it on its head by involving his family closely with his power set. We are also introduced to a group of hunters that are looking for Buddy Baker, but more importantly, they're looking for his family members [...] |
Watch ‘Walk & Talk: The West Wing Reunion’ PSA Posted: 02 May 2012 12:00 PM PDT Aaron Sorkin's political drama The West Wing drama ran on NBC for seven seasons, and there was always one thing you could be sure would happen in most episodes: the Walk & Talk. Oftentimes, characters would have discussions as they made their way through the halls of the White House and at times, en route to meet with the President in the Oval Office. Now, the cast members of the series have reunited for a very special event - Walk & Talk: The West Wing Reunion, a PSA on getting Americans to walk! Watch the video here below, which premiered on Funny or Die [...] |
‘The Expendables 2′ Teaser Is Fueled By Terry Crews’ Massive Muscles and Vocal Cords Posted: 02 May 2012 11:00 AM PDT The latest trend for the major movie studios out there is to release a trailer for the trailer. Prometheus has done it, we've seen one for Total Recall, and now we are getting the trailer for trailer treatment for The Expendables 2, the action-filled testosterone-fueled sequel to the 2010 hit film. The video (which you can check out below) starts off with actor Terry Crews shouting at you like some burley boot camp leader trying to motivate you to do those five extra pushups you can never do. He introduces a very short, but explosive clip that doesn't reveal much or tell us anything about the movie itself. It's perhaps the least effective teaser for the full trailer I have seen in quite a while [...] |
Australian Billionaire Clive Palmer To Remake Titanic Ship Posted: 02 May 2012 10:00 AM PDT We see Hollywood remaking everything in sight these days, from beloved classics we once thought untouchable to recent blockbuster franchises (or failed attempts at them) that were seen a decade or less ago. But why stop at just remaking movies? Video game remakes look like they could start becoming more popular, but that makes sense. No, no---we the human race need to start thinking really big in terms of our remakes...like, for example, objects of historical relevance, perhaps? [...] |
