You’ll Fear Bane In This New Footage From ‘The Dark Knight Rises’ Posted: 03 Jun 2012 09:56 PM PDT The new footage for The Dark Knight Rises that debuted on Sunday during the live broadcast of the 2012 MTV Movie Awards was undoubtedly the highlight of the show. You can watch that footage here below, along with a new 30-second TV spot for the film. At the MTV Movie Awards, The Dark Knight Rises stars Christian Bale, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, and Gary Oldman took the stage to introduce a montage of memorable scenes from the previous Batman films, Batman Begins and The Dark Knight. Bale was noticeably choked up after seeing his Dark Knight co-star, the late Heath Ledger, on screen and made reference to Ledger before bringing out director Christopher Nolan, who then presented the new footage [...] |
Convention Report: Motor City Comic Con 2012 Posted: 03 Jun 2012 02:30 PM PDT The Motor City Comic Con is not a newcomer on the convention scene, but I can't help but feel it's a late-bloomer still unsure how things are meant to run. The 2012 convention was held in Detroit, Michigan, last month and turnout this year appeared much higher than the rain-plagued 2011 event. Walking through the comics side of the Suburban Collection Showplace proved difficult as crowds clamored around the various comic and collectible vendors. Big name artists like Ethan Van Sciver and Talent Caldwell were almost always seen talking with fans or busy working on sketches. But conventions like this are also a good place for smaller, local talents to find a wider audience. I Love Lightning Bugs, a band heralding from Royal Oak, Michigan, had a booth showcasing both their music and a new comic book illustrated by local artist Mindy McPeak featuring the band members adventures into the paranormal. First looks suggest a Gorillaz-esque alternative reality but with protagonists based on real people [...] |
$3 MP3 Album Deal: Music for the Zombie Apocalypse Posted: 03 Jun 2012 01:15 PM PDT Aaaaaah, it seems as though one of you musical mobile meatsnacks went ahead and set my work-day to song with the sweet sounds of this compilation, Music for the Zombie Apocalypse. I guess now it's time us hobbling human-hunting halitosis humidors learn a few new dance steps. Well, to be honest all this shuffle-hop-step-drag-lurch nonsense was getting a bit boring anyhow. While you still have fingers and ears, clickety clack on over to Amazon and buy mp3 album for only $2.99 for a limited time (much like your lifespan) and enjoy the soundtrack to your demise [...] |
Reminder: 2012 MTV Movie Awards: ‘The Dark Knight Rises’, Johnny Depp & More! Posted: 03 Jun 2012 12:30 PM PDT Tonight is the live broadcast of the 2012 MTV Movie Awards, which promises, as always, to bring out the stars of today's hottest movies, as well as debut new footage from highly anticipated films. This year's show, which begins at 9pm ET, is hosted by Russell Brand and will debut exclusive footage of this year's most anticipated film, The Dark Knight Rises, presented by director Christopher Nolan and stars Christian Bale, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, and Gary Oldman. Reportedly, the clip will not be made available online after the show, so the only way to see it is to tune into the show tonight. For the 2012 awards, The Hunger Games and Bridesmaids lead the nominations with 8 nods each, with 21 Jump Street and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 close behind with 6 each, while movies like Drive, Like Crazy, The Descendants, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, and My Week with Marilyn are all in the running as well [...] |
Book Review: Zac and the Dream Stealers Posted: 03 Jun 2012 12:00 PM PDT Zac and the Dream Stealers By Ross MacKenzie Hardcover Publisher: The Chicken House Release date: June 1, 2012 I LOVED this book! It's been ages since this crusty, old Book Slave has read a book for children ages 8 to 12 and I was absolutely delighted all the way through first time author Ross MacKenzie's Zac and the Dream Stealers. Poor Zac Wonder has been having the kind of nightmares that startle him awake each night, which is how he learns that his Granny's been slipping out of the house at the stroke of midnight. One night, the young boy decides to follow Granny and ends up in a dream world called Nocturne and learns that his sweet, old Granny is a whole lot more than merely sweet and old. Granny's one of the Knights of Nod, a secret organization of magicians formed to protect Nocturne against the Dream Stealers. She's been summoned back to Nocturne by Grandmaster magician Rumpous Tinn, only he's not there when they arrive. Someone has kidnapped Rompous Tinn and the Knights devise a plan to find him [...] |
Game Show Host, ‘Running Man’ Actor Richard Dawson Dies At 79 Posted: 03 Jun 2012 11:05 AM PDT Richard Dawson, the sarcastic British comedian best remembered for his stint as the host of TV's Family Feud, being a regular on the WWII sitcom Hogan's Heroes, and playing a dark, sadistic game show host in the sci-fi vehicle The Running Man, died yesterday at the age of 79 from complications stemming from esophageal cancer. Dawson found his first success as the slick character Newkirk on Hogan's Heroes, the long running CBS-TV sitcom which starred Bob Crane and ran from the late 1960s to the early 1970s. Afterwards, he found greater success as a regular panelist on the long-running 1970s game show Match Game, also airing on CBS. His irascible style, jack of all trades Groucho Marx-esque wit and lovable charm made him a fan and contestant favorite. He used those traits when he became the host of the original version of Family Feud, a stint that lasted from 1976 to 1985 and was a show that won him a Daytime Emmy Award for his work in 1978. He's best remembered for especially two things from that program: notoriously kissing every female contestant he encountered on the show (something which he once said he did "for love and luck") and his bombastic, over the top catchphrase of "Survey said!", which became part of the American pop culture lexicon soon after he did it. On Feud, he parlayed a very decidedly English style and swagger, and the program was watched and beloved by millions of stalwart viewers of daytime television [...] This posting includes an audio/video/photo media file: Download Now |
Nicholas Winding Refn Negotiates To Adapt ‘Button Man’ Posted: 03 Jun 2012 10:10 AM PDT After Nicolas Winding Refn made a huge splash with his American debut with Drive, the director reunited with Drive star Ryan Gosling for Only God Forgives. So as soon as he is done with his newest directorial effort, Refn will apparently explore the world of violence and crime once more with an adaptation of the Button Man graphic novel. According to Deadline, Refn is in talks with DreamWorks to adapt the John Wagner and Arthur Ranson graphic novel of the same name, which centers on an ex-mercenary named Harry Exton. Exton's line of work has him pitted against other killers or "Button Man" in a dangerous and deadly underground sport. All the players work for a mysterious rich man only identified as Voice [...] |
New Trailer For Jennifer Lawrence Horror Flick ‘House At The End Of The Street’ Posted: 03 Jun 2012 09:22 AM PDT Jennifer Lawrence has proven herself to be a woman who can handle tough situations. Love, political uprisings, and mutants, Lawrence has stood up to the best and come out unscathed. She hardly ever takes on the horror genre, but that's about to change with her latest film, House at the End of the Street. A new trailer for the film has appeared online and you can watch it here below. Judging by the look of the trailer alone, it is nothing truly special, but there isn't anything awful about it. The quick strobe like clips that appeared in the trailer sure are dizzying, but for the most part, the movie seems like it will be very forgettable. Max Thieriot's character leaves enough room for a mystery factor in the movie, the trailer was tailored to give him a Hitchockian vibe. But I don't think that can last too long in a full-length movie [...] |
