Production for Mikael Håfström's The Tomb, starring Sylvester Stallone and Arnold Schwarzenegger, has begun. Stallone stars as Ray Breslin, the world's foremost authority on structural security. Breslin is framed and imprisoned in a prison of his own design, and together with fellow inmate (played by Arnold Schwarzenegger) must find out how to break out. The film also stars Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson, Jim Caviezel, Amy Ryan, Vincent D'Onofrio, Vinnie Jones, and new addition Sam Neill.

Caviezel plays Hobbes, the warden of the Tomb, and Jones will play as Drake, the lead guard of the maximum-security prison. D'Onofrio plays Lester Clark, Breslin's business partner and CEO of B&C Security, their independent security company hired by the Federal Bureau of Prisons to test the integrity of their maximum-security facilities nationwide. Ryan plays Abigail Ross, jack-of-all trades and one of Beslin's closest confidants at B&C Security. Director Neil Marshall To Captain Dracula Tale ‘The Last Voyage Of the Demeter’

Posted: 14 May 2012 02:00 PM PDT

Dracula - Becky Cloonan

Hollywood has always been captivated by the romance of a vampire, although recent incarnations of the character have been focusing on the glitz and glamor of the blood-sucking being. Now The Descent director Neil Marshall hopes to bring back the glory days of the vampire Dracula by helming the long-gestating The Last Voyage of the Demeter.

Bragi Schut's decade-old script is an adaptation of Bram Stoker's novel Dracula that centers on the large sailing vessel the Demeter on its fateful journey transporting Dracula from Transylvania to England. If you know the story of Dracula, then you're aware that things don't go as planned on the trip, and when the ship washes ashore in a condition opposite of when it departed, only one survivor is aboard [...]

Watch Now: First Gameplay Trailer For ‘Assassin’s Creed 3′ Released

Assassin's Creed III

The Assassin's Creed franchise has seen its ups and down. While being incredibly enjoyable and unique at first, sequels were being released at a rampant pace and gamers quickly got sick of them. The series needed a serious breath of fresh air and needed it badly, a breath of fresh air developer and publisher Ubisoft hopes they have with Assassin's Creed III.

The fifth game in the franchise (on consoles and PC) is on its way to us this fall, and it certainly takes us to places we've not yet been in the franchise: the American Revolution. [...]

Scam School, Book 1

Scam School
Book 1
Kindle Edition
By Brian Brushwood
Bizarre Magic, Inc.
Release Date: March 14, 2012

Scam School, Book 1 is the first (naturally) of three companion ebooks to online network Revision 3's popular series. The premise of the show (and the book), according to the website, is that "Award-winning magician Brian Brushwood takes viewers on an inside tour of bar tricks, street cons, and scams," and this ebook is truly kind of magical, but not for the reasons you might think. More on this later.

The book opens with a terrific Forward where Brian Brushwood recalls how he was inspired at age 8 by watching Penn & Teller, and how he wrote to Teller (with no anticipation of a reply), and received in response an incredibly instructive and inspiring letter teaching him some of the finer points of the illusion arts, including this fundamental tip: always engage an element of surprise (a tip Brushwood uses to great effect in many of the book's scams) [...]

Queen To Perform With Freddie Mercury Hologram

Queen - Freddie Mercury -Freddie for a Day

Metal Hammer in the UK reported today that the rock group Queen is going to have a special performance commemorating the tenth anniversary of the musical We Will Rock You, which is based on the quartet, and as an added "bonus", will have a holographic image of their late singer Freddie Mercury, accompanying them.

Guitarist and co-founder of the group Brian May confirmed the news to BBC Television in England, telling them that "It's a little unfortunate that they did that thing with Tupac as we've been trying to make Freddie appear on the stage for quite a while." May was referring to the guest "appearance" made by a Tupac Shakur hologram at the Coachella Festival, held here in America last month. May also went on to state that the Mercury hologram would not sport the same technology used to bring Tupac to eerie life on stage, but Mercury's effect would be achieved as an "optical illusion of sorts." Happy 68th Birthday To ‘Star Wars’ Creator George Lucas

Posted: 14 May 2012 07:00 AM PDT

George Lucas At Disneyland

Today marks the 68th birthday of George Lucas, the classic filmmaker who helmed one of the biggest franchises in cinema history with his Star Wars motion pictures. In addition to directing and writing the first Star Wars in 1977, Lucas has produced and/or direct some other cinematic landmarks, while his Industrial Light and Magic (ILM) sound and visual effects company has been responsible for the visual eye candy in various productions for more than 30 years.

Born in the small town of Modesto, California, Lucas' first passion was auto racing. A near fatal accident in that endeavor in 1962 ended all aspirations to pursue that hobby and instead he went south to study filmmaking at The University of Southern California. During his tenure there at USC, he met Steven Spielberg, and the two became fast friends, and of course eventual collaborators, creating a partnership and an eventual empire in Hollywood. He directed many short films while in college, one of them, a science fiction vehicle entitled THX-1138, won first prize at the 1967-68 Student Film Festival and was later adapted into a feature film, which starred Robert Duvall and was released in 1971 [...]
