SDCC 2012: Joss Whedon, Nathan Fillion To Take Part In ‘Firefly’ Anniversary Panel Posted: 27 Jun 2012 06:23 PM PDT This year's San Diego Comic-Con convention is still a couple of weeks off, but already geeks who will be in attendance have something special to look forward to. For the first time ever, Firefly will be making its way to Comic-Con 2012. Don't get too excited, however---it's not to announce the show's return or anything along those lines. The panel is to celebrate the 10-year anniversary of the fan-favorite sci-fi western, which was canceled far too soon an immensely fast-moving decade ago. [...] |
‘Looper’ Trailer: Joseph Gordon-Levitt Fails To Kill His Future Self and Pays For It Posted: 27 Jun 2012 05:00 PM PDT A new international trailer for Rian Johnson's Looper has appeared online and it takes what we know about time travel and builds upon it with a very expansive story. Joseph Gordon-Levitt stars as a hit-man hired to kill targets sent from the future to his own timeline. He takes the job in stride and gets paid very well. But all that comes apart when his future self is a target whom he fails to kill, forcing him to go on the run to kill his target and stay out of his employers' sights. [...] |

‘Here Comes The Boom’ Trailer: Kevin James Fights Until It Hurts Posted: 27 Jun 2012 03:00 PM PDT When you think of Kevin James, you think of a lot of simple jokes, physical comedy, and slapstick. But the last thing you would think that would come to mind is inspiration. Could it be, that I may find a hint of an uplifting story in a Kevin James movie? That appears to be the case with his new MMA fighter-based flick Here Comes the Boom. Check out the trailer below. [...] |
$5 MP3 Album Deal: The Beach Boys’ ‘Pet Sounds’ Posted: 27 Jun 2012 02:00 PM PDT One of the most influential and acclaimed records of all time, Pet Sounds by The Beach Boys is on sale on MP3 format for only $5.00 on Amazon this month. The Beach Boys were and are still best known as a pop/light surf group rich in melody, harmony, and presenting California as a place of idyllic hedonism in the most innocuous way. They raised their previous knack for churning out simply catchy singles which became hits on a pace with their fellow stateside Capitol Records mates The Beatles to a whole other level with the 1966 release of Pet Sounds. ‘Shrek Forever After’ Writer To Pen ‘Where In The World Is Carmen Sandiego?’ Movie Posted: 27 Jun 2012 12:00 PM PDT There is indeed a movie based on the popular computer game Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego? on the way. The game saw players using clues to travel the globe trying to find various wanted criminals, while ultimately after the ultra-elusive Carmen Sandiego herself. The project has hired writer Darren Lemke to come in and script the movie, which was acquired by Walden Media from Houghton Mifflin last fall. Lemke has previously worked on Shrek Forever After, as well as Bryan Singer's upcoming Jack and the Beanstalk retelling, Jack the Giant Killer. [...] |
Watch Now: Second Trailer For Tim Burton’s Stop-Motion Feature ‘Frankenweenie’ Posted: 27 Jun 2012 10:00 AM PDT This summer, audiences didn't seem to show much affection towards Tim Burton's Dark Shadows, and rightfully so, since the film was critically panned. Now that that film is behind him, Burton is now turning his attention to Frankenweenie. The teaser trailer was released back in March, and now a new trailer for the film has arrived online, giving a more in depth look at the story. You can see the new trailer below. [...] |
The GoD List: Comics For June 27, 2012 Posted: 27 Jun 2012 09:00 AM PDT Each and every week "Pugs Not Hugs" MK2Fac3 and "The Nachos!" Henchman21 read a lot of comics. Seriously you guys, a lot of comics. Maybe too many comics. I mean, it is possible… theoretically. They look forward to some more than others, I mean, who doesn't? So, let's take a look into the depths of their pull lists, grab some comics, and we'll let YOU know what the top books to look forward to are for the week of June 27, 2012. Single issues and trades, they're all here. "Some days, you just can't get rid of a bomb." Truer words were never spoken. It's these words that summarize what was so great about Batman (1966). A higher level of social commentary was beautifully woven alongside a campy nature that is enjoyable on both a childlike mentality, while also appealing to the ironic appreciation of many adults. Yes, enjoying the '60s Batman was hipster before hipster was a thing. But not only was this movie, and show, enjoyable, these worlds also perfectly embody the message that was in every episode. This quote, specifically, shows that no matter what you do, sometimes things are completely out of your control. Yes, despite what your parents and teachers told you as a child, everything is not possible. For example, it's impossible for me to make any sense in the opening paragraphs of The GoD List, a weekly feature about new comic books, not the brilliant wonders of Batman (1966). Perhaps some day, but not this day. Take that, relevancy [...] |
Marvel’s ‘The Avengers’ Passes Elusive $600 Million Domestic Mark Posted: 27 Jun 2012 08:01 AM PDT Barring any late mega-surges, it doesn't appear that Marvel's juggernaut The Avengers will pass James Cameron's Avatar as the all-time biggest box office success. It will, however, do something only two other movies have been able to do: pass $600 million domestically. For the longest time, Cameron's other record-breaker, Titanic, sat untouched at the top of the mountain at just over $600 million (with an additional almost $58 million added after its recent 3D re-release). Then came Avatar, slaughtering every record in its path en route to a stunning $749 million domestic haul (with an additional $30 million or so tacked on with a special edition re-release, bringing it to over $2.7 billion worldwide).
