Extra At Comic Con

Gone are the days of simply walking to any panel at the San Diego Comic-Con. Now people are doing full-fledged scheduling in order to at least cope with the insanity that the convention has evolved into. So take comfort (or worry even more, depending on your POV) that Warner Brothers is planning an outdoor festival called Extra Stage, and it will all take place during the Con.

Here's what will go down during the event that will run throughout the convention: A massive 60,000 foot stage will be erected for Q&As from for favorite WB shows. [...]

Iron Man Extremis Header

There's a lot of speculation as to what the plot for Iron Man 3 could be. It is believed that the film could be based on the Extremis storyline, which centers on a technologically based virus that could turn any normal human being into tech-based super soldiers.

No doubt there will be some sort of confirmation when Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige takes the Hall H center stage at the San Diego Comic-Con later this month. [...]

Now comes word that Malone has officially been offered the job, and has entered into negotiations to play Johanna. [...]

‘Jack Reacher’ Trailer: Tom Cruise Goes Out For A Rage-Fueled Drive

Jack Reacher

The first trailer for Christopher McQuarrie's Jack Reacher has debuted online.

In the film Tom Cruise seems to be taking on the same persona that Ryan Gosling played in Drive. Whether or not you like Cruise as the titular character, I am sure the brutality in his violence should be enough to convince you that Jack Reacher is at least worth a look.

Check out the trailer below. [...]

Photos: Pixar’s ‘Brave’ Easter Eggs Revealed

Posted: 03 Jul 2012 02:00 PM PDT

Brave Header

A common motif for Pixar is to put a couple of Easter Eggs that hark back to previous films and at least one that hints at next one. Brave is no different. But since it is set in medieval Scotland it was a bit hard to find the right moments to put these Easter Eggs in. Well, if you couldn't find all of them -- and yes there is more than one -- we have the images right here. Continue below to check them out.

Of course spoilers will follow, so if you haven't watched Brave yet, I suggest you turn back now. [...]

Wait, What? ‘Halo 4′ Multiplayer Will Require 8GB Install

Posted: 03 Jul 2012 01:00 PM PDT

Halo 4

Apparently the best indication that a new generation of gaming consoles is on the horizon is when games of the current generation start requiring jaw-dropping amounts of hard drive space to play.

A recent update to Battlefield 3's multiplayer stood out for its hefty 2GB size, requiring players to wait impatiently for the update to finish, but another game might just force you to have to run out and do some errands or take up arts and crafts as you wait for it to install. [...]

The Joker Returns In Scott Snyder’s ‘Death Of The Family’

The Joker is back by Greg Capullo and FCO

Since the first couple of issues of Tony Daniel's run on Detective Comics, Batman's arch nemesis has been MIA. That all comes to a close in October when Scott Snyder and company bring The Joker back to the pages of Batman with the much hyped "Death of the Family."

As per usual, Snyder and DC Comics hype this upcoming storyline as, "This is Joker as you've never seen him before." Now, I don't know if that's true. [...]

Dan Aykroyd Says ‘Ghostbusters 3′ Has A New Writing Staff

Posted: 03 Jul 2012 11:00 AM PDT

Ghostbusters

If you thought the script issues for Men in Black III were bad, then you haven't heard of the kinds of issues that the Ghostbusters 3 script is going through. One of the driving forces that is preventing this movie from happening is the claim that Bill Murray didn't like the script written by Lee Eisenberg and Gene Stupnitsky. In fact, this issue dragged on for so long, Sony had to put it on hold until they could get it right.

But in a surprise move, Murray said he was willing to give Ghostbusters 3 another go. [...]

Henchman 21’s Cooking Corner: ‘The Amazing Spider-Man’ Wheatcakes!

Spider-Man Wheatcakes

In honor of the release of The Amazing Spider-Man I am back with another geek-themed recipe. This time, I'm presenting you with Aunt May's most famous dish: Wheatcakes! Now, I can't be sure if this is the recipe that she herself uses. Apparently Marvel has the recipe, but keeps it a closely guarded secret, known only to Joe Quesada, CB Cebulski, and that Wolverine that magically came out of the comics in the 80's. But, I scoured the internet and found this recipe that I hope is a good substitute [...]

Once in a great long while, a book that you absolutely cannot put down upon pain of death comes along. All the stars and planets align. The Universe is in agreement that you do, in fact, need to read this book from start to finish. It creates things like a sinus infection to keep you curled up in your Lay-Z-Boy, thunderstorms to keep your 60 pound normally active dog stuck to your chest on said Lay-Z-Boy and better things for your Facebook friends to do. This is precisely how I spent two days with John Hornor Jacobs' This Dark Earth. [...]

Geek Peek: First Look At Disney’s Hand-Drawn/Computer Animated Hybrid Short ‘Paperman’

Paperman #1

Along with Disney's new film Wreck-It Ralph, a new animated short film titled Paperman will also be released, much like Pixar Animation does with all of their movies.

Paperman actually fuses together hand-drawn and computer animation with a simplistic black and white presentation to offer a very unique new style of animated film. It tells the story of a lonely man who bumps into the girl of his dreams by chance on his morning commute and then watches her disappear just as quickly. [...]
