Attack Ads For Will Ferrell & Zach Galifianakis Political Comedy ‘The Campaign’

Posted: 07 May 2012 06:00 PM PDT

The Campaign

Since we have a hotly-contested Presidential race gearing up, there's no better time for a comedy savagely thumbing its nose (and you think that would hurt) at American electoral politics, and The Campaign looks like a doozy.

Directed by Jay Roach (Meet the Parents, the Austin Powers trilogy) from a script written by Chris Henchy (The Other Guys) and Shawn Harwell (Eastbound and Down), the upcoming film stars Will Ferrell as Cam Brady, a charismatic North Carolina Democratic congressman running for reelection against his sweet-natured but clueless Republican opponent Marty Huggins, played by Zach Galifianakis.

The publicity machine at Warner Bros. is starting to slowly grind to life for The Campaign and today the studio has premiered a pair of faux political attack ads starring Ferrell and Galifianakis as well as releasing election banners and establishing Facebook pages for each of their characters.

You can check them all out here below [...]

$4 MP3 Album Deal: Peter Frampton’s ‘Frampton Comes Alive!’ Deluxe Edition

Peter Frampton Frampton Comes Alive!

One of the great live rock and roll albums of the 1970s is only on sale for only $3.99 right now! Amazon is offering up a MP3 version of Peter Frampton's Frampton Comes Alive! in a fantastic deal. This is the 35th anniversary deluxe edition, which means that 19 songs right now are available for instant download.

Frampton Comes Alive!, which was originally released as a 2-record set back in 1976, unexpectedly catapulted the young Frampton, born of English heritage and had been in Humble Pie and had released solo albums to no fanfare in America, into the success stratosphere, with radio and chart hits "Show Me the Way," "Baby I Love Your Way," and the lengthy and guitar de force "Do you Feel like We Do," replete with voice box and axe histrionics which sent the live audience into a frenzy [...]

We've been reminded throughout most of Season 2 of Game of Thrones that "the night is dark and full of terrors," and most events throughout the course of these episodes have been reminders of this fact, but "The Old Gods And The New" (Episode 6) takes Melisandre's oft repeated words and brings them to light in truly terrifying ways [...]

Guillermo Del Toro Says ‘Prometheus’ Is the Demise Of ‘At The Mountains Of Madness’

Posted: 07 May 2012 03:00 PM PDT

Guillermo Del Toro

Before Guillermo Del Toro started filming his directorial effort Pacific Rim, he saw his adaptation of At the Mountains of Madness stall over at Universal Picturess due to budgetary concerns over an R-rated projected. At first there was a slight chance that the film could be produced after Del Toro was finished working on Pacific Rim, but those dreams have been quickly dashed thanks in part to Ridley Scott.

Del Toro recently commented on his official website, Del Toro Films, stating that Mountains may never happen because the film bares a strong resemblance to Scott's upcoming film Prometheus [...]

James Cameron Says He Will No Longer Make Non-’Avatar’ Films

Posted: 07 May 2012 01:00 PM PDT

James Cameron talks about Avatar sequels

When talking about giving up the live-action Battle Angel to another director, James Cameron said that you would have to pry it from his cold dead hands. Well it seems that won't be completely necessary, because the director sees himself being committed to making only Avatar movies.

In an interview with the New York Times, Cameron said that he only sees himself making Avatar films and focusing on documentary work. So that Battle Angel movie everyone has been waiting for will have to wait or just hope that he relinquishes Battle Angel and hand it off to another director. In fact, Cameron sees himself going beyond the generic trilogy of films and making an Avatar 4 [...]

Could David Tennant Be Joining The Cast of ‘Fast Six’?

Posted: 07 May 2012 12:00 PM PDT

David Tennant

This could just be a rumor, but it's too cool not to report. Take it with a few grains of salt if you please.

Hot on the heels of the news that Welsh actor Luke Evans (The Hobbit) was recently offered the villain role - a part once intended for Jason Statham - in next summer's turbo-charged action sequel Fast Six (or The Fast and the Furious 6) comes the mildly startling revelation that the movie might be getting a little extra class in its cast in the form of David Tennant. The former Doctor Who star is reportedly being wooed by Justin Lin - the director of last year's mega-successful Fast Five as well as its previous two sequels - for an undisclosed role in what will surely be another summer slam dunk for Universal Pictures [...]

Edgar Wright Teases ‘Ant-Man’ With New Image

Edgar Wright

Unless you've been living under a rock, then you know of the success of The Avengers this week. If not, well let's just get the Hulk to get that extra weight off your back. According to box office returns, The Avengers gross over $200 million in its domestic opening weekend. That's nothing to scoff at really, and with its success came the talk of the inevitable sequel and which characters will be featured in the next Avengers (see our Assembling The Avengers Sequel piece).

Of course one of the most prominent members of The Avengers who wasn't featured in the film was Henry Pym aka Ant-Man. Now if you don't know already, Edgar Wright has been working on the adaptation of Ant-Man for quite some time now, and it appears we are getting closer to seeing that movie come to the big screen.

So in response to the status of the Ant-Man feature, Wright went to twitter to tweet an image he received in the mail. You can view the image below [...]

What’s Next for Marvel Studios: Assembling ‘The Avengers’ Sequel

The Avengers 2 Wish List

Warning: This feature contains specific plot details regarding Marvel's The Avengers. If you haven't seen the movie yet, then what in the name of Mephisto's fiery Hell-realm are you doing? Seriously.

Stop what you're doing right now and get your ass to the nearest movie theater. Just go. No one's stopping you. This is America [unless you're not in America]. You have rights and freedoms [unless you don't].

Are you still reading this? Then I can only assume you're a True Believer and you've seen The Avengers at least once, right? OK then, let's suit up and get down to the good stuff - where I spoil the crap out of Joss Whedon's epic love letter to Earth's mightiest heroes.

As I pointed out in my review, I absolutely loved The Avengers. The question now is, "Where do we go from here?" Well, I'll tell you where... [...]

Movie Ticket Reveals ‘Prometheus’ Is Rated R? [Confirmed]

Prometheus Noomi Rapace

"A King has his reign..." and that reign may include adult themes, adult activity, hard language, intense or persistent violence, sexually-oriented nudity, drug abuse or other elements.

According to an AMC pre-sale ticket stub for the 06/08/12 12:01 AM screening of Prometheus IMAX 3D, the film will be rated R. This information comes from IMDb user dvonnesoneek by way of Collider, who first reported on the rating.

To my surprise, the ticket comes from AMC Concord Mills 24 in Concord, North Carolina. The AMC Concord 24 is 10 miles away from where I'm located in Charlotte, NC - and I've visited this theater several times for IMAX and 3D screenings [...]
